  1. I agree, it is nice to see people you know in the magazine.

I do however have to express my extreme disappointment with the fact that there was no picture of the Open Ladies National Champion, Rebecca Jones. Not only was there no photo, she was hardly mentioned at all. I think she deserved more respect than that.

By saying this, I mean no disrespect at all to those who were mentioned or had their pictures in the article...but I do feel she did not receive the recognition she deserved.

  2. Congrats Athena!! Great match, you deserve it !! :)

I am still working on chasing you and Kay :P You guys are always awesome!! Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.

And thanks to Rebecca and Eva for all your support during the match. It was great shooting with you both! Hopefully we will have better gun luck next time ;) I look forward to shooting with you again....

We had a great squad - thanks to all you guys! I had a lot of fun shooting with you all!

  3. Well, Area 6 didn't quite turn out as I would have hoped.......probably one of my worst matches ever. And way more penalties than I care to count.... :(

But even with that, I was able to walk away with a smile, at least knowing that I had enjoyed myself and that there is always another match around the corner. That is a lesson that I have been trying to grasp since I started shooting. So in that respect I was successful.

I had the chance to meet Jane too! Sorry we didn't get much time to talk......hopefully next time! :)

Congrats Athena! Awesome finish, I would have like to seen some it!

Kay, great job to you too! What a finish after minoring......I knew you'd still do great.

Thanks to all who made this match happen! It was a great match....very friendly and great stages!

  4. I also wear the ladies 5.11 pants and shorts. I love them! Nothing has come close to being as comfortable. Plus I like having my belt around my waist. I feel like it is much more secure there when I move and run. I also recommend taking your mags off your belt when you are not shooting. This will help to cut down on your hips or lower back hurting.

It just takes a lot of experimentation to decide what is comfortable and works for you.

    Good luck,

    Megan :)

  5. Thanks to everyone who helped put on the match. It was a great time!

And a very big thanks to i-SHOT for sponsoring both team-i and the match....

I finished the match at 125 (and change) seconds. I can't remember the exact time. Stage 6 was definitely my best with a 18:32 time! :D But I fell apart on my last 2 stages. The Texas Star stage was my worst, although not because of the star, I just couldn't seem to count (or reload) for anything!

    Next year Phil........

  6. Hey Rebecca! I'm glad to see you here...

Rebecca is an awesome shooter! I really enjoy having her in my area to compete against. She is a very sweet and humble person. You can always expect a good race when she shoots....she certainly is pushing me!

    Thanks Rebecca!!

I look forward to seeing you this season. See you at Fredericksburg!

    Megan :)

    P.S. Congrats on your A card.....that's great!!!

  7. Thanks to everybody for all of their kind words and well wishes! :)

It just goes to show what great people we have in our sport!!!

I am looking forward to seeing you at the matches!

See you all soon............( I better start practicing :o the season will be here before we know it!)

  8. Hi Sharyn!

I am glad to hear that you are recovering well :)

Thanks for the kind words on my bio.....

For those of you who don't know Sharyn, she has one of the most enthusiatic and dedicated attitudes towards IPSC, as well as being good shooter. And is a lot of fun to be around!

Sharyn-I look forward to shooting with you again this season!!!

  9. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Wow....to hear such great compliments from not only two of the nicest ladies on the range, but also two of the greatest shooters there are!!!

Julie and Kay are certainly people I look up to and strive to be like in our sport.

I will definitely keep trying to catch them though!! :P

  10. Hello!

My name is Megan Madigan. I began shooting IPSC in Aug. 2003.

I didn't have any real experience with guns at all, prior to 2002. I had only taken a course in hunters safety in school when I was 12 (growing up in rural PA, this was a requirement for all kids!), and shot a pistol once on a tour of the Arizona desert. (I did hit the soda can though :o ) So, neither of these count as REAL experience....

But, once I met my fiance (you may know him.....Ron Francisco  ) that all changed. It was on our first date that he put his Open gun in my hand and had me shooting at his Beam Hit. I did enjoy it, but didn't really think too much about it. He immediately started taking me to the range so I could learn. I first began shooting (in 2002) with his Para Ordinance LDA 40 S&W. But about 6 months later he bought me my first STI Open gun!

I still wasn't sold on me competing though. So, I just tagged along with him to matches for most of the 2003 season, really enjoying just watching. But somewhere along there, I decided that I wanted to try it too :)<_<:)

So, in Aug. 2003 I attended my first match at Shooters Paradise. I was pretty much hooked from there!

I haven't had much opportunity over the last 2 years to shoot with many of the lady shooters(although I have had the chance to talk to quite a few :) ), but I have been surrounded by some of the best male shooters in the sport. Not only did I (and still do) have an incredible shooter as my own personal coach (Thanks Ron!), I also had Phil Strader, Todd Sindelar, Mike Seeklander, Eric Lund, and BJ Norris supporting me and helping me along the way! These guys have been incredible to watch and learn from. (Thank you team Shooters Paradise!)

In the beginning of 2004 I gave up my first open gun and started shooting a Brazos Pro Sx. This gun has taken me a long way in my short career. I was even able to make my way into the Top 8 Ladies at the 2005 Open Nationals!!! :D

Now I am so hooked I had to change my wedding date, just so it wouldn't interfere with the Nationals!!!! How crazy is that?

I look forward to continuing my IPSC journey and hopefully will get the opportunity to meet you all!

  11. I was wondering about Athena and Doni and Julie too! Do you know what's up with them?

Sharyn - of course it's an honor and "making" it to the Super Squad has been my number one goal since I went to my first nationals way back in 1998. Normally, lesser known lady shooters, such as myself, don't get included unless we win an Area Match. I'd sure like to know what criteria they used to make their selections this year cause the only Area match I shot was 6 and I sure as hell didn't win it :)

From what I've heard... Doni is shooting with her hubby (we'll miss you, Doni). Megan is shooting with her new fiance. (Congrats! Megan). JG is shooting with us for Open/L10 but earned a slot for the PRODUCTION Super Squad for the L/P/R match! :D Athena's on the wait list hoping for no shows. :o

    Renee,

Thanks for the congrats! Ron and I are pretty excited!

It was indeed an honor to be placed on the Ladies Super Squad with you and the rest of the girls. I am very grateful for the opportunity. Some time I would like to have that chance again. For now, I am going to stay with Ron and the other guys on my team.

Good luck to you and all the other girls! I will see you all in Barry!

    Megan :)

  12. Out of curiosity, how does the national org. determine which shooters belong on the Super Squad?

It would appear from the Opn/L10 lists that there was not a huge return of last years Top 16 in both divisions!

Actually, there are several returning Open shooters who finished in the Top 16 last year, but were not squadded in the Super Squad. It seems that everyone in the Open Super Squad is a GM. Maybe that was the criteria this year.

  13. Since I began shooting, I have been surrounded by M's and GM's. I believe that shooting with them since the beginning has allowed me to progress quicker than those who have not had this opportunity. These top guys are a fountain of knowledge (when I listen, that is). Not only have they pushed me, they have showed me when to slow down when I get ahead of myself. I have learned so much just by watching them. And they are forever trying to teach me stage breakdown......I still need help here. They have been a wonderful support system for me. Not only do I shoot matches with them, I am fortunate enough to have one of them teach me how to practice too (this sometimes requires the patience of a SAINT). I wish every beginner had the opportunities I have had.

With all of this said, I have one more thing to say.........

Thank you to all of my brothers on Team Shooters Paradise!!! You are all amazing shooters as well as friends!

And Ron I'll just say this.........
