  1. I also have the Dawson magwell and love it. It only takes a couple minutes to take it off if I wanted to shoot production. You don't have to wait for it to be in stock. If you order it they will make it. The only downside is the fact you can no longer seat a stock mag so make sure you order plenty of extended basepads.

  2. I popped my pin all the way out also. I tried the method of leaving the short end of spring sticking through the hole in the latch and tried to pry it through with the screwdriver but had no luck. I ended up holding the right side of the latch in place with my punch and then taking an extra long pair of needle nose and cramming the spring down in there until I could slide my punch through the spring. Then I installed the pin without an issue from the other side. While I had it apart I polished the latch and tried to tweak the spring a little. I installed the oversized extended release and it seems to work great now.

  3. I just ordered a tungsten guide rod and a B-1 oversized mag release from Rich at Canyon Creek last Friday at 11 a.m. Today is Monday and it already came in the mail. That is what I call speedy service! Thanks Rich:)

By the way Rich did a trigger job on my 4.5 xdm 9 multigun pistol just over a year ago and I'm very happy with it. I just slap my 5.25 .40 slide on that frame when I shoot USPSA 3-gun. Last year was my first year running an XDM in Limited division and it has been working out well. I took first place overall the 5 times I went to TCGC for 3-gun last year and at the 2 multigun matches at OPSC last year I was 5th of 48 in June and 2nd of 64 in September.

  4. Not to switch the topic but I have 2 XDM with stock mag releases and neither will let me drop a full mag without pushing up on the mag. If there are 14 rounds or less in the mag it drops free no problem. Anyone else notice this? Do the extended releases or polishing fix the issue?

  5. I recently had Rich at Canyon Creek do a 2# trigger on my XDM and I love it. Honestly I was not to happy with the gun or the trigger until I got it back from Rich. I can't believe the difference the trigger job has made. It use to shoot low left for me and that now totally went away. I have let a few people shoot it and a few others dry fire it and they were also amazed.

  6. I use the Arredondo Glock basepads for my Glock 35 in limited. I have 3 of 7 mags that hold 20 rounds and are still reloadable and reliable, the other 4 only hold 19. The followers on the 3 that hold 20 rounds are marked 5. Look at the number on the top front of the followers as there are quite a few different styles with different numbers on them. I know I could probably trim the bottom of the other followers to look like the fork style bottom on the followers with the 5 on them but haven't tried it. There are also aftermarket followers out there. Right now I have been looking at the gunshows for more mags with the #5 followers, it gives me something to do as I go through the show looking at mostly the same stuff on the peoples tables month after month.

I loaned my XDM 9 to my uncle last month to shoot an Outlaw 3-gun match and I think he needs it for a while. So I'm thinking about buying a 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 35 as I already have a bunch of 9mm mags. Does anyone recommend what brand of conversion barrel is best?

  7. I had a ruger for years and thought I was happy with it. A buddy of mine told me to keep my eyes open for a good deal on a 22 pistol because he wanted one. Shortly after, a guy at work asked if I knew anyone that wanted to buy his buckmark. I said, "my buddy is looking for a 22 pistol how much are looking to get out of it"? He said, "well, I have the gun, a holster, a case and a few boxes of stingers, I will take 100 bucks for it". I said "screw my buddy, I will buy it tomorrow". My buddy was not to happy but I fell in love with the buckmark and have never looked back at the ruger. The ruger is now gone and I don't miss it one bit. That was about ten years ago and every time I take the buckmark shooting the guy who sold it to me just bows his head and says how much he misses it and wishes he would have never sold it. If anyone else wants to sell a buckmark for $100 just let me know:) Just kidding, that is one of those deals that only happen once in a lifetime.
