  1. Some insight from IDPA on Facebook.

    Sig P320 X-Five in IDPA

While IDPA does not normally comment on the legality of specific gun models, preferring to let the listed rule criteria do its job, there have been a few extra questions on the X-Five.

First, the P320 X-Five delivers with four 21 round magazines. While nice, these magazines when inserted make the gun too large to fit the IDPA box. You will have to purchase 10 or 17 round magazines to be legal for IDPA.
The X-Five is advertised as having a bull barrel. There is no rule against a bull barrel, only heavy or coned barrels.

The X-Five comes from the factory with an added magazine funnel. This funnel does fit the IDPA box and would be legal in ESP. However, this funnel would have to be removed to shoot the gun in SSP. It is a single Allen screw and can easily be accomplished by the end user.

The last issue revolves around the advertised “removable grip weight.” IDPA has reviewed the gun and come to the conclusion that this weight is an integral part of the grip from the factory and legal. The weight is not easily removed and reinserted by the end user without the possibility of voiding the manufactures warranty. It is not an “add on weight” as defined under rule.8.1.8. So the gun is legal as it comes with the factory weight. That being said, removing the weight and replacing it with a heavier weight would be illegal.

  2. Give Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club a look. Have to be a member to use anytime. But can participate in matches without being a member. IDPA, USPSA, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun. 50, 200 and 600 Yard Rifle Ranges. Action Area where you can draw from holster or shoot rifle. Located in Palm Bay within reasonable proximity west of I-95. Off Malabar Road.

Ordered Red Hill Tactical holster for XFive on May 3 and it was delivered today. They claimed about 30 days, and they were spot on. Looks great by the way, nicely done RHT.

Just noticed mine is Out for Delivery today--ordered May 4.  Looking forward to seeing how it looks.

  4. I received my X5 today, I think I like it. I'll take it to the range tomorrow and know for sure.

I am having trouble finding a holster. Who has solved this problem and where did you find a holster?

    Thanks

Ben Stoeger is selling a Blade Tech for the 320 X5. Also any that are not closed at the bottom and fit the full size will work. I have one from Double Alpha Academy that works.
  5. There are at least 2,500 were initially produced and are out there now. Some distributors getting X5s by the palette. I am seeing seeing as lot if posts form random people who are picking their up from their local FFLs over the past few days. The X5 is out there now and it's out in numbers.

My LGS gets them directly from Sig. They got 11--7 of which were spoken for (including mine).
  6. hahah, it doesn't! i even took all the screws out and kinda forced it. 2mm wider doesn't sound like much sure is when you try putting the gun in a different gun's holster.

Hmm. A few days late on reading this. I too tried taking the screws out. Oh well, back it goes. Guess I will give RHT a try.
  7. I was very happy with the service when ordering my Shadow 2. Ordered last Friday online. Got an email from Stuart that day. Sent info on LGS and the shipping info was sent to FedEx Sunday. Picked up pistol Wednesday.

  8. Just joined and wanted to pop in and say hello.  Pretty new shooter--starting getting into the sport in 2015 and after joining a local club last July, I decided to try my luck with a little competitive shooting.  Did my first match in December 2016--Steel Challenge.  Did my first UPSA match earlier this month and plan to do IDPA on Sunday.  Lots of fun but need a lot of work to improve my accuracy--trigger control and hold.  Will keep at it and check in here for any tips.
