I've been on the fence about reloading for years, mostly because I don't really know how to do it and I'm not all that mechanically inclined. I guess it cant be too hard based on some of the nitwits I shoot with lol

If running a 1911, Dawson has a nice magazine release that angles back towards the thumb and is really easy to reach. A set of VZ grips with the Super Scoop option also helps a lot.

Buckle up, it's not a cheap sport

Plan on losing about 20% of the purchase price on a used STI

I'm down for a 10 spot

maybe in an old school Dirty Harry Shoulder Holster

would be fun though. 5.7 is like shooting a BB Gun on steroids

make sure to bring a mag brush. when it gets sloppy out, especially at our club you end up getting tons of mud and sand in the mags

I bought some factory loaded 9mm major from Atlanta Arms and they load 147's for some reason. They seem to shoot fine.

I think its going to be a love/hate with this bag. I used it for the first time today. It looks great, holds lots of stuff in easy to find places. Heavy Mo Fo though.

I like to shoot with people that are better than me, not hard to find by the way. One of my friends made GM today at our match. Very cool!

OK, I guess I'm slow, but are you saying that pulling the slide back from the rear serrations and catching the round from the air is dangerous? How is that different than pulling the slide back and letting the round fall to the ground? I'm new so don't slay me for asking.

Has anyone used any of the ORM 9 major. I see they offer it in 115 and 124 grain options. Price is much more reasonable than Atlanta Arms. As low as .34 per round vs .44 cents.

if you are like me, that won't take long. I usually go through mine every week or two looking to see what i dont need for the day and try to lighten the load a little.
I've had the same broken down range bag for 3 years. I can't wait to use this at my match tomorrow!

matt cheely did mine - super fast turn around time.
Hi, approx how much did it cost to get Cheely to install the slide racker on your Steelmaster?

Well, I managed to get my wife to buy me one for my birthday, now I just have to fill it up with shooting gear!

Agreed. I don't have calloused hands and the grip (two of them, actually) never "grated" my skin. It's a definite grip, once you grab on strongly, but it still allows for grip corrections if you loosen your grip on it. Great for humid days and sweaty hands. I've only used grip enhancer (liquid chalk) a couple of times this season, on particularly "drippy" days.
Also, if you think it's too aggressive, take a file and *gently* round off the points until it suits you.s s
(Wonder how anybody tolerates skateboard tape, which is pretty popular. "Eeew, it's so rough and raspy on my pretty hands" )
Thanks. good tip on rounding the points to take it down a notch.

I have a grip on the way with Tactical Micropockets from SVI. It's supposed to be in the middle as far as texture goes. I'm hoping its a good compromise between skin hating aggressive and the CK grip I have that is not very grippy.
-
I just recently got a chance to shoot some steel gripped pistols. I think it makes a big difference. I had the aggressive texture Infinity for a brief time and liked it, but decided I didn't want to lose 3 layers of skin every match so I just ordered a different texture.

anytime you get a chance to put rounds down range it should be beneficial
-
just shoot your 9mm in Limited and enjoy it. When you start losing matches by the few points you would have gained in major, then worry about going to 40
-
apparently not enough. I cant navigate past B status. I shoot pretty often but must not be focusing on the right pain points

+1 for SG Ammo. Solid company with good prices. I'm not happy they wont ship to NY any more, even to dealers.

I shoot about 2 per month, plus sometimes a practice night or two
