The movie finally made it to my small town and I'm just getting home from seeing it. Great movie - it was almost a comedy at times and quite sad at others. Thanks for the recommendation (my wife thanks you too).
I also was thinking of the poor cameramen during the storms. Brrrr!!!!

It's so bad, I had to own it.
Everyone I have shown "Cannibal, the Musical" to has laughed through most of the movie.

What is appreciable is the amount of money you'll save using 115 grain component bullets over the heavier weights- they're a lot cheaper.
But you'll use more powder pushing the lighter bullets. It would make an interesting cost analysis to see if everything evens out.

I am fairly certain that with the higher cost on bullets right now, the 115's will be cheaper to load, even with the greater amounts of powder used. However, I still load 147's since they seem to cycle much more reliably.

It might have been at one time. But now it's mainly a nice layer of mold. The Titegroup doesn't seem to mind though

FWIW, I haven't noticed any keyholing with any of these loads. I've shot about 1500 of them so far. My friend was getting keyholing with the loads and the cure was to lengthen the OAL a bit.

I've been using 3.3gr of Titegroup with Berry's 147's and love it. I don't have a chrono yet (next purchase) so can't give you any stats there. However, this load shoots great and cycles the gun reliably.

I have never used N320 but do use Titegroup for my 9 loads. I'm loading 147's with 3.5 gr (If I remember correctly) of Titegroup. When compared to any sort of major load, this is a joke. Shooting doesn't get much lighter. I agree with Steve that it does leave the brown haze on my gun, but I don't care - it wipes off easily. With the low recoil, low cost and reliability, I have no reason to check out any other powders. Plus, I use it for my 38 Spcl steel loads as well.

I just started loading 38 Spcl on a 650 a month ago. I ordered the Dillon set of dies and the roll crimp die seems to work great (actually, I think Brian described it as a taper/roll crimp die). I cannot set back the bullets by pressing on them. However, I am loading fairly light rounds for steel and have not tested the crimp with stiffer loads. So, with my light loads there is no problem with the bullets jumping forward.

Do not worry too much about how much of the case you fill . Any powder that will not allow you to fit in a doublecharge in a 38 case at minor level will not give you the consistancy that you really need.Take the time to get your press working properly,realise that machines dont make mistakes, people do and you will love that powder.
I do like Titegroup in the 9's I load for IPSC. So, it would be a benefit if I could use it in both. Plus, the 4 and 8 lb containers are pretty economical.

I loaded and shot a couple different loads using Titegroup and they all seemed to work well. Boy, it's hard to see the small amount of powder down in those cases. I think I'm going to find a powder that has a little more volume to it...any suggestions? I also really need to get a chronograph! Thanks for the help.

So, it should be safe to drop the load 10-15% from published max with the shortened OAL? I do know that there is going to be lots of free space in the case using Titegroup.
Anyone else have any recommendations for minor loads using 38 Spcl? I'll be shooting steel with it. Thanks.

I'm wanting to load some 38 Special loads to minor pf. I would like to try West Coast 158 gr RN bullets and use Titegroup if possible. The problem is, if I set the bullet deep enough to get the cannelure in the correct spot, the OAL is 1.40". However, all the load data I have found for 158 gr bullets has the OAL longer (1.42 - 1.48"). Does anyone have any recipes for this bullet?
If not, is there a safe way to create a new load? I've always started 10% below max load when trying a new load but that has been when there was existing, good data. Should I increase the percentage and by how much?

Very nice assortment of FAQ's. I asked several of those questions when I recently ordered my 650. I've been very happy with it and have successfully cranked out a couple thousand rounds. Will be trying them in a steel shoot tomorrow.

I had the same problem. I had to notch the front of the bench in order for the press to work with the strong mount.
