That use to be the case however tormach recently changed there control software from Mach mill to path pilot. Requiring new post processors that are compatible with path pilot. Path pilot is very similar to Linux / emc. So they should get you started.

You can't use a tormach specific post processor as they where made for Mach you are now using path pilot. I believe.

It is still slow computing large files with bobcad. I think it is a fault with bobcad as other cam programs I have demoed worked much smoother.

Fusion should also do it. I would guess you would need to draw a solid cube then tip it on a 45° or whatever angle you would like to use. Use a cylinder subtract feature and manipulate the cylinders in depth and position.

When I plotted the points I just drew a square. Then plotted the points. Setting the 45°. In the machine setup zero.

This is BobCAD. I did it in 2d. But it is prolly easier in 3d. I set the stock so it is at a 45° angle to the machine. Then I pick the 2 point farthest to the let in the x axis. Set them to drill .050 moved over .125 to the center point set it to drill .100 then moved over to the next set of point drilling the at .2 and increasing .100 every time I step in the x direction witch is the direction the 45 is in. Sorry if I'm not very good at explaining this.

I've never used fusion so I'm no help there. Does it do 2d or does it have to be all solid models?

Make all your points for one side by manipulating the offset. Do you have a 4th axis?

You could put it in a vice at the desired angle. Setup drill points with your cam using an endmill.

Just goto www.solidworks.com click on how to buy at the top of the screen. Then in the right column under academia click on military veterans program. It is the student addition that is completely unlocked. You need to email in some forms and once approved you will be givin a link to pay for the shipping which is the 20 dollars. The only catch is you have to do it every year. Still it's a great deal to stay up to date.

OG what did you decide on a cad/cam?

I have a buddy that uses it on a sherline lathe running emc2. He had to have them make a post processor and it works.

I use bobcad and have recently upgraded to v26. It works great for the price and they have pretty good tech support. It was a learning curve for me as I have never used a cad or a cam program. Posts are pretty easy to customize.

I just updated to the newest version of tapatalk. It still doesn't work for me it will let me login but no matter what I goto it tells me no topics. Any ideas?

Is carbide required to cut the hardened parts or will hss work with the proper feeds and speeds?
