  1. Been shooting the MG-115's for about a year in my stock Grandmaster. Find them flatter and slightly

more accurate than the MG-124's I was using(1.5 vs 2.0 inches @ 25 yds). PF=170 with the following load :

    8.7 gr True Blue

    1.170 OAL

    Range brass

    Fed SPP

I also believe the increased slide velocity(in recoil) has cured my 1/100 failure to eject problem.

    ( I am running a 7 lb recoil/15 lb main springs in a 12.6 oz. slide )

  2. I'm running 115 gr MG JHP at 1.167OAL over 8.7 gr of True Blue.

Expect to chrono at 1550 FPS extrapolating from 8.1gr /115 ( 1426 actual) and 124 gr data.

Have been shooting this for 2 months now. Comp likes extra gas and load runs cleaner than before.

Will give you some rounds to test if you want.

  3. As I remember my statistics ....

    + or - 1 SD = 67%

    + or - 2 SD = 95%

    + or - 3 SD = 99.5%

So in order to be 99.5% sure you pass the chrono stage you need a median fps of 1056 (1008 + 3 x the SD of 16).

Bump up the charge for the FL Open and try to lower your SD in the future. Although, I agree 16 ain't bad.

  4. I have not been able to get the OAL variation below +/-.005" on my Lee Loadmaster. I have a Redding

Competition seating die and have added "C" clamps to the toolhead to prevent verticle movement.

Even when I segregate the ammo produced from each shellplate hole I still get variations of +/- .004".

Although this drives me bats, I calculate a difference of .010" OAL only makes a ~1.3% difference in case volume.

    So, forgeddabouit ...

  5. I'm using the MG 124 JHP's over 8.0 gr of True Blue at 1.170 OAL with Fed SPP. Gives me a chrono of 1380-1400 FPS out of my TruBore Grandmaster.

I have tested Sil but found it dirtier. Also found that the JHP's grouped much tighter (2 vs 4" @ 25 yds)than MG's 124 CMJ's.

True Blue is clean and meters very well and I'm sticking with it.

  6. I can't see how brass can make a difference ... the bottom of each case sits on the same shell plate and the shoulder of each bullet contacts the same seating die.

The only way to get a variation in OAL is for these surfaces to vary their distance apart (assuming the stroke ends at the same place each time). Say, the shell plate is wavy or moves on its spindle, or the spindle is canter, or the die moves up and down in its toolhead.....right ??
