  1. A big shout out to iron man Darren Garrity. He valiantly shot last week's club match at Osceola. Four 100-round stages plus a team side match with 51 pieces of steel. Yup, 16 moonclips plus 6 rounds in the gun. He had to change trigger fingers near the end of each stage but gutted them out.

Hey Darren, Carmoney is forever your bitch!

I'll attach pics when I get time.

  2. "From the proximity of the Tappe brother's Birthdays, it looks Like Jay only gets action once a year; somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas. He can borrow my thong if he thinks it will help."

    Hey Cliff,

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the only time cool enough in Dallas for strenuous activity.

I'd borrow your thong but there ain't enough room in it for my barrel.

  3. 165.5 PF :surprise: ! I would like to call it skill at the reloading machine but.... Thanks for all of your support. I am working on getting to A class in open after being moved up to B.
Dad is going down at the Illinios Sectional.

I guess you're not expecting much for your birthday (or Christmas).

    Your dad.

  4. Thanks Paul.

Sure had a blast shooting with you, Dave, Aaron, and Louis. How was the ride home? Did you get a bunch of smack from the boys? It was a tough ride for me from Tulsa a couple of weeks ago.

I wish I could reload as fast as Louis (maybe I could beat Craig and Phillip).

While fresh in your minds, now is a good time to offer criticisms of this match and suggestions for the next one. Should we ban thongs (or just Cliff)? Should we have a thong-only match? Should we hire pasters wearing only pasties (ever had one of those stuck to your tongue?)? Should the hot tub be filled with water or jello? Just some things to consider.

Glad you all had a great time. Can't wait to do it again.

  5. The road to the range is 680th Ave.

680th avenue is at mile marker 163 on highway 30.

It is 4.6 miles from the town of Nevada's 19th street overpass to 680th avenue.

It is 1.9 miles from highway 65 to 680th avenue.

You will turn north off of highway 30 onto 680th avenue which is a gravel road. It is 1.0 miles to the range. The obligatory IPSC targets with arrows and marked 3DR will be posted.

The first picture is of the highway 30/680th avenue interchange looking east (you will be coming from Ames or Nevada). The second picture is looking west (coming from highway 65). The third picture is what you see when you turn north on 680th avenue.

  6. The X17 portion of 3 Days of Revo will be run on 3 ranges. 6 courses of fire (2 per range) in the morning and 3 courses of fire (1 per range) in the afternoon. There will be approximately 15 shooters per range.

To finish in a reasonable amount of time we are requiring speedloaders (please have at least 5). I spoke to Dave Skrzela (ds-10-speed@hotmail.com) last week. He is bringing some speedloaders and loading blocks to the match for sale. Please contact him if you need a specific model.

We will discourage sorting cartridges from spent brass at the line. Please bring a container to dump brass and cartridges into after each run. You can sort after you are off the line. Various containers will work but we have found a shotshell belt to be efficient. The belt Craig is wearing can be found at Walmart for $12 (I've seen them at 2 stores in Iowa and 1 in Tulsa, they are sold under Bob Allen, Winchester, and Remington brands). It has three pockets: 1 for loaded speedloaders, 1 for empty speedloaders, and 1 to hold cases and cartridges. Carmoney said he might rotate his 45 degrees and use it as a loincloth (I guess he wore out the assless chaps).

Hope this helps. Please contact me, Mike or Sam if you have any questions.

  7. How about this being the year you guys succumb to popular demand and get rid of those frickin' letters and numbers targets?

They create way too much of a luck factor, and they tip the match strongly in favor of the hi-cap shooters who simply blaze back and forth and back and forth....

It's a fun match, but I have yet to talk to anybody who truly thinks the letters and numbers are a real test of shooting skill.

Please God, restrain me. I could have some fun with this post.

  8. To anybody that thinks that they are going.

    Open or Limited.

Us Tappes are 1 open and 2 limited and I would be dumbfounded if either of the Carmoneys shoot open so...

Sounds like 4 limited and 1 open so far.

    Whats everybody else shooting?

Craig just finished reading Romeo and Juliet (written in Elizabethan English). He's a little confused.

Like Mike wrote: OPTICS & IRON SIGHTS are the two divisions.

  9. I think that comment went right over the heads of these young bucks. If Carmoney only knew!

.....and as for you, quit trying to mess up this perfectly good thread! There may other people wishing to pay homage to my skills. ;)

Do you still accept payment in tubs of butter?

  10. Are the sat/sun matches going to be set up "6 rd neutral" or the 8 rds EVERY time I'm used to (and sick of) seeing?

The USPSA rules that tend to generate lots of 8-round arrays are out the window--we're going to do what we want, and what we think everybody will find fun.

That's what I was hoping for. When will apps be available? Anybody around SE Wisconsin want to carpool? I can put the seat back in my Astro Van.

Official announcement/application form should be up tonight or tomorrow.

  11. Will we be drawing from a holster for the rimfire match or will it be the usual rimfire start for steel challenge?

We'll use the regular "low ready" start position, no holster will be needed for the rimfire match.

    Mike,

I thought we had a rule that Minnesotans are only allowed to shoot weakhanded. And match fees are doubled. What about that tax for allowing them into Iowa?

So now not only am I supposed to disarm before entering Iowa I'm getting taxed on top of it?

    Keith,

Didn't god make Minnesota so Iowans would have something to joke about?

Hey, what's the best view in Minnesota? .................... In your rearview mirror as you're entering Iowa. LOL

See ya in July (or sooner).

    Jay

Hiya Jay! Should've knowd that was you.
