  1. I don't have any answers but T have a 238 with the stainless slide.

250-300 rounds so far, mostly American Eagle, and some hollow points

Only problems I had were in the first 15 rounds ftf

I will look at my brass next time I shoot it and report back, I do not load for 380 so I just swept them up and tosses them in the bucket.

I have been pleasantly surprised with how mine shoots. I hope you get your problems sorted out.

  2. Well my local range is not idpa it's idpa style.

This is where I do most of my shooting. I follow all idpa rules except cover garment.

Hey trigger time is trigger time.

I have recently been shooting at another range also. Real idpa.

I have not shot the classifier at a "real event"

my unclassified scores are in the range of the expert scores at these matches.

I hope to shoot the classifier this year.

  3. On my cdp gun I prefer the s&a magwell and 8 rd Wilson mags.

It is a Wilson stainless protector.

Cylinder and slide machined my para slide for a novak front, this gave me unlimited choises.

Any reputable smith should be able to cut it for you.

Finding someone local that's good will save you on shipping.

  4. I am going to practice this, make sense too as this is what I did when I started playing this game...

I'm going to set up some targets out back for dry-fire and have my wife or a friend tell me the cof they want.

When I set the cof up myself it is a no brainer.

Thanks for all the good suggestions.

  5. Ok so I have been having this problem at matches lately.

    Example,

On one COF the SO said three shots on each ect, ect, ect.

Buzzer goes off 123, 123, 123 while retreating, move over to cover and shoot around barricade, 12, reload 12,12. I called good shots.

Unload and show clear, dam I forgot to put 3 on those last three target.

I seem to be having these mental errors lately.

I am trying to keep my mind relaxed and be aware and observer the shooting.

When I do this I am making mistakes that deviate from the normal” look at the stage and shoot it by the rules".

I use to do things like say 3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3, over and over or "head shots head shots"in my head if that is what was called for, but then my awareness suffers.

Any suggestions on how you guys cope with this?

What goes on in your mind that doesn't detract from the actual shooting?

I hope I explained it right, if it is not clear I can try to elaborate.

  6. When it is reasonable to carry my IDPA gun I do, It is a para 16-40. I feel most confident with it.

Many times the weather and or outfit I wear makes this difficult, then I carry an aluminum Kimber pro carry II.

In the hot summer month when doing lots of activities I carry a sig238 (colt mustang clone)

I try to stick to 1911 style for carry no matter what so the controls and feeling is the same as what I compete with.

I also have the same Ed Brown thumb safety on all my 1911's to kelp keep the feel the same.

    Hope this is helpfull

  7. I was going to bobtail one of my carry 1911's with an aluminum frame. I did some research and found there are reputable places that will re anodize it after I fit it.

The cost just didn't seem worth it so I never did the bob.

It could be an option if you are worried about chewing up the exposed aluminum.

  8. I shoot 90% indoor IDPA.

I run a plain bomar black rear, I was ruining a Dawson FO front.

Most matches are poorly lit so the FO would just be black.

Plain black is fine for me in most shooting scenarios but in low light it was taking to long for me to pick it up.

I just recently switched to a trijicon 125 x 200 front. So far I seem to be able to pick it up a little faster. It could just be that I have more confidence with it. Time and more experience will tell.

All my other carry guns have some sort of night sights on them so I figured the change couldn't hurt.

    Hope this helps a little.

  9. I am cross eye dominant, I also cant shoot without my glasses, I wear them for everything.

I did not realize that some people don't see double when shooting until I read Brian's book.

I shoot right handed with my left foot forward a little 6-9" and my head slightly turned to the right about 1:00 if we call 12:00 center. I find this helps me identify the correct image faster. I am not sure If this is a correct solution but it works for me so far.

I have tried tape but I assumed I would be limiting my skills by doing so??

    Anyway, great read, thanks

  10. Those are gorgeous guns, gentlemen.

Pardon my IDPA ignorance, is ESP Division comparable to Limited or Lim-10?

I noticed a 9x19 in the mix, I assume you don't have to worry about power factor and such?

Thanks in advance for any answers I might get. I am just curious.

Yeah it is basically equal to limited 10 but with only having to make 125 PF. There are some differences in what is legal, no steel dust covers, no bull barrels on lengths over 4.2" and it has to fit in the box.

43 oz weight limit. The hardest part for me was making weight. Oh and no slide lightening.

Took most of the weight I need out of the frame under the grip panels.

Thanks for the kind words on my para. I worked hard on it.

Full length guide rod 13lb recoil spring, 1 shock buff, 17 lb main spring

    De-horned ect…..

I recently refinished the stainless by glass beading, This gun has a lot of miles on it

  12. I have a para that was built by cylinder and slide.

The only stock parts are the frame and slide which was accurailed. The slide was cut for a novak front.

I don't have any experience with a caspian but I prefer a heavy metal gun.

Lost count at 15k but no problems with the frame. I do however only shoot minor. Idpa

I would do it again if needed.

Who knows maybe it's time for me to try one of those plastic ones. :)

  13. Update shot 2000 rounds and still running good. I may try some black bbs next time as I am finding it a distraction seeing the bbs fly. I should be looking at the front site. I know this it is just a bit distracting and bad form.

  14. Does anyone else make a mag well for a Para 16-40 besides Dawson?

    S&A Smith and Alexander.

The frame needs to be cut to fit it.

I like mine and would do it again.

It will fit factory base pads too

  15. I will defintly post my findings. Good or bad

thank you to all the members here.

I'm going to take some pics of my current slide and the copy a picture of the slide I like from the Wilson site.

I have read rumors that a new rule book is comeing. Hopefully it will clear up some of the confusion.

  16. Thank you for taking the time to put forth this valuable information.

    ESP - 7. Cosmetic checkering/serrating.

This about sums it up for me.

I no longer feel like a cheat as this reasoning makes sense to me. I am not just trying to pacify myself.

I am still going to contact IDPA HQ and ask about the "carry cut" I would like to do this but I will need a clear concise answer before.

I enjoy Idpa it is a fun game and I want to play with honor.

  17. I just wish some of them were not so vauge.

If I read the rules as an extreamest, cutting my slide for diffrent sights is lightening.

If I read them loosely, as long as I don't drill holes in it I'm good.

Now obviously the rules are somewhere in between.

Just where is not so obvious to me.

I'm not complaining about the sporT I choose to play. I am merely pointing out my point of view.

It is after all enhanced service pistol. Not stock service pistol.

Also I am a gamer and I carry my gamer gun 3 seasons a year. :)

some day I hope to be a master gamer!

again sorry for typos, typing on my phone.
