I've tested the 2018 Kadet kit on my Shadow 2 a few weeks ago and with the 11lb (I think, it was one down from the stock Shadow 2) mainspring I did have light primer strikes on Federal, Remington and Winchester -- about 2-3 per hundred. Didn't have the time to put back the stock mainspring, I'd imagine it would work just fine like it did for @MsDV8.

I've got the X-calibur and the PDR Pro II and mine fits markedly better than the one in your image. It's still a bit "high" in the holster, but at least the trigger guard is fully covered. I think that this was probably a clerical mistake.Thank you for your reply. Yours is Mk12, with two takedown tabs, not the trigger-guard style takedown, right?

I have a question for Grand Power X-Calibur Mark 12 (the one with two tabs for takedown, not pull trigger guard down takedown) and the DAA PDR PRO II holster owners -- does the X-Cal fit well? I've just received my DAA PDR PRO II for X-Cal and it looks like it's been moulded/sized for the smaller frame Mark7 gun rather than the larger Mark12.
I'm soliciting feedback from the others to see if I should:
1. Fix the holster with the new rubber grommets
2. Return it for exchange
3. Return it for refund
PS. I know Red Hill Tactical makes a superb holster for X-Calibur and I have one as well, but for this specific purpose I need the DAA one.

A lot of fellow Canadian IPSC shooters install the +2 adaptor on their Mecgar magazines to facilitate reloads. As there's no box in IPSC it's fine outside of US. I'm not sure if the combo would fit in the USPSA box tho. Anyone has actually tried/measured that?
PS. I've tried googling, there're too many irrelevant results.

Help me out here gentlemen, I'm still on the fence wherever I should fly or drive to a match in US (from Canada). It's going to be a very long and boring drive, but I'll get to bring all my toys with me and the time spent travelling is NOT a constraint for me.
My problems with flying are:
1. Either very short (1 hour) connection or an overnight stay in Toronto, where I'll need to clear US customs & immigration. The former is probably not enough time the latter is an extra expenditure on the way.
2. One of the more reasonable flights includes a connection in San Francisco on my way back home -- I'm not sure if my gun is on the CA-approved list (although all my magazines are 10-rounds) and don't want any problems with the local LE. Is this going to be a problem?
When flying to matches within Canada, people sometimes mail their guns and ammo (thru separate carriers) to themselves, address of the hotel where they'll be staying and it's cheaper/less inconvenient than flying with the firearm/ammo.
So I have a (maybe naive) question -- do all inter-state firearms shipments have to be to/from FFL or can I mail the gun/ammo myself to myself? Myself to an FFL?
Any tips/suggestions?

FWIW PractiScore is not the only multi-platform app which has different feature set on different platforms.
I totally see Eugene's point on implementing activity and match result files generation on Android, especially that the 3rd gen iPod touch can be had second hand on ebay for $20-$30 and it can run PractiScore which has this feature.
PS. Was EZWS developed under contract from USPSA? As in paid contract?

Do all of the new production grand power guns come with the serrated, plastic trigger? I am getting some trigger bite from the curvature of trigger and i figured perhaps i could swap in an older, non serrated metal trigger into my xcal?
Does anyone have any insight into what is currently produced for these guns trigger wise?
When I ordered my X-Cal, the new serrated trigger (and sport safety levers) was an upgrade, so I believe I still have the stock parts. I can assure you, the new trigger is better. Although I can't remember if the stock trigger I have would be metal or plastic.
Any chance you're going to Production Nationals this year? I can bring the stock trigger there so you can try it (ideally on your backup gun).

Get an IPAD. Buy an used one.
I actually managed just well with the old iPod. I was about to post it for sale on CL for like $30 (don't like things collecting dust) but I'll put it to use now.
We use practiscore.com for sign-ups, it's much easier to sync all registrations from the web-site via WiFi than to deal with import/files, etc.
But anyways, I just checked in my iPod and I see options to generate both webfile.txt and activity report, I think I'll be using that from now on.

Thanks, when I've searched the forum I've seen one or two comments saying that the Speedtimers are the loudest. If you have a first-hand experience with them all, how *much* louder you'd say the Speedtimer 3000 is over say CED 7000?
What some clubs do is use the 8000 timer and get the external horn attached to it. That really helps with broadcasting the buzzer sound out when it gets loud.

How close are the ROs holding it to your head? I tend to put it as close as possible without interference or allowing the shooter to see my hand movements on an uprange facing start.
When we shot outside RO held it very close to the ear. Inside with CED7000 it didn't really matter, you couldn't hear it over gunshots anywhere.

Not sure about the classifier question. I define the stages in ezws, register folks there and then export to the master iPad. Exporting back from iOS to a new empty match file seems to get the classifiers recognized as such in ezws. I don't use the android version for a master, so I don't know if it would be different for that. (I do treat both as two completely different animals with different features that happen to have the same product name, which is an admittedly odd situation.)
I'm pretty sure it should work even on an original iPad with those versions. I think others are already doing that, as I recall.
Sorry, I'm pretty new to match management (to a point where I have to read the rulebook again before each match), what do you mean by "iOS version can upload produce both results for practiscore.com"?
In EzWS I can generate the "webfile.txt" which is essentially the match results and the <club code>-<date>.txt which is the club activity report (the one which requires payment to HQ). Can iOS version generate and store on internal memory both files?
I'll need to wait for my *iPod* (sadly no iPad) to charge before I can try iOS PractiScore on it.

What specifically have you had to fix in EzWS regarding classifier stages? Only Android has those preloaded and if there's a problem with one it should be reported.
Requirements for iOS are (from iTunes page)
Requires iOS 5.1.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
When I created the classifier stage in PS-Android last time and imported stages into EzWS the classifier stage was not properly imported as classifier, I've had to set it up as a classifier in EzWS.

Actually I don't consider it a bug because both apps record scores and generate results. The iOS version just has a few enhancements, like the ability to see results per individual and generate the USPSA upload file.
And I was banging my head against the wall failing to find that feature in Android version, now I know why!
Can iOS PractiScore generate both match results file *and* activity report?
I've had on occasion fix the classifier stage as the proper classifier in EzWS after importing data from PractiScore, does the iOS version properly identify classifiers as such?
What are the iOS requirements for the PractiScore? I have a very old iPod I haven't used in ages, it's probably on iOS 6.x (if not 5.x) -- would PractiScore work there?

After having shot 99-40 (4-string 4-seconds par time classifier shot at 15', 30', 45' and 60') outdoors and barely hearing the timer there it turned into a complete disaster trying to run this classifier indoors. We had to toss out the stage halfway thru the 1st shooter and replaced it another classifier.
I really like the concept tho, so I'm wondering if there's maybe a timer which is significantly louder than the others?
Or is it a tall order trying to find the timer which will be heard over the gunshots (and especially over the indoor range echoes)?
99-40 description specifically mentions audible signal for start/stop, but can it be legally changed to a visual signal? Are there inexpensive timer setups supporting visual signals?

Gentlemen, thanks for all the replies, some food for thought here for sure.
I was really hoping someone have had a hands-on experience with both SOG and Midway bags tho. My choice is limited to those two at the moment.
I checked out the SOG bag at the store and I think it looked smaller than the Midway bag (which I believe is a clone of the Shooters Connection Tournament Series PRO Bag) and if I paid attention to the web-sites I would have noticed it while doing my research at home.
It looked pretty decent tho and I was ready to buy it but then noticed that it's missing the gun sleeve and it was the last one at the store, so I passed.
As much as I like my buddy's Midway bag, out of the two I think I would prefer the size of the SOG bag. If you fill the Midway bag up to the brim it might get very heavy, so no advantage in size imho.
I think I'll just order SOG bag online from Walmart while they still have them.

What holsters are you guys using for the x cal? Ive been looking at the DAA but the x cal model is not available through Max's choice.
Try Kingman if you're in USA or ping Canuck223 if you're in Canada, they'll sort you out.

We've had a shooter competing in two different divisions in L1 Special match last December and the activity report generated by the EZWinScore with the files imported from PractiScore included him in two different divisions, so in your case you'd be charged for two classifiers for the shooter competing in two divisions.

I never seem to be able to catch the Midway bag in stock and I found out that the SOG Black 6 Gear Bag is available at Walmart and it looks suspiciously similar.

Has anyone physically compared the two?
Midway bag PROs:
1. My friend bought one a very long time ago and it held up well thru the years
2. I have a Midway rifle drag case and it's very well designed/made from a high quality nylon
3. Loving the charcoal color, doesn't attract attention and scream tactical like a black/tan/OD bags
Midway bag CONs:
1. Always out of stock when I'm ready to buy
2. No MOLLE straps line on the SOG
SOG bag PROs:
1. MOLLE all over
2. Removable internal bag has D-rings for the should strap attachment
3. It's available for the immediate pickup from one of the nearby stores
SOG bag CONs:
1. Unknown quality, couldn't find any reviews *for this particular bag*, the nylon used looks flimsier online than that of the Midway bag
2. Available in black only.
If anyone has the SOG bag please post your take on it.
PS. I realize what the origin of the Midway bag is, so let's not turn it into who ripped who thread.

A fellow shooter brought on of these to the match and I dry-fired it in the safety area. The trigger pull and especially reset were horrible. Reset is almost as long as the pull.
Also, AFAIK the original batch which made it into North America was not IPSC Production legal (barrel too long or too short by 1mm, can't recall). I think I've seen it on USPSA Production list nonetheless, but if you go to an international match you may have issues.
Also of note -- the rear sights on the 1st gen were proprietary, molded into the slide cover plate.
I don't know anyone with the 2nd gen of this gun, I hear the sights, barrel length and some other mechanical issues were addressed there, but if the trigger remained the same I'd stay far away from this gun for competitions.

Where in PNW are you? We have a indoor Tues night match and we've been using the Newbold plates for a few months. They work great. The match is in Everett if you're anywhere close. (we just ordered some poppers, so it remains to be seen how well they work).
Oh, thanks for the invite, I'm in Vancouver BC, I do make it to Custer, Marysville and Renton Sunday matches, but attending a match on a weekday would be a challenge for me.

Speaking of modding and ruining a good thing in search of a perfect -- I've done that.
My thumb cannot reach the mag release button without breaking the grip so after I've tried the lever mag release at the factory I bought it on the spot.
Once I got home, I've messed up the install, despite taking a video of how it's done by the GP gunsmith. Caused me a lot of problems with the magazines which I couldn't pinpoint to the mag release. Even when I realized what was wrong it took me 2 or 3 attempts to get it installed correctly. So for my next GP gun I'll try my best to have it ordered with the lever release from the factory.
custom molded earplugs -- what to use for protective coat?

I've seen different vendors doing the custom molded earplugs at various big matches, I just can't stomach their prices, especially after having a great experience with Radians and Decibullz (and knowing how much did Costco charge while they were still doing custom molded earplugs). The only thing I don't like is that the Radians seem to be a dirt magnet, so I'm wondering if anyone knows what do the commercial vendors use to apply the transparent protective coat on the expensive ones?
