  3. Don’t spend a nickel on other equipment before you shoot awhile with what you have. Be safe, have fun, ask questions, borrow and try different stuff until you know what direction you want to go. You’ll get a lot advise. Make your decisions wisely and informed, 3-gun can get expensive rather fast (“open” times 2) and more so with the wrong choices.

Take your time and enjoy yourself. Good luck!

+1 on this. Shoot your great gear and tweak as you commit to a class.

  4. The practical has a removable muzzle break. When removed you essentially have the m1 18.5 already threaded for chokes. I run the m1 and find it to be the perfect gun. Lots of guys do. I come from the rifle pistol world and have zero issue without the vent rib. I will say that running a gloved left hand is necessary for load to prevent burning your hand. I find the rifle sights perfect for slugs. IMHO run the m1. you may not need to put a bunch of cash into an m2 plus gun smithing or shoot me a message I will gladly take the m1 off you to help fund your m2. Hope this helps.

  5. I practice and run caddies, dualoads and qualoads. I am a big fan of options and you never know what the MD is going to throw at you in a match. I am fastest with the qualoads but don't always want 4 at a time. Dualoads are my go to but suck if you go prone are have to crawl through a tunnel or over a barricade. Caddies may not be as fast but they allow for 1-4 shells at a time and are super retentive. Just my 2 bits...

  6. Here is my build...

Haha, this is a funny story. I'm browsing reddit.com/r/guns and i come across your youtube video. I thought it was awesome. I start googling plans for 3 gun carts. Then I find this thread that is full of awesome examples. Then it ends on yours. Full circle, my friend, full circle.

3 Gun is a pretty small world... Glad you liked the video.

  7. Great topic - seriously, just go out and shoot a match. There are a tone of guys that have been shooting for a long time that would be jealous of your current setup. There is nothing that can replace the advice you will get from the guys you shoot with and putting it to action. Welcome to the sickness my friend! Even if everything you have runs perfectly I bet dollars to donuts you find great reasons to buy alternatives this coming season, then next year, then the year after.... you get the idea (its a sickness).

  8. do you have coyotes there? We have coyotes here, and predator calls, and snow.....and offhand rifle shooting at moving targets. They usually aren't moving/running when you see them, but when you hit the PACT timer and it goes off while you are at low ready, those yotes dig in and take off after you've popped a few of their friends!

That sounds like way too much fun!

  9. Maybe it's just me, but I'd recommend that each shooter has his/her own magazines. I say this because it might not make your squad mates too happy if things get slowed down waiting for shooter #2 to load up after shooter #1 has emptied the shared mags. That, and if I'm the second shooter, I wouldn't want to feel all rushed for time loading the mags right before my run-- that's the time to get calm.

    Good point

  10. Up here in the great white north (mn) the 3 gun season has come to an end. One of my goals for the upcoming season is to keep my skills up over the winter. I already have a pretty solid dryfire routine for the pistol and reloading practice for the shotgun. What would you recommend adding to the routine to stay sharp with the long guns, pistols or anything else related to the game?

    Thanks,

    Mark

  11. You can check out a bunch of videos if you search Hawkeye Ordnance on you tube. We have had good luck running the head strap. The sound isn't so hot so I recommend running even a smartphone cam at the same time for sound or event better a different angle. Good luck shooting and filming its fun as hell.
