  1. So you don't really need the .zip's at all now. I'd whack them, just to eliminate confusion. I'd also, just for appearance sake, move the .exe's to somewhere under ipsc.org so that they appear under the website url, such as ipsc.org/downloads/FullSetup.exe or something similar.

Having tried various "free" Internet services, only to be later frustrated for some reason or another, I have purchased an annual Internet service to host this software. It is in the works now and should be completed within a week.

Both software download sources will remain on other Internet servers, but will be directly downloadable from the IPSC.org web site:

It is with regret that I cannot monitor all IPSC activity and/or postings here that relate to WinMSS, etc., but will always give any email received via my winmss@ipsc.org email account the due attention that it deserves...

  2. Maybe someone who cares also watches this part of BE, because I find no links on ipsc.org for the webmaster or anyone in a similar position to directly email on the following issue:

On the WinMSS page, you have two ways of downloading the program. One is a link to a .exe file which downloads fine and (I'm guessing) resides on the same server as the website itself.

The other is as a .zip file, which is hosted on someone's angelfire.com space. Angelfire has implemented a policy of disallowing direct links to any of its customer's web component's from a direct external link, therefore the two .zip links are useless.

    1) On the WinMSS page (for as long as I care to remember), the following text appears:

NOTE: WinMSS should function on Windows ME; Windows 2000; Windows XP; and, Windows 2003 without installing any additional software. Please feel free to contact us at: winmss@ipsc.org with your concerns, comments, and/or issues at any time.

    2) Angelfire previously did not allow direct links to executable (.EXE) files, but would allow direct links to non-executable (e.g.: .ZIP) files.

What's the difference between the .exe's and the .zip's? I generally find load modules don't compress very well.

    See point # 2, above.
