The magwell isn't stock but yeah some P320's come with magwells which also aren't allowed and have to be removed

Like it or not, most people modify their carry guns. Even cops extensively modify their duty guns more and more these days... there are people carrying guns with compensators and ported barrels more and more, look at all the staccatos with 2lb triggers, mag wells, compensators, match barrels and 24rd magazines... if "practical" sports shooting doesn't stay practical, then what is the incentive for people to join and get involved? We can't just count on nostalgia from people who want to shoot guns the way they were 10 years ago...

Question, what holster are you using? Race holsters are not legal in CO. The holster must cover the slide up to 1/2" below the ejection port. I have seen kydex holsters that accommodate the one on the right.
Also remember that CO is the width of the overlay (2 1/8") for the distance of the grips from the outside surface of the belt. Open and LO use the length of the overlay (3 3/8"), so the pistol will need to be closer to your belt than the race divisions.
Hydra P on a T1000 hanger should work and it’s certainly within the width of an overlay.
The magwell will be removed, I just keep forgetting to do it but will do so before I start practicing hard with this setup.

I’m going to shoot CO nationals and since I mostly shoot open or limited optics, I’m a bit confused as to what is allowed in terms of modifications in CO.
I plan to use a Beretta 92X, and I have one (black grips in the picture) where the slide stop has been replaced by an enlarged one that serves as a thumb rest. Looking at D7 21.6 it looks like this is allowed?
By the same token, I have another 92X (right side in the picture) where the takedown lever has been replaced by one with a more rounded contour that provided a more comfortable surface for the forward thumb to rest up against. The original takedown lever is very sharp and hurts under recoil. I do not see any specific mentions of takedown levers being allowed as modifications, except maybe for “pins” in D7 21.6. So I’m not sure if that one is allowed?
I have attached a picture of the two guns in question. I would, of course, remove the magwells from them for the match.

I tested A7 and 3n38 yesterday in 38SC. 11gr of A7 behind a 124gr landed my gun at 1360. 9.6gr of 3n38 produced the same results. A7 definitely feels softer in the hands and both of them dot tracked pretty similar. I’m going to test some more today for cleanliness and recoil while recording.

I have a couple Beretta 92X performance pistols pretty nicely set up for carry optics but I carry a Glock G45 and decided it would be fun to shoot a Gen5 G34 in competition and surprisingly won an auction with a lowball offer so it all came together for me to try this "for fun" idea...Thing is my Berettas are pretty nicely tuned for my 130ish PF loads and they shoot great. So I want to set up the G34 to shoot as nicely as possible..I know these guns come with the double spring guide rod and are pretty heavily sprung to handle all kinds of ammo... so I definitely want to address that as well as the heavy trigger pull. Not knowing much about what people are doing with Glocks in competition, I'm assuming going to a non captured steel guide rod and single spring around 11 to 14 lbs would be the ticket there, with a lighter striker spring and a lighter connector? I'll be running an RTS 2 on it, if that matters..I also need recommendations on an extended mag release and mag base plates for 140mm OAL, I know the TTI's probably work fine but wondering if there's anything else I should consider...Thanks for your help!

Your aggressive entry made you out of control and slowed your first shot down a lot. Its also really bad to train "falling" out of the fault line.
That’s a really good observation. I felt out of control there at the end and it did slow me down. Throughout the practice session I struggled with that last position the most. Great feedback!! Thank you!!

I think to do well you pretty much have to exit the first position fast (you shot the wide open target pretty much standing still) and stay moving on the center pair. Been a while since I shot this one.
One-footing the last position works ok but if you had to go somewhere else from there in the stage you'd be hosed so for general training (versus "hundo this classifier"), I'd work on being stable there.
Yeah, it's a lot to do and most of us don't, but there you go...
First shot was about 1.34 if I remember correctly. Rather slow but I’m also truing to be consistent in my movement so I can land the dot where I’m looking. I have a lot of work to do in m draw and have not yet developed a good index. This is all great feedback, thank you so much!!

True, so would I have been better off to move quicker to the second position and slow down there for a bit to engage those two targets then move quickly to the last position?
Also can you explain what you mean by glacial draw? I’m currently working on improving my draw so this will help a bunch.

tried the 8# spring with 172PF loads and it shot pretty flat and smoothly. I will test more in upcoming days since I installed a 13# hammer spring and CZC extended firing pin

Hi,
I run around 172PF in my loads and was running an 11# recoil spring with decent results but decided to try an 8# one to see how it affects the function of my Czechmate. Are there any dangers that I could hurt the gun by running such a light spring with major PF loads? I haven't shot with the lighter spring yet but figured I'd ask around before doing so... would running a buffer help mitigate any of the potential downsides?

I was running 7.6gr of Longshot before and it was pretty strong. Will actually probably back down from my current 7.4 to 7.2 or even 7.0. Longshot is a great and underrated powder. The only downside I find is it’s a bit louder. Noticeably so, but nothing unbearable. I’ve shot it in indoor winter matches and though people make fun of me, nobody has seriously complained about it. They chalk it up to me being a loud Open division shooter.

I did. They all started well below major and I built up until they met major and then up to about 170PF. Longshot and 3N38 both passed 175PF with the max load I tested, while I only reached 170ish with 9.6 of #7. Still lower PF and bigger flash for #7, in this test at least.

For what it’s worth, that didn’t happen with the other two powders while it happened consistently with A#7. I have lots of pictures like the one I posted from that session and the other two powders as well.
A#7 also left dusty residue on the table and everything on it while the other powders were much cleaner. These are just my observations from this session. YMMV

Longshot 7.4gr (price I paid per lb: $28.20) - average velocity 1437.3 fps (178.23 PF) Notes: Flat shooting but LOUD, clean burning and low flash. Meters very well. Slide moves fast, can probably comfortably hit major PF with 7.0gr and have the slide cycle slower and more mildly. Despite this load not filling the case up to the rim, it works the compensator quite nicely.

Accurate No. 7 9.6gr (price I paid per lb: $35.99) - average velocity 1360.6 fps (168.71 PF) Notes: Quieter than Longshot but considerably "flashier" and dirtier. Meters well but since the granules are small tends to be messier in a progressive press. Case is packed full, slightly compressed charge. It shot softly but due to how dirty it is, how much smoke and flash you get, I won't be using it for indoor USPSA matches. Outdoor should be fine, as long as you clean your gun well. I didn't load 9.8gr but that would probably work well with guns with popples, just a thought. Attached is an image demonstrating the pistol under recoil, for reference.

VV 3N38 8.6gr (price I paid per lb: $49.99)- average velocity 1412.1 (175.1 PF) Notes: My favorite of the 3 but also the most expensive. Clean burning (considerably cleaner than A#7 and perhaps a bit cleaner than LS), low flash, quieter than Longshot. Super flat and soft recoil, low to no perceivable flash and low noise. Meters well and fills up the case nicely. 8.6gr, in my case, the charge was compressed pretty tightly and I had a little trouble achieving a consistent 1.165" OAL because of this. I also tested 8.2 and 8.4 grains and will probably stick to 8.2gr with this powder and gun combination since the 8.2gr charge consistently hit 169 to 170 power factor in my Czechmate, shot very flat and burned cleanly. Either way, I found that between 8.2 and up to 8.6 worked very well. Perhaps 8.4 is a good load for cold weather? Either way, you can't go wrong with this powder.
In conclusion, I'm going to use Longshot for my bulk practice ammo and club matches, and probably 3N38 for practice for majors and major matches. Although, quite frankly, I'd be just fine sticking with Longshot for all around use. It's a bit loud but that's why we own quality ear protection. Longshot is cheaper, easy to find, flat shooting, clean burning, meters well in a progressive press and because it uses less powder to achieve the same PF (still shoots very flat), I can make about 100 more rounds per lb with it than 3N38 and almost 200 more than A#7.

Yes AA#7 has alot of greyish smoke out of my comp and popple holes. But its the first powder that I actually feel the gas on my face when shooting it. Its the flattest load Ive messed with to date.
This is me messing with HS6, autocomp, 3N38, true blue, Silhouette, LongShot and now AA#7.
How was your experience with 3N38?

Makes sense! Yeah I think I’m going to narrow my testing down to A#7 which creates a lot of gas but is dirty, Longshot which I am already using, and 3N38 which has a good reputation for being clean while working comps and popples well.
