  1. We actually stopped doing that on this version of the UWL, as I just didn't like the way the cuts were coming out. HOWEVER, we are coming out with a next gen UWL that is going to be absolutely drop dead sexy

Yeah I saw it and am patiently waiting. So how much longer do I have to be patient? I’ve got four ULWs that just became a lot less sexy after you posted photos of the new hotness.

  2. This is a lot of powder in a 9mm. 10.5gr of Major pistol for 9major [emoji1]

I’m at 8.9gr HS-6 with a 115gr RMR JHP for 173pf for 9major. 10.5gr of any powder seems like a huge amount. What is your PF?

  3. Anyone care to share load info for 100gr 9mm bullets using Sport PIstol powder ?   please include COL - PF & length of barrel if possible..

    thanks,

OAL depends on your projectile. I have three different OALs depending upon if I run the Berry’s 100gr HBRN, RMR 100gr RN or Gunracer 100gr snubby RN.

It also depends on your intended use. If you shoot Steel Challenge and don’t need to make power factor, 3.7gr of SP is soft and runs about 1020fps out of my Taccom ULW barrel.

For fast cycling minor USPSA loads 5.0-5.2gr of SP works well at about 136 max PF.

  4. I’m considering swapping my PCC barrel. I’m a custom to my current handguard because all my competition ARs have same / similar handguards. This give me the same feel and hand positioning on every one.

Question: Can I run my existing FF handguard (AR15 style) over the Taccom ULW 9mm barrel?
What would be the minimum inside diameter for the handguard?

Yes, any standard handguard will work.

  5. I know USPSA members get a discount on rmr bullets. I use them almost exclusively for all my pistols. The one I have is USPSA2019 for 5 precent. Not sure if the 2019 one will work, uspsa posted that 3 days ago on their Instagram

^This right here. I love the RMR 124 JHP for 9major and PCC.

  6. The two best PCC bolts on the market are JP and Taccom. Both of them have numerous competitors running tens of thousands of rounds through them and they just plain work. Everything else is a crapshoot.

  7. I tried the TC when my 135 RN would not pass plunk test either. Same OAL 1.12. In further research tonight I read that Kaw Valley barrels only like coated bullets at very short OAL unless they are throated. I guess I will have to wait on the plated bullets to see if there is any difference.

I can ream your barrel if interested. When done you can load out to 1.160+ depending on the projectile.

  8. Oh well your talking about a completely different "failure" than most of us are concerned with on pcc triggers. I discovered the finicky adjustability bits before I took these into heavy use and worked all that out with careful preparation, measured torque, and locktite, 10k in on the ar plus several thousand on the pcc and those problems are gone. Some people have heavier trigger fingers than others obviously this product is a no go for your buddy.

I would think everyone should be concerned with a trigger that breaks off, but if that doesn’t bother you then no worries.

  9. I hear you but the most common failure mode in these guns is damage that leads to following and I guess I just assume I can survive that stage under that situation. Also I'm using an mpx with ammo tuned to the gun so I hope I'm not battering it as much as some people may, and I'm shooting 2x4 3 gun not pure pcc so having identical triggers is of value to me and very few stages are pcc only. FYI the CE in my primary match AR has to be close to 10k with zero problems.

Two of the three failures I watched in my buddy’s gun were catastrophic where the trigger bar broke off, effectively ending his stage. The third failure was from the trigger bar extension stripping and allowing the trigger foot to swing out laterally, extending outside the trigger guard. That is an automatic DQ in USPSA since the trigger is no longer covered by the guard. Those are not the kind of failures that you can limp through a stage with unless you can hide the third one from the RO when unloading and showing clear.

  10. I have 2 CE in mpx one around 3,000 the other in a new backup gun. No real problems yet besides the adjustable bits shifting at unfortunate times. ... Will it survive? Probably not forever. I have 2 guns fully setup, so it can only ever hurt me on one stage. First sign of trouble I can switch guns or lowers.

The problem with that logic is it’s likely already cost you the match by the time you can switch to a backup gun. If I could find a reliable sub 2lb trigger with a shorter reset than my Hiperfire 24C I’d buy it, but the Calvin Elite isn’t it.

  11. Broke 3 CE's in a PCC? Because thats the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Not that my 24C has been reliable in my PCC though.

You are correct. All were broken in a PCC that ran previously perfect with a JP trigger. He put in the CE and loved it initially, then broken the first one in a match in 2017. My post about it is in this thread about halfway up. He has broken two more since then and finally gave up on the CE over reliability.

  12. So the Calvin Elite thread is just a Hiperfire fanboi thread now? I have a CE and 24C and the CE is in a different league altogether, not sure why we can't focus on the thread topic.

Different league as in not reliable? After three broken Calvin Elite triggers my buddy finally went to a Hiperfire 24C—well the new version of it anyway.

  13. I can't remember the size of the tap, but basically, I use a tap, that is attached to a long extension, and then from the rear with bolt removed, insert the extension/tap, give about 1/4-1/2 turn just enough to "grab" the case, and pull out.

9mm tap. Remove all cutting threads except the one’s that grab the case, just to make sure you don’t accidentally scratch anything.

  14. I don't disagree with the post above yours that it would be a proprietary powder Federal is using but worth looking into Alliant Sport Pistol. Would be interesting to see if load data supports 3.9gr ASP and a similar type of projectile ( ex. IBE Je Heads 135gr poly) at an approx. listed 1030 FPS. for the Syntech.                                                 Anyone have experience with Alliant Sport Pistol and 9 mm loadings?

I’ve been using Sport Pistol for about a year now and I love it. It’s exactly what everyone says about cleaner burning and it’s more accurate than Titegroup in my guns.

  15. Yes, light loads are a competitive advantage for Steel Change and yes it’s common. It’s also not a good idea to mix up your ammo boxes and accidentally take your steel loads to a USPSA match since they won’t make power factor, they’ll cycle slower so double taps on paper are farther apart, and they won’t knock over any poppers. Ask me how I know...

  16. Elftmann sent a new trigger to my buddy when he had the same problem but it didn’t fix it either. He sold it off and uses a Timney Calvin Elite now. Unfortunately that trigger has broken twice so I suggested he go with the Hiperfire 24c like I’ve been running without issue for two years.
