  1. Saw some decent postings online (Armslist), but saw people having potential trouble and getting scammed. Let's assume everything is legit. If I were able to inspect these guns since the seller is in the same state, what should I ask for/look for?

Other than pulling the bolts back and pressing the trigger, what other things can I look for in terms of wear and tear?

Where should I even meet up with the guy? Is the range the only public place I can visually inspect the guns?

Pictures of things to focus on would be great!

    Thanks everyone

  2. If I add an extended choke, will it still point as if it were a 26inch barrel? I didn't know those even existed.

Where do I get a 2" extended choke to use for trap/skeet?

Local gun dealer selling 1301 comp for $1058...but they're out of stock. Should I pay more to get it now or wait?

  3. I talked to Lead-head and I narrowed down my future purchase to the Benelli M2 and the Beretta 1301 (still considering the SX3 as well).

My main question is if the M2 is worth the extra price + $200 worth of parts to make it compliant + extra recoil? The barrel length of the 26 inch field, weight, and reliability make this gun highly desirable.

However, the 1301 has everything set to go minus the barrel extension. That's a hard deal to pass up. Also I heard it's softer shooting despite not adding too much weight.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

By the way, I have already decided that the Versamax does not fit my needs and the FN SLP has too many mixed reviews.

  4. From what I understand of the mechanics of the inertia system, the M2 will fire better the more give the stock has i.e. the more movement occurring in the gun, the better. That being said, it seems that if you pad the stock enough, the recoil between the two guns shouldn't be a big difference? This is all theory of course as I'm trying to understand it better myself.

Also, make sure the gun fits your wife. I'm considering between the two and the versamax doesn't fit me right.

  5. Ugh...I had such high hopes for the SLP, but it seems like everyone is having problems after half a decade or so? I just stumbled upon 2 or 3 topics regarding disgruntled owners. Maybe the versamax and 1301 haven't aged enough to reveal reliability issues? I know it's not the same, but I have had a sig sauer p226 that has needed no replacement parts or malfunctions despite going through thousands of rounds and cleanings every 2-3 months. Is it unreasonable to expect a shotgun to maintain structural integrity due to the nature of the ammo?

  6. Forgive me if this is a bad question, but if you have your shotgun and want to mail it somewhere else to get the lifter fixed, do you just need to send the lifter/trigger group? Like I'm debating on getting an M2 and it makes sense to just send the money to a place like C rums and have them do all the work and then send it to the FFL vs getting the gun and sending it to C rums etc...

  7. I really would like to purchase a benelli m2 field and add a mag tube, but this rule seems a bit nonsensical. With that being said, I don't want to drop another $500 on new items that I don't really need. I mean, why buy a great gun if you have to replace everything inside of it?

So to make things easy and cheap, what do I need replaced if I want to add a +5 tube on the shotgun and still be compliant?

Also, what are the chances that anyone will actually take away way my firearm for not being compliant other than me waving it in front of ATF HQs?
