You all that are flipping the rounds in the air because it looks cool are asking for trouble. It is a stupid move and sooner or later , it will catch you. It shows great skills.

I don't think anyone is flipping rounds in the air to look cool, it's a fast/efficient way to clear the gun and retain the round

I did not know that you are on the clock clearing your pistol !!! Turn the gun over, ejection port down and let the round fall to the ground, after you holstered and range is declared safe, pick your round up. You have just lost 5 to 10 seconds of your life by not being efficient, but you and the RO still have your vision, motor skills in your hands, etc. You have spent thousands in your equipment, ammo, travel, match fees, time, etc. One round lost in the grass is not worth it because the round was not "retained". I would not want to see any shooter or RO get hurt, and I truly believe that you would not want it either.

Do you have any actual reason to believe that anyone has been or ever would be hurt by catching a round? I don't.

I have seen inexperienced shooters muzzle themselves attempting this- but that doesn't stop me from doing it.

  2. I am glad you are enjoying the MPX and the SIG Romeo3. I think the fact that it's a rotating bolt versus a blowback gives it a very different feel that the others on the market. Mine shoots great but I haven't had a chance that I test it yet with the new brake. Maybe Friday I can get out.

With the baseplate how many rounds are you getting in the mag?

  3. I don't follow. Why will handgun shooters be bottom of the food chain? They will certainly be shooting faster than the carbine carriers.

A carbine rifle is faster and more accurate than a pistol.

Head to head, pistols cannot compete. In a match overall rankings, a rifle will be dominant. Will you still want to shoot a USPSA. Match given that those who bring a PCC will destroy you?

I really don't care, just consider the question.

Most stages at a USPSA match open guns will still dominate with mobility and scoring.

  4. One thing that I see missing in the PPC situation is the proper representation of DVC. Everyone seems to love PPC because of the cheap or weak sauce ammo that can be shot through it. When I look at the USPSA Handgun Rule book page 3 lists the "Principles of USPSA Competitions". Number 2 on that list says ... Accuracy, power and speed are the equivalent elements of practical shooting and practical competition must be conducted in such a way as to evaluate these elements equally.

Weak sauce ammo shot through a PPC completely blows the "Power" requirement out of DVC. I would liken this situation the same as allowing shooters to use .22LR handguns in USPSA Pistol matches because its cheaper and easier to shoot. Do we really want to neuter the DVC balance in an effort to "Grow the sport"? Personally I would say no and it undermines the fundamental principles of the sport. Accuracy, POWER, and speed are required to be a true balance.

    Is this for real?

  5. I shared all the results I have. I noticed, that is all. Note that I am not talking about their shooting scores, but simply how long it takes to run the shooter, from make ready to range is clear. bagging and unbagging takes time, as does chasing down magazines that are generally not on the belt.

And to be fair, i am talking about rimfire rifles. We have had exactly zero shooters show up with PCC's.

Can't you just unbag in the safe area, walk muzzle up to the start position, and wait until told to make ready while everyone is scoring the last shooter?

Then after ULSC walk muzzle up to the safe area and bag the rifle while others begin scoring?

This is what we've done at the rifle matches I've attended and it seems pretty efficient.

IT a 10 min walk from the safe area to the pits.

Guess I'm just used to having a table at every bay that is the safe area.

  7. I haven't seen the rules for these pistol caliber rifles. Do they have to have barrels less than 16"? If so they would have to be licensed by the ATF and all competitors would have to have they're permit with them in order to shoot the match. So a qualified person would have to be there to check each shooter.

There isn't a license nor a permit to own NFA items, just a tax stamp. You don't have to carry that tax stamp around with you either.

Why would the burden of validating the legality of a competitor's equipment fall on the range?

That's not how I have heard it's done. I thought if you had an auto, sbr, suppressor etc you had to show proof of legality on the spot if asked.

    To ATF agents.

You must have the tax stamp or copy of it with the item. You would not need a qualified person checking anyone with an NFA item at every match, that is ridiculous.

  8. The MD was never involved (as far as I know) the RO was talked out of it by him and his friends. The MD is very well known and would not have let this slide, I work a BIG match for him locally and thats why I go to his matches.

I think the bigger problem is grown men not taking responsibility for their actions!

    That is disappointing.

Not sure how you can justify lighting a round off at waist level looking at the ground while clearing a malfunction. They must of been very convincing.

  9. Is the decocker on the P-09 ambi? The description at CZC says '...the P-09 is shipped with decockers installed but can easily be converted to a manual safety with the supplied parts and instructions.' Being sinister, I prefer a gun with ambi safeties or decockers.

    Yes
