  1. G'day.

I run a Kimber Stainless Target II in 38 Super for Classic Division (Single Stack) for IPSC here in OZ.

A little trigger work, S&A Magwell and a bit of skate tape and she is good to go.

  2. Does anyone know who makes +0 Glock magazine extensions for 10 round (Kalifornia) magazines? Gotta get these babies into the mag well.

I have seen guys using these in L10, but I don't know the manufacturer.

If anyone uses them and can comment on their quality, that would be great too.

G'day. I use Lightning strike +0 alloy bases on my 10 round G35 mags with a Dawson ICE magwell.

    Hooroo.

  3. Actually, I was referring to the aftermarket pieces that stick out like the safety on a 1911 and claim to tame recoil, but thank you.

    You do not need them.

    G'day All.

I have one of these thumbrests on my 2 G35 357Sig Std Div guns and it does help control the gun when firing Major power factor loads. The grip on the guns feels more secure. YMMV...

  4. I run an Open G24 with a 357sig barrel. It's pretty cool to me and a lot of fun to shoot. Mag capacity is the least of my worries ... I have other shooting technique issues that are more of a problem. I run .40 case through the press and out pops a sig. I get to use 9mm bullets, which are much cheaper than .40s.

    G'day. Sweet looking 24.

This is my G35 357Sig STD gun.

  5. G'day.

Go with the G17. I did

    G17 with a Storm Lake G34 barrel. Threaded 9/16x32.

My own 4 port Ali comp.

Siedler mount with a 8MOA C-more, and a Carver thumb rest fitted.

    GlockJockey racker

Dale Rhea extended ejector from Bobby Carver.

12lb wolf spring on a Captured Glockmeister S/Steel rod.

    Glockthumb beavertail and rest.

Lowered ejection port by 1.5mm. This was to and try to get theCarver Competition Mount to work(no luck) and is not needed with the Siedler mount.

My Major load is: Win 9mm cases. WSP primers. 6.7WSF with a 125gr Conical Coated lead pill. 167P/F.

    Hooroo.

  6. G'day.

My G17 Open Gun Major 9 runs a 13lb flat wire Glockmeister recoil spring in a non captured lighteningstrike S/steel rod.

Stock striker spring with a Wolf heavy trigger spring and light striker safety spring.

4 port Ali comp on a EFK barrel.

Frame is a 2 pin FGR frame. C-more on a Siedler mount.

I had similar problems getting mine to run. Lowered the ejection port to 1mm above the serial number.

Running the LCI bearing with a Non-LCI extractor and an extended ejector by Dale Rhea via Bobby Carver.

Mine would light strike with the lighter wolf striker spring and the trigger wouldn't go all the way forward and the trigger safety would not work. I'm running a Ghost ultimate connector.

I had issues with leaving a case in the chamber when I was running lighter recoil springs, but now have no problems.

My major load is 6.8gr WSF with a 125gr coated lead loaded to 1.150 167 P/factor (chronoed).

The locking block angles on the 2 pin frame seems to be slightly different to the 3 pin frame. I have a G34 3 pin and if I swap topends with the G17, the barrel goes easliy into battery with the 11lb recoil spring.

I am waiting on a new 2 pin locking block at the moment.

Maybe try a new locking block?

As for mags. We are limited to 10 round mags here in Australia so I have no feed issues with mags.

    Hope this helps.

    Hooroo.

    regards, Trevor

    Australia.

P.S. I run a bore snake thru my barrel after each stage in a match just to be sure that there is no crud in the chamber.

  7. OK, thanks guys.

What I'm doing is building a IPSC Open gun in 357SIG. I don't want to run 9mm major and we don't have the option of 40S&W in Australia so 357SIG is my only major PF option in a Glock.

I've got a LWD slide and LWD extended/ported barrel winging its way over here at the moment. The whole gun will be a ground up build because we can actually buy brand new bare Glock frames here in Australia.

I'll post some build pics when all the parts gets here. Got some stuff already but not all.

Typically I shoot IPSC Production with a Glock 17A but almost everyone else in my club shoots Open and so every once in a while I'd like to try and run with the big dogs. Also I was told that Glock Open guns don't work so that was enough incentive in itself. <_<

This will be more of a knockabout gun rather than a serious attempt at Open division glory.

[edit]... Run a Major 9 in Open. Mine shot great at the QLD State Titles. Chrono 167P/F.

I'm doing a G35 in 357 SIG for STD Div.

Who did you get the LWD slide and Barrel thru?

    Hooroo.

  8. G'day.

G34 with a Storm Lake barrel.

4.5gr Win 231 with a 115 gr Round nose coated lead. WSP primer in Win brass.

135 P/Factor and groups into 1.5" at 25 yards rested.

  9. G'day.

I just had an EFK G34 barrel threaded, cut & crowned to 9/16x32tpi for the G17 with 4port comp.

    1/2 hr job. works fine.

  10. G'day.

I have been shooting coated lead pills through a G17 with a 4 port Aluminium comp.

Powder used is Ap-100 (Australian Powder) and Win 540 and win WSF.

Bullet weights have been 125 conicals and 145gr. Round nose made by TopScore Projectiles in Sydney (OZ).

I have been getting 167 to 175 PF with no problems of leading in the comp or barrel.

Other brands (Westcasting and Blackhawks) do show leading. I now stick with TopScore pills.

    Hooroo.

  11. I "shoot" an open glock on occasion and never thought about this until reading this post. There is a glock "strap-on" thumb rest out there, it wraps around high on the backstrap and is held in place by a longer ejector housing pin. It is like an ambi safety on a "real" gun. I may have to try 1 although it would defeat the purpose of shooting a glock in all divisions (same grip angle/feel).

I use one of these "glockthumb" Comp 2 thumb rest on my G17 Open gun.

Along with the thumb rest on the side of the carver competition mount.

This combo gives a great feel and limits gun movement during recoil.

Even major 9 loads feel soft.

  12. G'day All.

I was given a few LBS of WW473AA powder.

I was wondering if anyone had some loads for the 9x19 with this powder?

    I use lead bullets from 122gr up to 135gr in a G17 and a G17A.

    Thanks.

  13. G'day All.

I had a teflon coated 40 cal lead bullet stuck in a Glock G22.

I bent 3 cleaning rods trying to get it out. The answer was a battery Drill and a 1/4" drillbit. Drilled the centre out of the bullet and used a wooded dowel to knock it out easy.

  14. G'day Ghost1.

Mate, I bought a Kings threaded barrel from Cleavers in Brisbane to suit a G17. I fitted a Federal 2 port comp to it and added an Optima. The Kings barrel shoots extremely well. I use 5.2 gr AP-90 behind a Topscore 125gr black or gold conical lead pill. P/Factor runs at 137 Average for 10 rounds.

    I also use 4.4gr W231 with the same pill P/F is 141.

  15. G'day All.

I have outfitted my G17 for IPSC Open.

It has a EFK Fire dragon barrel that has been threaded and fitted with a Comp.

It has an Optima riding on the slide.

I would like to try some major power factor loads thru it to see how it shoots.

All the loads that are listed here and on other disscussion boards use powders that are not available in Australia or are too expensive.

So, Does anyone have a major factor load for 9x19 using winchester powder or ADI mulwex AP powder?

I know that some ADI powders are sold in the U.S. as Hodgden (Spelling?) powders.

Also, in Australia, Teflon coated lead bullets are the norm for reloading 115gr to 147 gr.

    Jacketed pills are very expensive.

There is a bloke called Top Score Projectiles in Sydney. He has just started to make copper plated pills for 9mm. They weigh in at 133gr and are round nose. I intend to try these pills for a major load.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hooroo.
