  1. What about......

Making box A a barricade, placing barrels or no shoots strategically to limit the angles on the middle targets and eliminating that box C. Also stipulating the three center targets in the last array be shot through the port and placing a limit line at the far end, right, adjecent to the barricade prohibiting movement past it.

    Just my .02

Jimmy, I like the way you think. Time to put that creativity to use.

You have just been volunteered to design and set up a stage at this month's IPSC match at your club.

Please contact me for details amigo.

    :D

    (sorry for the thread drift...)

  2. Sad news indeed. One of the nicest guys around. My condolences to his family.

I first met Dennis back in '93 or so when I was match director for a local monthly 3-gun match. For a Cowboy shooter Dennis was damn fast as a 3 gun shooter. He sure made believers out of a lot of us that thought SASS shooters were slow...

This was around the era when he was a 3 time World Champion in SASS.

We shot together at a couple of the SOF matches in Las Vegas on the team events in 94, 95. Last I saw him was right after he broke his collarbone on a quad.

    He will be missed.

  3. Is the F2 Comp still being used?

For awhile it seemed to be one of the best based on user reports. Now I don't hear about it much anymore. Nor have I seen it compared to other AR comps, like Bennie's Rolling Thunder or the Titan.

    Any user feedback?

    Thanks!

  4. Jim,

Over at our home range we have Iguanas that have found the range free of predators so that they flourish handily. They are large white and beautiful. They even do their mating rituals on the berms in the late spring. It always cracks a few of us up. Seems a lizard has to do alot of fighting and posturing to get a date.

I guess that's not so diffeent from us :goof:

Hey, JimmyZip. Those are Fringe-toed lizards. There are so many of them now we had to keeping waiting for them to move from under the plate machines before shooting this past Thursday and Friday. At least 6 of them using our bay as their 'playground'.

The land across the road from the lower gate to the range is a preserve for them. Every 4-6 weeks throughout the summer, females will lay a clutch of 1-5 eggs (average 2). In 1980 this lizard was listed as a threatened species by the federal government.

  5. 1) No pistol grip on semiauto shotgun in CA. Period. ( unless it was registered as an AW prior to Jan 2000 )

Not sure where you quoted the above from, but the following AW definitions are cut and pasted from the CA DOJ BOF web site. You can have a pistol grip on a semi auto shotgun as long as there is no folding or telescoping stock.

A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:

    A folding or telescoping stock.

A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.

A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine.

Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Of course, compliance with 922r issues on the fed level is another issue..

  6. Just received 2 Nordic Tec Loader extensions. I have only used the stock 4 rounders in the past. (My Open Benelli has a 10 + 1 + 1 capacity.)

I was wondering what the consensus of experienced users was for tec loader extension capacity. It seems like there may be a point of diminishing returns.

Which length do you find most useful? Before I start cutting and gluing I would appreciate any input.

    Thanks!

  7. I can't even use exposed lead base FMJ bullets in a comp gun. Totally fills in the chambers with molten lead.

Recently had a 9mm minor steel gun compensator so filled up with that even the dremel could not get it all out.

I purchased one of those Outer Foul Out electrolysis gizmos, and after 8 hours of baby sitting it (as it overloaded with lead every 20 minutes,) finally got it clean.

  8. Gringo -

You're twisting the Tec Loaders more when you load weakhand....You can do it but shove the loader straight in and then let it go, don't twist it.

Scout, I agree with you. I think I was subconsciously drifting left when I pushed...time to practice again.

Just an observation, but when static loading tubes strong vs weak hand there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in time, but when loading dynamic, like running, weak hand is way faster for me.

    Thanks for the advice! :D

  9. ...You loaders worked for a dozen years, then you did somethng different and broke 3 all at once ?

    Yep. That is what happened.

I just noticed something while inspecting all 8 tubes. 2 of them are the "new" style that came with the primer relief cut handles. The tubes are also different then the older version, having a relieved taper from the ears back to the slot.

This different design almost duplicates the way two of them broke as shown in the pictures posted above.

Maybe this was a high stress area all along and the manufacturer corrected this with the new design...

  10. I have one of Benny's lightened Benellis. Agree with above. It functions reliably with one ounce loads, I haven't beeen able to outrun the trigger. I'd have to do a side by side comparison to comment on recoil (but then I've never thought of the Benelli as hard recoiling in the first place).

    +1 !

  11. I am right handed, and had always speed loaded my Benelli using my right hand. Today I practiced using my left hand.

It worked well, except for the fact I broke 3 speed loader tubes.

The M1S90 has an Arredondo chute. I have never broken a tube before. They are pretty old, from about 1994 or so.

So, am I doing something left handed that would cause the tubes to break? Or are they just old and fragile?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. (I only have 5 tubes left... :(

    Thanks!
