  1. Dayum....$200 frame to sweet ride! I actually went to the shop to buy a Fizik Arione, but they were out. I'd test ridden a bike with the Spec Toupe Ti and thought it was pretty comfy so I went with that. I'd still like to try the Fizik as they have great reviews. R,
    That's what I bought G-Man.
  2. Here's mine. Bought the frame off ebay for $200 and assembled it with new campagnolo record shifters, derailures, cranks, eurus wheels with shimano dura ace brake set. Handle bar by ITM, Thompson seat post and red saddle replaced with black Fizik saddle - very comfy. That red selle itallia saddle was so hard on my tootsies. :( Weighs 16 lbs.

  3. I made a little bracket to hold my KISS feeder on the 1050 post.. were I to use it on the 650, I'd make another one for that to ease the swap even more.

Hi shred, I'd like to install a KISS feeder to my 1050 and liked the idea on how you installed it. Can you give me more details or pictures of the mounting bracket. Thanks.

  4. Just want to get some input from you guys who have tried one as far as the best thumb rest for a small hand. Having a small hand gives me a disadvantage of gripping the gun better and was thinking about installing one if it definitely helps to control the gun. Thanks in advance.

  5. I've used the dillon case lube before and it work great as far as lubricating the case. The only thing I did not like about it is that it forms some gunk in my casefeed over time and the unused brass sprayed with it also gets gunky over time. I just started using one shot and the difference I see is that it dries up after a min. When I spray my casings, it does not even leave any wet residue the towel or paper. I still have to see how it performs over time and check for gunk problems as well using one shot case lube.

  6. I was shooting 38 super before switching to 9 major. I didn't know there was a difference on the bottom of the 38 super vs 9 mm sizer die. Some of my buddies recommend using the 38 super undersize die from EGW and just thought of using it since I already had one available. Once it goes through the 9mm sizer die, I don't get the ring marks after it passes stage 2 with the 38 super undersized die. At least now, I know why it causes ring marks on the 9mm casing and not with 38 super and thanks for the info. So far, I really liked the setup with less wasted brass, powder and bullets.

  7. I just started using the super 1050 for my 9mm major ammo. I had trouble the first time using it with primer feed problems but found out later it was a very minor problem which was cause by powder spill. As a new 1050 user, it took me a while to figure out how this machine works. After so many weeks understanding how this machine works and tweaking this machine, it sure is the best out there. The only thing I did was to make sure it is clean from spilled powder. Using one shot case lube made a big difference and is a believer of the product. Thanks to all who suggested this product.

My next problem was having a ring at the bottom of the case using a 38 super undersize decapping and sizer die from EGW. It got to a point that it shave's a good amount of brass at the bottom of the case causing a ring which is also rough resulting to poor magazine feed. For days, I was using a single stage press using a Dillon 9mm sizer die running each case before putting them in the casefeeder and it solve the problem but not the effort and time. Finally got tired of doing it and found a remedy for the problem.

*** TIP *** I ended having to install the Dillon 9mm sizer/decapping die on my 1050's 1st stage and remove the expander die on the 2nd stage and replaced it with the EGW 38 super undersize sizer die - can use a 9mm undersize die too instead of the 38 super **** make sure you take out the decapping pin before installing your undersize die in the 2nd stage ***. To make sure all my loads are useable, I installed a LEE factory crimp die on my last stage. I was very pleased with the results of my loads which where very consistent when is comes to gauging my ammos. Now, I got no ring problems at the bottom of the case and have more time doing other chores instead of spending time in my single press running each case through a sizer/decapping die. This setup may be too extreme to others but in the end, it will save me money not throwing away loaded ammo that does not fit the gauge or spending time using a bullet puller separating the bullet, powder and brass.

  8. Carl, unless you have forming tools and abilities you will have to use a percussive repair technique. I understand your hesitation in doing so. Be aware that as you move the tube in one direction it will probably move in other directions as well, go slow, pay attention and check it often.

I did find it easier to just send it to you after finding out that the SV tubes where fatter than the STI tubes as it tapers off on top of the mag release hole. As I push the SV tube in, I can see that the mag tube hole does not come up far enough to for the mag release button to hold. I can also see that when you force the SV tubes in, the top of the grip expands just below the frame. So I concluded that the SV mag tubes were fatter as it tapers off on top of the tube hole and had no experience deforming the tubes.

Howard, I noticed that that newer SV mag tubes seems to be thicker than the older ones. Is that a correct observation? Did SV change the thickness? Because I have heard complaints about the SV tubes cracking from some of my friends.

  9. +1 on to much tension. you got a death grip on the gun. It somethimes happens to me when I am trying to shoot up close targets too fast.

I found myself doing this when my strong hand grip is greater than my weak hand grip and that includes squeezing the trigger to hard.

  10. 9mm/38 Super/38SC all should have around a .378 diameter at the case mouth

Measured mine to be 0.381. Is it too big? I'm using MTG 124JHP

.381 should be okay...there's a little variation in all brass and bullets, but you're in the ballpark. If you're getting the coke bottle look and have the crimp at .381 it's not likely you'll have setback and if they pass the case gauge/feed okay, you should be fine.

Good to know and thanks. Forgot to mention I was using a new starline 38 super brass.

  11. Thanks for your possible answers.

    coke bottle look?

    yes

    What cartridge are you loading?

38 super and will start with 9mm major

    Lee Under-Sized Die????

Dillon sizing die and Lee sizing die undersized

A good way to check it is to just use enough flare on the (Not flair, this isnt Chotchki's, or whatever the restaurant was.. biggrin.gif ) case to seat the bullet smoothly. Then back off the crimp die until you are not touching the flare. Then adjust it slowly until the case mouth is smooth with no rough edges. Then pull the bullet and check the bullet for the "crimp" line. You want a faint impression line with jacketed bullets, less for plated, and you can put a little more on the lead bullets, but you do not want to deform the bullet by the crimp.

    I may try this too.

  12. I have this problem with my 650 and 1050 after the ammo is crimp. I leaves a bullet shape on the top 1/3 portion of the brass casing - it shows the shape of the bullet inserted inside the brass casing. I look at my buddy's ammo and it's completely straight with no signs of the bullet shape after being crimped.

Will opening up the casing to much during the powder funnel stage be the culprit for this problem? What possible problems can cause the brass casing to sort of form the bullet shape after the crimping stage.

  13. Keep in mind that the merchant is being charged to process the transaction and this cuts into the profit margin. They could always mark up their merchandise and then offer cash or check discounts, same end result.

Here is some interesting material on the subject. http://www.gofso.com/Premium/LE/06_le_ic/f...-merchants.html

Forgot to respond on your very good info link. Thanks.
