  1. Anyone loading Sport Pistol with 200 grain bullets? I ended up with 10 pounds of powder and I would like to try it in single stack major. I’ve only used bullseye in the past.

Follow up question what bullets are you using and where are you finding them?

Shot with one of the Shooters connection guys that had some a month or two back and loved the way they felt on his gun so I followed suit. If you like fat grips I think you might be happy, they greatly pinched the grips in near the top - to the point where you need to install thinner upper grip bushings and shorter grip screws - that part works ok for me but I do not think it is 2011 ish. Couple pics that I think show them more accurately than some of the add pics.

On install it was a pain to get my upper grip bushings out and I ended up destroying them, the shorter grip screws they send were not short enough and I had to fix that on my grinder, and I thought it was cheap arse of them not to include matching lower grip screws. Quibbles aside I am happy with them.

Thanks for the reply and pics. You think they are an improvement over standard shaped oversized grips?

I love mine. The stuff Langdon got Beretta to change are things he knew from years of shooting them.

I actually took a class from Langdon this last summer. He shot his personal LTT that day. This was before they were available for purchase but after they were announced. I didn’t get to shoot it but did get to handle and dry fire it a bit. I really liked the balance better than the BrigTac and better than the Centurion I shot for the class. And his trigger set up is very smooth.

I have two issues with Berettas though. The first is the trigger breaks a long way back for me. I have a lot of rounds through TDA Sigs and it’s a hard thing for me to get used to. The other thing is fixable but not ideal. The oversized Wilson mag release is too big and I inadvertently drop magazines with my weak hand. The standard Beretta extended release fixes this but is a little bit of a compromise getting to the mag release and not breaking my grip. Not a huge deal though.

Ive decided to hold off on buying anything for the moment. I’m in a little bit of a slump with my shooting and don’t really want to try to fix it by buying new gear. On the other hand I feel like finally dumping Glocks as my primary carry and game pistol might give me a bit of a spark.

I'm leaning toward taking a short break from shooting and hitting it again in a month or two. Maybe this will give me a little perspective and a fresh look at things.

Look at the Beretta Elite LTT. Amazing pistol, and if you get the trigger job it is hard to put into words how great it is.

That actually wouldn’t be a bad choice. Super reliable, inexpensive magazines, accurate. And I’m pretty sure I still have several plus two mecgars and a holster shell around here somewhere.

Sure sounds like a CZ or TZ.

I was all set on a Shadow 2 until I realized it was overweight.  TZ=Tanfoglio?  Any particular model that would fit better than others?  Stock 2 seems to be the most popular but it looks like Stock 3 meets weight also.

I probably should have clarified above that I'm currently shooting single stack.  I would really like to get away from that platform for a while though. No particular reason, just looking for a change.

  6. I’m looking for ideas for a pistol that I can shoot in limited minor and ESP. I’m looking for something that is not polymer and either SA or SA/DA. I shoot mostly for fun so I’m willing to make some compromises on the pistol. In other words it doesn’t have to be the ideal pistol for either class as long as its legal for both.

Oh, no 2011’s either. I would like to keep the cost down and the price of 2011 magazines scares me.

Edited to correct the title to ESP.

  7. My 12 year son is really starting to get interested in action shooting.  I've had him shooting a 22/45 for a couple of years now and he does really well with it.  It's not really set up well for action shooting though.  He's old enough that he would like to start practicing draws and reloads.  I would like to stick with a 22 at this point.  It's less expensive to feed it so he can shoot a lot more and I think the mild recoil is helping him develop good fundamentals.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 22 caliber pistol that will allow him to work on reloads?  He has fairly big hands for a kid his age and is continuing to grow.  I've thought about the M&P 22 but don't really know anything about it.  What other options are out there?  Berretta 92 in 22?

  8. Anyone found a load the is grouping well in a 5" 9mm Mod 2? A friend of myself have been testing one out and can't find a recipe that works. It's oddly super accurate with Win white box but nothing we've rolled ourselves is coming close. Trying to stick with bullseye or tite group for powder.

  9. Well crud. Might have to rethink it then. The Ameriglo you listed doesn't look terrible though. I had Defoors on my Glocks for awhile and thought they worked okay for me.

    Thanks for the help.

  10. I picked up a like new 229-1 with Siglites on it. I would like to keep the tritium front that's on it but the rear sight is really distracting.

It is shooting point of aim. What all black rear sight could I put on it that will work with the stock front and keep my POI?

  11. Well I couldn't get the front sight to budge. Took it to a guy I trust and he couldn't get the sight to move either. The rear sight would have to hang over the edge of the slide to get it shooting POA so I guess I'll be calling Smith next week.

Never seen a set of sights this tight.
