  1. Just picked up a XD9 4" for production....

Mostly for my son to get started...

I would like to put in a lighter recoil spring...

seems a little difficult for him to rack the slide

    Is that possible?

    if so

    what would you recommend?

any other mods you might suggest?

    I'm a 1911 guy..

so this is new to me

    thanks

  2. I made my reservations at the Holiday Inn a few days ago, assuming that was going to be the "Match Hotel", as it has been'

BDavis....if you could let us know ASAP, when things are squared away, It sure would be appreciated by me and many others. Thanks

I am not sure if everyone knows how much time and effort Bill, Richard and many others put into the SSC. It is an awesome match, and everyone should be grateful we have guys and gals like this to put it together. It pisses me off when I here people pissing and moaning about piddly ass crap! Kudos to Bill and everyone else that makes this match a great success.

Sorry, I felt the need to rant.

  3. I have been shooting USPSA for 2years and L-10 the whole time.

    I am now B class.

I thought today that I would try Limited with my single stack 1911, to see how competitive I could be. Although I didn't feel like I shot my best, the results were gratifying.

Just wondering if anyone out there shoots Limited with a single stack.

    If so,

    why?

and how well do you do?

  4. I shoot L10 and like it

Here's the problem, or maybe it's just my problem.

Local monthly matches bring out about 2-4 competitors.

I like to have a little competition (no offense to those few I compete against)

Competition drives me to get better

I've been recently thinking about switching to Limited with my "skinny" gun

tlshores was right, it would be pretty cool to beat those guys with the "fat" guns

    my .02

  5. Started my new teaching job this week.

Had a few minutes to kill, so I thought that I would look up USPSA (on the school computer) and this is what I found:

Can anyone help me understand what on the USPSA website in inappropriate for an educational environment???

  6. If you don;t mind telling, how much was it and are there any problems with over insertion of 8 round mags?

Oh yeah... I forgot to tell you.

Went to my first match with the new magwell, (I shoot L10)

Checked my chip 10 rounders the night before...everything hunky dory.

next morning first stage (I use an 8 rounder for my Barney mag), put my Barney mag in, rack a round, load up my 10 rounder...Standy By!....Beeep!.....Click.

Thats right. The 8 rounders did not seat all the way into the magwell.

I needed to file off the front of the pads to fit all the way into the magwell.

    Lesson learned.

Cost...Aluminum magwell, steel MSH about $140 shipped.

  7. don't like the looks of the pinnacle.

    magwell_sm.jpg

    SVI looks pretty good

    magwell1_350_350.jpg

seems to be a better transition on the front.

It seems like I alway catch the nose of the bullet on the edge of the front strap.

still havn't been able to figue out if EGW has one or not. can't tell from the website

  8. Does anybody make a magwell for the single stack that goes all the way around the mag well opening? Like the ICE for the STI's.

Haven't been able to find one.

If nobody makes one, why not?

    Maybe I'll make my own.

    Thanks for any input.

  9. Here's my homemade plate rack. only five plates though.

They are swingers or I can turn the rack over and make it "fall over plates"

Forgot the timer when I went to test it.

I'll let you know my times.

that's the Air Soft "auto reset" plate rack on top.
