  1. Hello: Use the No Gap insert and grind the base pad to fit. Do one mag at a time so that the mag release will hold the mag in place with a little slop(technical term) :roflol: The No Gap insert works better for me. Another option would be the Tripp 10 round mags but since you have the CMC mags I would use those. The Tripp mags will have to be fitted as well. Hope this helps, so start the grinder up. Thanks, Eric

I ordered the no gap and also have CMC 10's. I thought I would only have to remove some plastic from the front side of the basepad. I didn't realize that much material had to come off.

  2. Hello: I originally posted that 2 years ago and 3 magwells ago :roflol: I have a Dawson No Gap magwell on there now and love it. I am using Wilson 47D's with Dawson base pads. The pistol also has over 5600 rounds through it now. Still running great  Thanks, Eric

I was leaning towards the Dawson Ice and needed feedback like yours to commit. I know your thread was a while back so thanks for the update. edit to ask, did the install go smoothly?

  3. Hello: Everytime I clean my STI Spartan I am tempted to fix the gap between the magwell and frame. Has anyone done this yet? I was thinking of a couple of different ways to do this. Easiest would be to get some grips that are a little longer and fit them to the S&A magwell. The gap would still be there but you would not see it from the outside. Another way would be to weld the frame mainspring housing pin hole and then redrill it. The last way I thought of is to weld the magwell to fill the gap. Let me know what you have done to your Spartan or just left it alone? Thanks, Eric

I'm in the market for a magwell for my Spartan and want to know if maybe a two piece magwell like the dawson or fusion can be modified to close the gap caused by the Spartans short grip?

  4. I wouldn't fret over it. These pistols are carefully hand fitted by a select group of filipino gun crafters and go thru numerous QC checks. They would never allow even one of the Spartans to reach STI with even the slightest fitting flaw or imperfection. No matter that one could lose his-her employment but a matter of personal pride. I just hope they find a solution towards easier take down.
