  1. Want to replace my stock STI trigger in my Trojan. It has a lot of side and up/down play and is generally sloppy. I've tried to adjust it as

best I can but I would need to start adding material to the bow to make it fit the frame and take the slop out,  to be honest I'm not sure how good I could get it and the time it would take doesn't make sense considering the cost of a replacement. So any recommendations for an after market replacement. I'm looking for a medium length trigger that has scope for fitting.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. A couple of things to think about before pinning a grip safety. Firstly check the USPSA rules, I know in IPSC if you have a safety fitted it must be operational so no cutting off tabs it would have to be pinned.

Secondly and more importantly it is a safety And is there to protect you and others.

  3. Fit the grip safety and thumb safety together along with sear and hammer. Once these are all functioning properly you can then work on the hammer and sear engagement if that's what you want. The rest of the blacksmithing works and finishing can be done  after that.

  4. I'm careful about solvents and cleaners near or around the FO so I don't think it's an issue in my case.

I just installed a new FO and used the super glue trick. Shot a comp this weekend and it's still there and will put another 350 + through next weekends big comp so that will be over 500 rounds so will report back after that.

I had Adam from Atlas Gunworks build me a .40 cal single stack. Amazing gun, even better customer service. Perfect fit and finish and best trigger I've ever felt. Best is that I shoot both major and minor with it. I liked my experience so much, Adam is building me a limited gun

Can I ask what your minor load is? Some say 40 cal minor is nicer to shoot than 9mm minor.

Titegroup doesn't seem hurt my fiber rod on a Shadow. I buy the sections from Shooters Connection. I have noticed that if you try to use scissors or a wire cutter you can damage the rod. Also if you have a holster that allows the muzzle to extend out the bottom, you can ding the rod on the holster when drawing.

Use a razor blade to cut it. Use a full length holster and do not get a scratch/ding on the rod. Should not be a problem.

I must agree I don't think TG is to blame it's just a coincidence. I think Brooke may have hit upon something, I use wire cutters to trim the FO before I bulb it with heat. Maybe I'm damaging the FO when I cut it.

I shoot TG too.  Don't think thats it.  Could you be roasting the bulb and it gets brittle?  When you say they are breaking are you finding them broken still in the gun or do they completely fall out?

I can see when they break when I'm shooting. They stay within the blade of the sight then another course of fire usually sends then flying.

I'm using 1mm rod that I bought a 6" length from an STI distributor, it seems to be genuine FO and not the cheap plastic rod but I can't be sure.

  8. Boys, I seem to be going through rather a lot of fibre optic rods. How long should I expect one to last? I'm using a Dawson front sight on my 9mm Trojan shooting minor and I'm installing them as per Dave's video. I seem to break a rod every 500 rounds, surly this can't be right?

  9. If you hang on IPSC production optics division will be in place soon, so affordable reliable guns that work straight out the box with optics on. The comp season in Canada where I am is almost over believe it or not so you should be well placed to hit the ground running for next years comp season.

    Just a thought!

  10. In IPSC classic division we are not allowed to lighten our slides but we also don't have a weight limit so we all run heavy guide rods which really do make all the difference. So for USPSA I would Try and reduce the guns weight to a minimum by replacing everything below the slide with Aluminum eg mainspring housing, mag well, use lightweight grip panels anything to get the weight down with the aim of putting the heaviest full length guide in you can. This will help with muzzle flip. If you are allowed to lighten the slide also consider doing this. As for loads some say that 147 gr loads produce softer recoil, I've tried them all and it's a matter of personal preference. For me 124 gr loads return the front sight to target quicker but it's a snappier felt recoil compared to the 147 gr loads.
