I've moved to Titegroup behind 147gr bullets can CCI Magnum primers. Seems to work great.

I've been using Power Pistol for my 9mm loads, but will probably be switching to TiteGroup next time I run out of powder.
Using IMR 8208XBR for my .223 loads.

Offset red dot, yes. Offset irons are fine.
Good to know. Thanks!

Do you plan on putting an offset red dot/sights or trying to use the scope at both magnifications?
I would suggest having some cheap 45 degree irons as well.
Assuming you're shooting TacOps, wouldn't this move you to open?

I doubt you'll find any classes on it. Best bet is to find a small match and go do it
I agree with this - I'm a 3 Gun noob (2 matches under my belt), but I've been shooting IDPA and Steel Challenge for a while. Every single one of those events, it's the same advice - you're best off jumping in with both feet and just doing it. 3 Gunners are some of the most helpful and friendly people there are. If you're missing gear, someone will almost certainly loan you what you need. Just go, shoot to your ability, and have fun!

I did the same thing. Use a heat gun and tighten it up quite a bit.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkOK that's brilliant. I'm actually embarrassed that I didn't think of it. Thank you!

What kind of match saver are you using?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkCheap homemade one from 3/4" PVC. I'm gonna stick a small strip of Velcro in it to see if that helps, and if it doesn't, I'll cough up $20 for a commercial one. Just hard to spend $20 on something that's worth about $3...

I've shot for a long time with one eye closed ; but I try to work on keeping both eyes open, especially on pistol strings. I'm finding that the more I work at it, the easier it is and the more accurate my shot placement is.

Shot my second match yesterday. Here are a couple of stage vids, and here's what I've learned:
1) My match saver is way too loose. A couple of rounds downrange and it comes out. Must fix before next month's match.
2) I need to slow down and keep my stage plan on track. I get ahead of myself an miss targets, causing me to have to backtrack.
3) I'm gonna have to make my pistol load a tad bit hotter. It wasn't playing nice with some of the steel.
4) My shotgun loading has improved IMMENSELY from last month.
Overall, a blast as usual! -
I have LCT - I can crank out 200+/hour of pistol. Rifle takes longer because you have to prep the brass, of course. I love it, I think it's a great machine for the price.

I'm a 3 Gun newbie, just shot my first match last month. But, here's what I carry:
Guns:
Springfield XDM 9mm pistol (19rd magazines)
AR15 I built specifically for 3 Gun
Mossberg 930 JM Pro shotgun
Magazines/carriers:
3 pistol mags (2 in mag carrier, 1 in pistol)
2 30 round PMags (one in rifle, one in mag pouch on the rear of my belt)
2 2x2 shotshell carriers in the front

Looks fun! Good job keeping calm and recovering from frustrations.
Thanks! I about died when I pulled my pistol and the $*()@ mag fell out haha. Talk about feeling like a noob!
The sad part is, I've been shooting pistol comps for a year now lol

Here's a link to a video from one of the stages - you can see the troubles I had reloading shotgun, and I'm moving slow due to rolling an ankle while resetting the prior stage (not my most shining moment, granted lol). But, overall, I did have a good time and I'm ready for the match this month (after, of course, IDPA and Steel Challenge this weekend).

I'm using 30rd PMags with the window. Had to shave down the ribs on the back so they'll fall free with my Arredondo magwell.

Good to hear you had fun. Practice, practice, practice. Where are you located?

I'm definitely gonna have to practice my shotgun loading, and my breath control - I had some pistol accuracy issues because of that. When I slowed down and gathered myself, I was back on target.

HAD A BLAST!!!
Had issues reloading shotgun, but it was a technique issue (wasn't seating the rounds completely, and one round would go partially into battery and lock the gate), but otherwise absolutely loved it. Will be back next month for sure!

I'm here ready to go; turns out one of the RO's is an old friend!
-
So, as the title states, I'm shooting my first 3-Gun match tomorrow. I've been shooting Steel Challenge about a year, and started shooting IDPA matches a month ago. Any advice for a noob to 3-Gun?
-
Lots of XDMs being shot out here. Shoot one myself, and love it.
-
Most I've seen are pretty close in height - are you against using a picatinny riser?

The one thing I give them credit for is they announced it and it showed up in gun stores the same day. The nearby ranges where you can rent guns are having them available for rent later this week.
I was hoping for something other than an AR though. A pistol caliber carbine that accepted XDM magazines would have been cool.
I would be in line to buy one right now if they did that.

I'm running a 2 port compensator, and it shoots flat. I don't see a reason to go 3.

Tested the gun this evening, and it's confirmed... I'm a moron lol
Gun is cycling perfect now. This thing shoots AMAZING!

I love my RHT setup. The DOH hanger is pretty slick ; you don't have to take it completely apart to change the height. Nothing special or funky you have to do to fit it.
I attached a pic of my 3 gun rig. All RHT mag pouches and holster, DA twin quad load carriers.
