  1. I have about $1000 budget myself for a 3 gun shotgun... I figure buying used is the way to go. I'm hoping to find an M2 with the basic mods needed. I've seen them before I was seriously looking.. so I know they are out there, just gotta hope to find the right one.

I've considered an Super X2 Practical MKII as well. They can be found with the needed mods for under $1000.

  2. My 11 yr old daughter won just about every award available at the year end school awards this year. Straight A's, Honor Roll, Congressional and Presidential achievement awards, tops in both math and reading, and a bunch more.

My 7yr old son was the ONLY 1st grader to achieve (and surpass) all the reading goals setup at the beginning of the year. He also scored in the top 5% in math nationwide. He's doing multiplication and some division while some kids are still learning to cut with scissors.

So proud of those kids..... :)

  3. Send it to Rafael Esqueda at Get a Gun (Bakersfield, CA).

He specialized in STI single shot conversions. He is also an active competitor.

I got a used Brazos gun here on the forum and he handled everything without issue.

That issue above with the police is totally different. Single Shot Exemption method is totally legit.

Here's your answer. Rafael knows what he's doing and it's WELL within the law.

+1 for me too. Just recently picked up my "off list" SP-01 Shadow from Rafael. Painless and easy. As of right now, the cost was $125 including transfer and DOJ.

  4. Even better is the people who think that the stuff they bolted to whatever they are selling raises the value by how much they paid for the extra crap.

That one got me the other day too. Dude had a $20 throw lever on the optic and wanted an extra $20 for it. :) ANOTHER guy had an AR with a bunch of crap I didn't want, so I made an offer without the extra stuff. His comment was that I could sell the pieces off it for X amount.. which was what the new price was. I told him that HE could sell those pieces... I'm only interested in the gun.

These other guys must be some of the ones that sell high (or attempt to anyway) :roflol:

  5. Tell me about it.... Our only after hours Emergency Vet is 75 miles away. I've made that trip 3 times now. Ran my own dog over once, and twice for rattlesnake bites.

We have 6 vets in town, none will offer emergency service. 2 of them advertise they do, but when you call.... the answering service just gives you the info to the place 75 miles away. Heaven forbid one of the dogs need truly IMMEDIATE service.

  6. His kaboom blew the floorplate out of the mag and sprayed brass fragments in his face. For weeks afterwards, he'd occasionally get what looked like a zit and have speck of brass come out when he popped it.

    Dang... :surprise:

  7. The local USPSA club just announced a fun shoot "Marksman Match" on Fathers Day. 50 people max allowed to sign up. I HAD to sign up even though I've never touched a bow and have little shotgun experience. Just sounded to good to pass up....especially at the price. :) Can't wait....

"We've got sign ups for our Master Marksman match at the shop right now. 50$ per person, includes ammo, food, guns, everything. Topping it off at 50 shooters. Must sign up prior to the match.

The match is similar to Top Shot, we're having 8 stages in one day. Archery, Carbine, USPSA, 3-gun, primitive, precision rifle, shotgun, and rimfire challenge. Silver buckle for top prize and plaques for division and stage winners. We're providing all the weapons and ammunition to make it fair for everybody. Match is Fathers day."

  8. I'm totally new to it all as well, but I'm currently putting accuracy before speed. I figure as long as I can place my shots where I want them, the speed will come as I get more comfortable.

I have the same issue with moving targets as the OP, but I've never shot at them before this, so it's just going to take some time to put it all together with more range time.

  9. I shot my first match this weekend and shot SS. Talk about stage planning! That said.... that was one of the more fun things for me. Figuring out how to most effectively shoot 8 at a time.

From here on out I am changing guns and will be shooting an SP-01. I'll most likely shoot Production unless I just feel like changing it up. I'm in no hurry to "be fast" right now, so learning all the basics including mag changes sounds good to me.
