I never played with 571, but lived exclusively on 540 through 80s and early 90s.
I liked 540; it burned clean, didn't have the bark like 231, and was very consistant from lot to lot.
It worked well in my Springfield P9s:
9x21 135grFMJ ~8gr9x21 145grLRN ~6.8grIn 9x19 for both my Browning GP and Springfield P9:
124grFMJ ~5.7grWhen the powder started disappearing (around '98), I built a 38 super Tanfoglio and went to VV N350. I also ran N350 in 9x19.

A friend use to run it in his 40S&W, he bought up everything avaliable so he wouldn't have to work up a new load. He dropped out about 10 years ago, and I don't remember any specifics about his load.

Troy and Bobby wore their utility kilts at Area 4 a few years ago, to shoot the match. This was the match with the gate you had to climb over.
The word from their squad was, they answered the question of boxers or briefs.

Bob Londrigan and I talked about the H-1 earlier this year. I was showing off my modified gun and he suggested it as an option in place of the OKO.
It's smaller and I could build a really neat mount, but as IPSCBob said, the dot is way to small for me.

Retired for the last 9 years 10 months and 28 days. Last job was as a full time computer operator and part time Base Marksmanship Coordinator for the Air National Guard.
Hey, I get to retire in 9 years, 10 months and 28 days.
For the last 27 years, 5 months and 14 days I've worked for the world's largest manufacturer of surgical sutures. I am a tooling design engineer, technology owner for needle manufacturing tooling, technology co-owner for attachment tooling; and I'm currently holding the reins over our North American Tool & Die manufacturing operations as well as the machine shop. In my early days, I almost got fired for working in the shop one night (Big no-no, we're a union shop). We've built some really neat gun parts, on the side, in those years.

I don't know about current quality, but during the primer shortage in the 90s
I lost a slide due to erosion caused by Remington Primers leaking.I was shipped 5k of Remingtons as a substitute for Winchesters. Within a 1000 rounds, there was 360° of erosion on the brechface. This was with CP brass (Bell Labs) and a Springfield LSP P9 slide. This was with my practice loads that were between 28-30k cup pressure.

Mine finally arrived today. Relative to the bi-monthly posters, I just to be one of the first on the block to get it. Now it's about a month after the first sightings come in.
Of course, this one looks like it's well thumbed, so maybe my postman has been reading it for the last month.

I have the purple shirts, but then Dave changed to requirements so now I have to be in red, white and black.

This was the first purple gun.
At the time the picture was taken it was on it's second barrel and scope. The switch went out on the blue faded to purple scope, so it got my 2001 Limited Nats prize table reward.
While it was still shiny and new, I had the concessions vendor, at a match, try and tell me that that he couldn't sell me tea because I had a girly gun. I told him that I was man enough to shoot this girly gun, to which he replied; "two teas coming right up."
The truth is I just like purple, and the anodizing is what they claim to be purple.

(Maybe the next time I build accessories I'll use Titanium and anodize it to a truer purple. I think it will take about 100volts to get there.)

Anyway, I'm all for Modified in the US-- the guns may be loud and not that much fun to shoot, but they're darn cool and most of where the innovation is these days if you aren't a major manufacturer.
Mine is a blast to shoot.

Funny, I placed an order with MG on Friday mid-day and the bullets got here today....very cool.

I ran Tafoglios, in Open, for 13 years before switching to STIs (much to Skinners enjoyment).
I was welding Ed Brown beavertails on them before the factory added it as an integral option. You can do anything to them, if just takes a little extra work and now that Henning is supplying accessories it just got a little easier. (I've got to remember to send him some of my drawings.)

They are looking at a possible change.
The requirement will still be .40 caliber for major with a special case that the .357 Sig can also be scored major.
(I think that the current restrictions in Australia are playing a part in this review, and also because that are factory loads in .357 Sig that make the stated powerfactor. There is another review to look into lowering the power factor for Standard and Modified and this would definitely capture the .357 Sig as a contender. This takes into account the countries where they are not able to reload.)

Without a photo it is hard to say whether you are seeing a bright spot or true gas erosion.
Any burr on the brass will flatten out on the first firing. Brass is a lot softer than the breechface of your slide.
If you are seeing actual pitting on the breechface, then I would say that you are experiencing gas erosion. (I lost a Tanfoglio slide in the 90's due to Remington primers in my 9x21.)
If this is the case, I would try switching out the brass. Even standard 9 may leak if the primer pockets are oversized. My 9x21 load was only 32,000 cup and I lost the slide in less than 1,000 rounds, and the Tanfoglio slides are a lot harder than STI slides.Kenny

Lock time is where its at, although you can only go so light. Hammers used to break a lot until we figured this out.
I would like to see if that warp speed hammer could last 100K Super rds and set off every primer. Don't know just wondering. I don't think a homemade "sliver" would work.

I've been running the Extreme Warp Speed hammers since moving to the STI platform in 2002. I have them in four pistols, 2 Open, 1 Modified, and 1 Standard; the oldest has at least 100K and it still breaks crisp and clean at 550g.
It not just about being light weight, you need to also consider the moment of inertia. I went with the Warp Speed because it was to the closest in speed and inertia to my own design Tanfoglio hammer. (I built that hammer long before there was a Warp.) There are other "low mass" hammers out there, but for me they are too slow.

I'm starting to make the final arrangements in attending the 3rd IPSC qualifier at USSA.
Discovered that my entry was still laying on the desk, but it went out in today's mail.Last night I checked on airfare, since my wife didn't like the idea of my driving alone. (In Texas terms, this is just a short day trip of 485 miles to Tulsa) The ticket price was less than $65 each way, fuel cost for the truck was going to be in the neighborhood of $75 each way.
Now instead of spending over 16 hours driving for weekend, I will arrive fresh and relaxed.
Next I went to the rental car company and found out I can get a full size for the same price as compact economy. (We'll have to wait and see if I really get the Dodge Charger that is reserved.)
