  1. Anderson PCC. Low cost and I haven't had any issues at all.

I have one as well and it has never jammed on me in about 1k rounds, no cleaning. I’ve had mag issues with my MBX mega glock extension, but once I sorted that, no issues.

  2. One concern for lefties (I know from personal experience) is in the event of a case rupture (the case is not fully supported in these rifles and with a right sided port, all that blow back goes right in your face.  So I am happy to continue using a Gibbz left sided ejection port upper (with right side charging handle).

The Gibbz lower has an ambi mag release and can be used with a righty or lefty upper.  I have had issues with extraction/ejection with the Gibbz ambi bolt, but some mods we made (see the thread linked below) have resulted in a very reliable, accurate and safe machine!

Thanks for all the info guys! Kinda leaning toward the KE or the Gibbz. JPs reputation is superlative, but as mentioned above not having an ambi mag release kinda kills it for me. The KE with a JP upper seems like a good compromise?

  3. So! I’m done convincing myself that I don’t want a PCC. Now begins the journey of which one I want. I’ve lusted after the scorpion evo because HK slap and ambi-ness of it. Now that I’ve looked, there are a few AR style lowers that are fully ambi as well. I have a Glock 17, but magazine sharing isn’t a huge seller for me, and it seems that Colt style mags have more ambi control lowers available. Not super hot on the MPX either since it seems to had issues, but I’m sure the now ones are better. I plan on eventually running a can and SBRing as well. I’m a C class shooter and I prefer reliability over having to tweak with things constantly. Which platform would you recommend and why?

  4. So I did my first dot torture drill before the match yesterday, and felt I did okay. Definitely need practice on the strong/weak hand. Dropped one shot on the strong hand, and two on the weak. And it turns out my rear sight was loose, which explained my strung slow fire group. Shot at three yards. 65d899681413d806ce7259e166861852.jpg

  5. Do you have any pictures of the ones you've done? I am only gonna shoot it in one or two matches a year with maybe a couple practices. I didn't pay a whole lot for this one, and I have the sneaking suspicion it is the start of my journey into 1911s.

  6. So I have a 60's vintage sistema colt that I love to shoot. I would like to shoot it in single stack, and so far I have put an ambi safety, and new grips that fit the safety ( I am a lefty). I LOVE the old war horse look of it. I think it is the original finish that has a nice patina going.

My dilemma is that I want to put something other than the standard GI no-see-ums, and that doesn't totally ruin the look, but also gives a nice sight picture. I used vinegar to remove the bluing off my safety and put a bit of patina on it and it matches better than the standard bluing that was on the safety. I know the tenon style tend to come loose when you move to a bigger sight, so a dovetail job is in my future. Any recommendations?

  7. I ran my 92 at a three gun with wolf ammo once. It was awesome. Not one malfunction. I got a 900 rnd can for like $90, I don't remember having any malfunctions in that can. Shot pretty well too, not the greatest accuracy, but it went bang every time.

  8. The xd's don't fit my hand. And neither do the Brownings. I have a beretta whitewing that fits me well, although I don't shoot trap. I am torn between getting a 308 or 260 ar 10, but I really want the new dpms gII hunter. That thing looks slick! But it's about 1500.

I went with the glock 41, just because I couldn't wait. I'll use the rest on bullets so I can actually shoot it :)

  9. So I am trying to decide what I want to do with about $1000. I need direction. I already have a reloading setup, ar15, m&p45, g20, 92fs, glock 36, sistema 1911, browning challenger II, fn slp, and the hunting rifles and shotguns I need. I enjoy 3 gunning, and that's what I use the slp, ar15 and beretta for.

My quandary is that I have an incomplete lower that I got on Black Friday special, and it's just BEGGING to be setup m16a3 style. But I got to hold a glock 41 today ( the long slide 45) and my hand loves it. I already have 3 45's, but I also have the hots for the H&K usp45. And the sig sauer spartan 1911. And the glock 17 or 34. Sooooo.... Help me pick.

And yes one day I will own them all, the question is which one should I own today?

  10. So I picked up some mags for my 1911, 8 round Mec-Gars, and when I (energetically) insert them the top round will flip out of the magazine. Sometimes all the way, others enough to be caught up in the gun. For normal range plinking, this is fine, but during a competition not so much. To me, this looks like a spring issue, and I have noticed that loading those mags is a bit easier than loading my Kimber mags. Just wanting some input before I go and get replacement springs for my mags. Thanks!

  11. So the last stage of the day, I finally felt I had some good experience under my belt. I planned how I was going to shoot the stage (which in this case involved all three guns, and slugs for shotgun). I felt good with my plan. Buzzer sounded. Plan went well. Missed more than I was hoping on the long rifle steel, but that is what an "OH @#!$%!) mag is for (same day, different lesson ) Unloaded and cleared. I felt good about my run. Then I realized that the initial plan did not include SIX paper rifle targets.

Lesson learned: Include ALL targets in the plan.

ETA: I just saw the match screw up forum, please move this there... Probably continuation of what I did earlier today in not seeing things as I should...

  12. Right on. I have one for my Glock 36, but I did not know how they would hold up for comp use. Also the "issue" (don't really know if it is or not) of rocks getting stuck under the lock and having to "cut off the holster from the gun". Seems a little extreme. But hey, that's the internet for you! Thanks guys!
