  1. Why isn't all of this information on the USPSA Nationals website? Or better yet, e-mailed to all of the registered competitors? They have everyone's e-mail address since they are using the USPSA online self squading as that is a requirement of using that match management function.

Does USPSA simply hope that competitors will find all of this out via the grape vine or random internet searching. If a "WTF is going on" thread on the Brian Enos forum is the primary location for the match information that isn't a good thing.

Can't count how many times I just wanted to cancel this trip to shoot Nationals. Feel like a second class citizen by the way everything up to this point has been handled. Pay more because I did not win, told three different things in 24hrs by "Official website" IM with office, and email. Almost all of it partly wrong.

It doesn't matter what else is going on in the shooting sports this is USPSA's top of the year event to be run by the President.

What a joke this has become! Is it any wonder why people are leaving?

This would have to be the best match of my life for me to ever think of going through this again.

Yesterday after months of silence USPSA blew up Facebook with all of the sponsors, did they just sign on Sunday night? Every year for decades there has been a Nationals, why is it so messed up this year.

    Very disappointed with USPSA.

  2. For all the shooters that didn't feel there were enough vendors, and missed shooting side matches that previously had been sponsored by manufacturers, I'd suggest buying a few more of the $550 ARs that are on the market now. Margins are so slow, sales are so weak, across the entire industry, that they need to move some serious inventory to spend the money to send product, demos, and staff to a match for a few days.

If the reason was industry cutbacks then we should have been told instead of hyping it up.

These non-existent demos and side matches are STILL shown on the map in the match books which you can download. I could "meet and test products from some of the over sixty firearms related sponsors of the match." according to the Rockcastle Facebook page 2 days before registration, an official information outlet for this match. Nobody ever told us this stuff was not going to happen, even at sign-in. I had to drive around and figure it out on my own.

I would rather have been told that this year would be different so I could make an informed decision.

The point being made is if you feel you received your $250 worth in this match, good on you. If you didn't based on prior experience here & other places, then spend your match $ elsewhere, but let's be honest & call it like it is.

Many signed up to compete.....and shoot side matches, eat, & a bag of Chinese crap. Its more than just a match. I can shoot matches at home for $25.

Like it was said the web site still is full of hype that Rockcastle knew was not going to be there. Looks more like bait and switch than hones mistakes. Whatever the reason for the MD and Staff change, just level with the shooters. Up until the match I was disappointed that I could not get the time off of work. Now I'm damn happy I stayed home. Pro Am has always been "THE" match to shoot for the year. Its not just another match, it is an event that made everyone that attended feel like part of the shooting family. Instead of that weirdo that loves guns.

The ball wasn't just dropped, trust was lost.

If we had heard that this year was going to be a transitional year, people could have made a choice. Instead there is a feeling of betrayal and mistrust. Its going to take a lot of work to get shooters and sponsors to show up next year. Good Luck to everyone! Honestly hope Rockcastle can recover from this.

  3. Does anyone know what the round count is going to be?

    Thanks

This was posted back in June. Don't know if it has changed
    USPSA - Announcements

    Handgun Nationals Information

Some information for those shooting Handgun Nationals:

The match will be shot in a ½ day format over three days (AM, PM, AM or PM, AM, PM) in 36 squads of 12. Round count is approximately 465.

  4. This is posted on the Self Squadding page as of last night.

NOTICE: Squadding is open for Earned Slots ONLY at this time. Squadding for Wait List slots will open Aug 7th, 2015. If you don't see your name listed and you received a slot from the wait list, please DO NOT contact the office. Your name will appear on the list starting Aug 7th, 2015.

This was in todays email from USPSA (Aug 7th)

Self-squadding for the 2015 Handgun Nationals will open at noon PDT on Thursday, Aug. 6. Only the members who were awarded and turned in a slot application will be able to squad. For Members who have paid their $285 on the waitlist, slots have been mailed out this week and they will be able to squad once we receive their slot and get you registered.

No wonder why we do not know what is going on? Of the four running for President did any of them say they would improve communication with the lowly average shooter?

  5. Notices

If you received an earned slot and do not show on this list, please contact us at slots@uspsa.org and we'll look into it and get back to you.

You can find the squad schedules here. Competitors will compete on either an AM-PM-AM or PM-AM-PM schedule. Squads 1 -18 are AM/PM/AM and squads 19-36 are PM/AM/PM.

As you can imagine, the office is quite busy fielding calls and email, so we thank you for your cooperation during this very busy time!

Would have been great to know ANY of this yesterday, or any time before the system went live today. Second class shooters because we did not earn a slot. Pay more and get treated like dirt. Can't imagine why shooters are leaving USPSA

Does anyone have an idea what time the waitlist spots will be posted. Or do I need to keep hitting refresh every 3 seconds like a squirrel on crack?

  6. Yeah. I can't put in for time off work to shoot it until I have a hard slot.

What gets me is this is not the first Nationals. By this time policy should be in place, and they know what to expect. The rank and file have 24 hours to pay the $10.00 and three days to pay the match fee. While USPSA abide to almost no time constraints. Is it really a wonder why so many people now shoot 3Gun and other games, that do more about the rank and file shooters?

I am trying to stay positive and maintain enthusiasm to shoot Nationals. Kind of difficult when USPSA treats you like this.

So after all of my bitching and impatience it seems everything is falling into place. Less than a week till squadding opens about two months out till first shot. Kind of feel like a kid waiting for Christmas, just need to place trust in USPSA staff to get us all there. See you at the range.

  8. Just read this post/ thread whatever it's called, wanted to say thanks. Been shooting USPSA off and on for the last 15 years, never been hard core. Just something different to do. Shot Area matches, Nationals a few years ago and plan to go again this year. Took a few years to set up for 3Gun, thank God for Stoeger M3000 or I would still be shopping for a shotgun.

The stuff you bring for matches is down right annoying. USPSA is like a women going out with a little black purse. 3Gun is like taking a family of 5 to the beach for a week. Got old quick and I just see a pile of money sitting there going to waste. If I could only find a sherpa! This year not one 3Gun match and only one USPSA match.

Reading what everyone wrote took some of the guilt away. We do this because it is fun and for enjoyment. I find its the local "pros" make matches a chore. Shooting off their mouth better than their guns. That is why I shy away, trying to get back out there because for the most part it is rewarding to see how well I can shoot.

Thank you to all of the open honest replies.

  9. Used Arredondo's for years loved them on my G35. Has some issues with the mags hanging up. Started using TTI base pads this past winter, no more problems. Other than that I would say the same as everyone else for set up. Great advice wish I had it when I started shooting Limited with mine.

  10. I have had this problem in the past. A book on glocks in competition said to try pledge furniture polish. Have a to go bag in my range bag when they start to stick I wipe them down and no longer an issue. A packet last almost one entire season. Stay away from sanding it caused "hairs" and makes it worse. They said use an exacto knife and trim off any burrs.

  11. At the end of the day. This was a great deal for USPSA members that Remington did not have to do. All of the rules and conditions were clearly laid out before the sale even started. Kind of look at as an early Black Friday sale. Just missed my window. Does that mean that I will ever stop lusting over a 700 in .308, or the very sweet 1911 Enhanced. Hell no!! Love my 870 and 1100.

    Missed it by that much.

For those of you who did not, put a few extra down range for me.

    See you at the range.

  12. Placed an order on the 4th still nothing. Starting to regret doing this. Anyone else in this boat or just me?

What did you order? I got a confirmation email the day after faxing the paperwork.

Did you get yours yet? Ordered the 700 in .308. I got a email with only an attachment that was like a bill of sale. They made a point of stating that we can not contact them about the status.

  13. In "Glock in Competition" they advise against sandpaper, raises hairlike fibers causing more problems. I use Pledge wipes, a couple of bucks and they last almost a whole season. Oil collect dirt adding to the problem. Before the match I wipe down all of the mags and magwell, they drop out without a flick of the wrist. The other recommendations was to use an Exacto knife for any spurs on the mags. Good luck.
