  1. switched to Safariland belt.. I will just leave this here in case anyone else ever asked the question.. its WAY faster for shotgun.. you were all right..

If I am shooting rifle.. pistol.. chest rig is good.. but for this type of sport.. belt is where its at..

  2. after messing with this for some days.. I hate to admit it.. but a belt might be a better choice..
its so counter intuitive to me.. because I am so used to shooting from a chest rig with mags centered..

the problem.. the shotshells.. reloading pistol and rifle from chest is VERY fast for me.. but when it comes to shotshells.. no way.. when I rotate the gun exactly what everyone said would happen happens.. my arms are very compressed.. and the shells almost get in the way of the gun.. so I am considering going to the safari land ELS belt..

If you hit the shells right where they meet, it is feasible to push them in and get them to pop out.

It doesn't often happen in real match conditions however.

Picture of what you are seeing however would be good, as I'm guessing at what you saw.

it would just be a picture of a shotgun shell on my floor.. LOL

yeah i have some that fall out from time to time with not a lot of pressing on them.  guess if the plastic holders are set too tight, that would result in fumbled loadings.  i take shells out between stages and definitely at the end of matches so the plastic doesn't widen over time.

one of the reasons i hate the high round count shotgun stages.  just not very practical to carry all those shells around, and especially if a md wants to throw in a slung rifle start...  especially when we have rifles and handguns on us with mags that hold 20-30 rounds with pretty much zero chance of popping out.

I think your point is pretty valid..

I think it is almost by design that the balance between falling out on the ground.. and staying put while moving is a very narrow balance..

  5. So I dealt with Invictus.. and they are super nice.. and picked up 3 holders.. the holders absolutely appear to be well made..

now onto my issue.. retention is weird.. sometimes it holds the shell really well.. other times just brushing against it causes the shotshell to drop out..

so whats the deal.. am I doing something wrong?

  6. So just curious.. I have yet to shoot a match so I have no real experience to go off..

But I have shot from a Tactical Tailor chest rig for a long time.... and am used to this setup... holds the weigh up nice.. keeps everything in place.. why does NO ONE shoot competition with a chest rig like this? every image.. video.. etc.. that I see people are running all their gear on a belt..

what am I missing? there must be some reason for this I am just not aware of due to my lack of experience?

(keep in mind I am talking a purpose setup rig with just a couple of pistol and rifle mags.. and maybe like 16 shotgun shells on something like an Invictus..)

    thanks

i had the triji 1-4 (x24 i think) accupoint (before the accupower) and really liked it (nice glass, green 'dot' was always on and bright), but ended up wanting more magnification so got the vortex razor hd 1-6, which is pretty popular in 3 gun.

i've bought from eurooptic, swfa, scopelist, sportoptics, opticsplanet without any issues.  think one or two of them are related.  also, sometimes they can do better than their listed website price (MAP pricing), so give them a call or shoot them an email.

I just realized Eurooptics is like a half an hour from me.. so I think I am just going to stop by when I get a chance.. LOL

funny I never heard of them..

Give a good long look at the new Nightforce NX8 1-8x. It is quite impressive for its compact size.

checked it out.. looked promising.. saw the price tag.. can't do it... really looking sub $700 but appreciate the recommendation..

on another note does anyone know if Euro Optics is legit?

  9. apparently long time lurker.. lol

OK So when I first built my 14in gun it was before I had my SBR.. now that I have my SBR I shoot the 14in gun more and more with a magnifier... because I typically end up shooting anywhere from 0 - 200 yards.. the magnifier is OK.. and the Eotech is fine.. no complaints.. but what I am noticing is with all these 1 - X type optics I can probably do the same thing in a more streamlined package.. a package that is designed to do that..

I went to a local shop today and tried a bunch of variable power optics.. you DO give up a little at really short range.. they are simply not as fast for me to get on target.. with that said they definitely handle distance better.. and the close use may just be a learning curve..

the Trijicon AccuPower 1-4x24 was by far the clearest to me..

talk me out of this.. tell me what else I should be looking at..

    thanks
