  1. Here is a good one...

"A good fight should be like a small play...but played seriously. When the opponent expands, l contract. When he contracts, l expand. And when there is an opportunity... l do not hit...it hits all by itself (shows his fist).

Any technique, however worthy and desirable, becomes a disease when the mind is obsessed with it."

  2. I guess they never posted interim scores. So much for reviewing your scores to ensure that they were correct. Anyone know when and where they are going to post the final scores?

  3. I just finished turning down a nutdriver for a friend's G34. I would assume the hole are the same size. If you want, go buy a $5.00 nutdriver at home depot and mail it to me. I would be happy to pop it in the lathe for you.

  4. FWIW, I have A-grip on my G17. I love it. It is soft, and the grip is fantastic. When I clean my glock, I just scrub the whole frame with dawn and hot water. Scrub the A-grip with a toothbrush and let it air dry.

The skateboard tape style grips hold NO appeal for me. I feel like it is the no slip stair tread grip tape you buy at home depot.

  5. as irony would have, I just bought one of these last week without seeing this thread. What is the prefered pocket holster for these little guys? Any particular maker noticeably better than another?

I keep my 442 in a Kramer pocket holster. I don't know how I lived without it.

  6. We shot Sat afternoon. I agree with you 100% about no practice. The last match I shot before this was the S&W Winter Championships.

I thoroughly enjoyed the CT match. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The stages were well put together, and the ROs were fantastic.

    Bravo Zulu !!

  7. Ted's right, some 158 gr lead +Ps will make it - not the hot ticket indoors though. If you want to shoot SSR w/38s - you need to reload.

My point is you shouldn't have to reload. Either lower the PF so factory ammo will suffice, or get rid of 38.

Is the .38 special an acceptable defensive round or not?

This is supposed to be a practical shooting sport, right?

( I am sure I sound like a bitchy little girl... whatever)

    Neil

  8. Am I alone in thinking that "readily available" 38 ammo should meet the PF requirement? Why Does the PF require 38+p? You can down load a 45 ACP to "bunny farts" but a standard load 38 is unacceptable?  Having to reload is the major thing keeping me from shooting my L-frame.

You're not wrong here. When IDPA was working on the rulebook I chronoed a boatload of factory .38's and found that nearly all the jacketed .38 special ammunition did not make the power factor. I submitted my findings with a request they consider lowering the pf for .38 special to 115 so Federal American Eagle (the hottest of the white box jacketed .38 special loads) would be legal. They said they'd consider it and that's about all they did with the info.

A friend thought I should present it as a Tac Journal article but I'm not so sure it's worth the time to do it.

    Ted

Thats what I mean. I understand the 45's have to make 125 as well (or more in ESP) I shouldnt have to spend$$$$ to shoot a 38. I can get 9mm at wallyworld for $11 a hundred, and $15 a hundred(or so) for 38, but the 38 won't make power. especially now that they have split SSR and ESR, they should have reconsidered lowering the PF for SSR so at least some factory ammo would be acceptable.

I know... "Welcome to MY game, if you don't like the rules go make you own game"

    {stepping down from soapbox}

  9. What's the purpose in shooting .38 +p in SSR? The power factor in

    SSR is still 125.

wheelgunr - Shooting ammo over a chronograph from a four inch revolver rather than an eight-to-ten inch pressure gun reveals that standard pressure ammo doesn't make the PF. Even with lead bullets, you have to load to +P levels. The only factory ammo that makes the PF is the lead bullet +P stuff.

Actually, you can make the PF within standard pressures with slower powders like HS6 and Longshot, but you need a shovel to clean out the cylinder. :o

I realize I am new to this, but I thought I would drop my .02 about this.

  10. I thought you all might find this reply to my email humorous.

(apparently they claim they havent received them yet) <_<

We don't know when they will be sending the results to us.

    Thanks,

Any idea when we could expect the Smith Winter National results to be

    posted?

  11. Dennis,

If it's any consolation - I think my wife beat you - you too Gary.

I'll bring results with me Tuesday if I have them by then.

    Craig

    LMAO,

I know she beat me! Your wife is a great shot Craig.

I am needing to know how badly I sucked though!!
