  1. David said since it was not going to be used in competition he felt that the trigger was really good with just the springs and thought that I would be very satisfied with it. And he was right. With the new springs the DA is still heavier than I would prefer but noticeably lighter than stock. SA is really pretty nice. I do not know the actual weights but it's a good set up for what I'm going to use the gun for. He did tell me that the trigger work would make a substantial improvement but was probably not worth the cost for me and my planned usage. If I had plans for competing with it I would have gotten the work done, but I have 2 Accu Shadows for that :) Several hundred rounds through it with CCI and Winchester primers with no issues.

  2. Rhart123, yes I finally got it back. Some of the wait turned out to be my fault. Anyway, David said they got new sets of springs in and installed those. He said it ran like a top after that, zero issues. I have not had a chance to shoot it since I got it back but I trust the issue is fixed. I'm pretty sure he would probably just send you another spring set if you are still having issues. David is a stand up guy that backs his work 100%. He installed the new spring set, talked me OUT of doing a full trigger job and didn't even charge me for shipping the gun. I will definitely do business with him again in the future.

  3. Yes the Sphinx compact mags work in the P01, they just have a gap at the bottom. I can't verify if the CZ mags work in the Sphinx because CGW has my SDP right now. I have a picture just don't know how to attach/post it.

  4. I had 2 light primer strikes (out of 200 rounds) after the firing pin and FPB spring was installed. Both were in single action. I had no FTF with just the hammer spring installed (200 or so rounds). And both light primer strikes which occurred in SA fired when attempted in DA.

  5. Yes it comes out in a certain direction. From ejection port side towards the slide lock side. If you are holding the gun in a shooting grip, from right to left. The left side of the pin is larger. I only know this because I smashed the damn thing flat trying to put it back in in the wrong way.

On that note, does anyone know where I can get a new firing pin retaining pin for my Sphinx. My smashed one works, just looks bad :)

  6. Thanks for the input. I broke down and bought a Sphinx Compact SDP instead of the Subcompact. I just couldn't find any reviews on the subcompact. The Compact is nice. Really nice. I immediately swapped out the springs with the ones CGW offers. It made a huge difference in the DA pull, and a slight difference in the SA. The DA was extremely heavy out of the box and the SA really nice with a short reset. The spring change fixed the DA. I still think I prefer my CZ Custom SDP. The Sphinx seems to handle the recoil better and is every bit as accurate but it is slightly larger. I think I shoot the CZC SDP better only because I prefer the Heinie sights to the three dot (my Sphinx has the HALO night sights). The CZC SDP does have a better trigger, but that's not to diminish the Sphinx's trigger. The CZC SDP, after having the SRTS installed, cost me around $1350 compared to the $950 (spring swap included) for the Sphinx. Both money well spent in my opinion. If I could have only one, I would probably pick the Sphinx and use the extra money on a holster, extra mags and ammo.

  7. Thinking about buying one as a CCW but I'm having a hard time finding any reviews on it. Sphinx Compact reviews are everywhere but little to no info on the sub compact version. Has anybody shot one? Opinions?
