  1. CKArms all the way. Matt Cheely is the C in CKarms and is a great guy to deal with that does what he promises in a timely manner.

    I agree 100%.

I want to go on record here and now by saying this thread will be locked before the weekend is over. I just have that feeling in my gut.

Is that because of the K in CK? HeHe

  2. I ordered 4 of the 140mm 40s&W mags

first time getting them out was last night

    -all 4 loaded 21 rounds

-1 had a little rattle, but not salt shaker, quick smack on the base pad it stopped

    -pins all pushed out easy

-getting base pad off and the spring out of the way was tricky

-same with lining it back up to get base pad and spring back

-all rounds thumbed out very easy, I have not shot from these

would have liked to have seen the mag bodies polished out like a Brazo's mag, but Brazo's mags are also $20 more each and only 20 rounders reloadable

The base pad and pin set up will be something to see if I like, I have been running Brazo's mags with Dawson base pads for the last several years, so this is a change and we will see how they work out

I completely concur with your description ... I had some rattle in the mag but they functioned well
  3. I have seen more cracked Caspian slides than STI slides. I like STI slides coz they are harder than Caspian slides. Also, they seat lower into the frame so you get to use #2 to #4 barrel links.

    Thank you for that

I have built more than 10 pistols using SVI slides, and so far they haven't cracked. They have very narrow rail widths, about 0.748 in.

The barrel bore is oversize, about 0.705 in. You also have to use their firing pins and firing pin stops. They are slightly different than the standard ones.

  4. Just curious if there was a reason. I've talked to a handful of smiths and a top level GM who recommended Caspian over STI for slides- none pinpointed a particular reason but it was enough for me. I do have an STI slide on my budget SS rebuild.

My custom was built on a PT frame with a Caspian slide and I fit a Caspian firing pin stop and ejector- that went incredibly well as the parts were clearly spec'ed to fit together. The extractor tunnel was a bit tight.

The STI on the other hand, was a different story. STI slide and two different STI firing pin stops and neither were remotely close to fitting without a lot of filing.

I haven't ever tried to fit SV parts. I know you are sending it to a smith but I liked that all the Caspian parts were so close to start and believe the metal to be of good quality.

    Thanks for the insight
  5. I am not sure if there was already a thread about these magazines, I didn't see one.

Does anyone have and use these mags for and STI grip or PT stainless grip? They are supposed to be tuned and race ready right out of the package....Any pros cons? Thanks

  6. Sorry for the delay, I was out of town. I wanted to take it to a steel match but it was rained out and I then went out of town. I did get extra mags from Sooner state arms as well as an IPSC holster. The mags were about $40 each and the holster was $180. Sooner state said they will be receiving a competition model 2nd quarter of this year with F/O sites and a better trigger. They also mentioned a compact model is in the works
