  1. Thanks everyone for the help. Looks like there is a new mag pouch in my future.

    Doug

I tried looking for this using the search function but had no luck. I am looking for a little new gear for 2012 but have heard that the belt fed mag pouch may be illegal or going to be made illegal. Has anyone else heard this. Thanks for the help.

    Doug

If that is the box fed unit, it will be illegal in 2013.

The belt feed is four individual mag pouches bolted together in a staggered configuration, so that the four pouches occupy the real estate of ~ 3 pouches....

I can't think of a reason why that wouldn't be legal, if it meets the distance criteria -- and that should be easy considering how slim SS mags are....

Yep the words "belt feed" made me question it.

    Gary

I know you old guys have trouble keeping up with all the latest gadgets on the market...... :D :D

Now Gordon Davis pouches or Ernie Hill leather -- those you'd probably remember......

What do you mean remember? I still have some :roflol:

  3. Slight Thread Drift Here:

Aircooled6racer, I think I remember you getting one of the STI Spartans in 9mm. If so how is that gun working with the Tripp mags? Are you happy with it? I thinking of the same set-up and wanted a little feed back. Thanks for your help.

Thread drift off You are now being returned to your regular thread.

Hello: I have some Tripp 10 round 9mm mags that are hard to load to 10. I load them up and leave them overnight, I then download them and do it again. The spring will relax some and they will load easier then. That reminds me I need to do the new mags I got. Thanks, Eric

  4. Well I tried all of the tips here! Thanks everyone. I was able to build 500 rounds of 45 ACP ammo afterwards but the lock ring is still moving ever so slightly but it is moving. Sure seems like a set screw would be in order. If anyone has any other suggestions I am all for them. Thanks

  5. Doug,

    I feel your pain!

I keep finding them in the 5 gal. of 38 spl that I bought for CAS loads :angry2: this is even more fun when running a Dillon, it has a tendancy to break the rythm and also can lead to a heavy charge. Good thing we are running a light load.

The only thing comperable is the 38 spl cases that take a LARGE pistol primer

Or being on the other end of the spectrum 45 ACP that take small pistol primers. I sort all my brass by headstamp now since I have to sort them to get out this NT crap :angry2: :angry2:

  6. Got a new to me Super 1050 and I am reloading 45 ACP. I cannot keep the lock ring above the shell plate tight. I have read the Dillon Manual and they just say to tighten the tabs. That ain't doing it for mine. Thought about blue Loctite but thought I would check with the experts here. Also did a search but I may not have had the right words listed. Thanks in advance for your help.

  7. When buying .45 once-fired brass, be aware that Speer makes both large and small primer brass and you probably don't want to have that mix. I ordered 1,000 once fired Speer and 70% of them were small primer. Brass marked "NT" have small primer pockets. IIRC, Winchester and Federal make such brass and probably more that I'm not aware of. The Speer I had wasn't marked "NT".

Bottom line---things sure slow down loading 45's on a progressive when you come to the small primer brass.

"A-MERC" brass---I agree with everyone's opinion. Junk. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who's buddy had a stoppage at their local IPSC match. Case stuck very tightly in the chamber and they had to pound it out. It was AMERC. He reloads a lot but had never heard the warning about the brass. (He doesn't "do" the internet :)

Winchester and Federal also make small primer (NT) brass. If you are loading on a progressive be sure to sort out all NT brass

I also agree with everyones opinion of A-MERC. Otherwise my 45's will eat just about anything but if I lived in a perfect world and could get any headstamp I wanted I would vote for Winchester and Federal.

  8. Thanks Joel and everyone who has posted here,

I lost my wife 2 years ago this past Thanksgiving and wish I had found this thread then.

Three Christmas' have passed and this has been the worst. The first I was just too numb. Only a month had passed. Last year I think I wanted to show everyone that I was ok. But this year has been the the worst.

The only constructive thing I can add to this is to get everything in order right now. Don't procrastinate. I figured that we were only in our early 50's = plenty of time. WRONG. Julie was fine on Monday and gone on Thursday. Cherish every moment with those you love.

    Doug

  9. Sorry to hear about your lousy run of luck. Hope things get better soon!

Sounds kinda like the way this week is going for me.

A week ago this past Saturday spent the day getting tires on my truck $900.00.

Then last Thursday brakes all the way around. $500.00

Saturday a guy in town was yelling to tell me one of the new tires was low.

Got home and the water heater was leaking $500.00

And now I have a plumber here unclogging the kitchen sink.

Oh well it's just money - Gives me a reason to go to work in the morning.
