  1. Ran my CZ last night from Stuart - and I have to say - I almost couldn't tell the DA was actually DA - this thing is AWESOME Stuart - oh and his turn around is MEGA FAST - STUART IS YOUR GUY!!!!!

I felt the trigger on this beast last night. It's awesome. I would go for Stuart or Mink for any Shadow work, period.

    +1

  2. Thank you all for the advise. I decided to take the recommendation of BrianATL and purchased the custom gun that Matt Cheely has for sale on the forum.

Very smart move. Personally, I'd take Matt up on his offer of an CMore with the upright rather than sideways mount.

    +1

  3. competitive is an essential part of the 21st century , with competitivy comes clasification ( there has to be a #1 and so on ) , and for some reason people feel entitled to clasify based on many things like customer service , quality of the product , history of the brand , involvement with a particular group or activity , etc

never heard the expression ; this girl is my " best friend " ?? or this family member is the " closest one to me " ? ( terms with which i dont agree but hey peolple usem them )

in this particular case every shooter has a particular two or three gunbuilders they like based on like i said before many things , same as their favorite pistol or pistols , their favorite star shooter , etc , in my case i've seen Derek's work and quality since 1998

when you do the math and see how many shooters consider Millenium a top three product and Derek a top three gunbuilder and you see how fearless and intense his supporters are you ought to give him some consideration

add to all that the fact that his pistols WIN competitions

others are also great gunbuilders but Derek is among the greatest

  4. forgot to mention Derek is a M class active shooter and has been doing guns since the mid 90's , other smiths either have a team working altogether for the same product or have somebody else and then take the credit hence the time to talk to anybody who makes a call at anytime

to the OP , be a little bit pacient and it will pay off , talk to Derek about your needs and wants you will not regret it

  5. saw Derek 2 weeks ago , healthy active person so no need to worry there , he is like they mention before a top three gunbuilder and gunsmith , he's very busy as you might know he owns AFTEC ( a top notch element of any serious handgun used by many gunsmiths ) , he also runs his gun store ( which is quite nice and big ) and he still services and maintains his products as well as make repairs and tries to fix handguns put together by some gunsmiths riding the wave of the hype nowdays , his guns are top notch and are like the energizer battery ; go and go and go and go ( in shooting sports terms run and run and run ), you will have more luck calling him early in the morning ( florida morning 9ish ) , i dont know if you know that at the nationals in limited division last year was won by Shannon Smith using a Millenium custom pistol , do some online research and you will see that some of the best shooters out there use and have his guns i dont know if i should post this but Sevigny in his facebook page has pictures using Milleniums customs among other shooters , you have picked one of the best to maintain and add elements to you gun , he is a class act is just that right now hes very busy , his phone rings literally non-stop its hard to have a complete conversation with the phone around , hope this helps to insure you that you should have no doubts at all and that you have like many know and say one of the top guys in the business

  6. i remember Robert De Niro on the movie Ronin saying " if there's a doubt then there's no doubt " , whoever starts renting open guns for shooters to decide if they like open guns is going to make a killing , if you have doubts then maybe its not your time yet , if you can borrow a gun first for couple of months and then see go ahead and do so

    hope this helps

    good luck

  7. Not to be argumentative but it sounds like an gunsmith that was overly aggressive with the mill has created this problem. It sounds like he created a stress riser that is failing.

Blaming STI for it is sort of similar to blaming Chevrolet for a blown up motor if you put nitrous on it. It seems like the the gunsmith has made a mistake not STI.

    Bingo !!!!

  8. should the 5.4 be bushing or bull barrel , does it require extra lightening like the 6 or moderate to none like the 5 ? very interesting topic that came to me at the right time , thanks in advance guys

  9. what's funny about his achievement in area 6 rocking the SS is that he is clasified as " U " in that division , looks like he is one of those shooters that can pick any gun at any game and still beat you with it , congrats Max is really nice to see you shoot

  10. ... I just want to have the data on what gear the top shooter use.

Most years, there is a thread on what the top 10 or so used at the Nationals. Look it up on the search page. (unless you have already made up your mind and just want confirmation to bolster your choice, because you won't really get that from the data).

I can run it down pretty quick. I don't think anybody has won the Limited Nationals with an SV. Smitty was the 2nd to win with an STI. There might have been a "McCormick" frame used back in the day (which is really the same as an STI/SV frame). Caspian, Para & Springfield won most of the Nationals other than that (because of who was shooting them). Glock gets there with 2 of the best iron sighted shooters in the game running them.

If you are comparing STI's and SV's and any other variation of the 1911...you are really comparing gunsmiths and components used. Everybody is going to have their favorites...including their sponsors. ;) Which is fine...as most of those that have been around long enough to have a name in our game make good stuff.

Smitty is the current USPSA Limited National Champion. He has bragging rights!

    * disclaimer...I was one of the early guys to make GM with a Glock.

Smitty's gun was built by Millennium Customs

  11. I have had 3 lexus ( 2 V8s one V6 ), my next car will be a Subaru , i used to work for Toyota Motor Company headquarters

hybrid technology i think is still in diapers , i rather have a diesel engine

I don't mean to be negative nor steer you away from your decision , just wanted to share with you my experience

good luck and enjoy that awesome new car smell

  12. can't have just one Glock , for me G22 gen3 - G24 - G35 gen4 - and early glock 17 gen1

they are too cheap to just have one , easily one if not the best gun in the world being incredibly simple and versatile , aftermarket support and availability is #1

  13. i have a friend that shoots his G34 completely stock and kicks butt left and right north to south putting open shooters and limited shooters to shame , i tried his pistol once and once amazed at how heavy the trigger was i tought the gun was all tricked out but to my surprise was all stock not even the sights were changed , he told me once that all those changes will make you relay in what the gun needs to make you a better shooter instead of what you need to do to become a better shot , since then i've been a believer of the indian skills not the arrow type

  14. i have a GSG with over 10k rounds on it , broke a firin pin and bushing , called the company about it both times and got the parts under warranty within a week , great customer service , the gun loves to be clean and of course after these many miles is showing some wear ,i think its a pretty good option for what it is ,i recommend them without hesitation to anyone interested in a 1911 in .22lr , wish my .40's could shoot that soft and flat and cheap
