  1. I'm a little bit curious about the "2011 brand" part of your question as there is only one manufacturer that mass produces a gun based on the 2011 frame (STI). Everybody else either just makes frames, or builds custom guns to order. CK Arms is the closest I've seen to a true manufacturer who is turning out ready to go guns with parts that they actually machined, that are not custom builds.

  2. 01/13/2014 - Father admitted to hospital with bad cough, phlegm and abdominal pain.

01/14/2014 - CT Scan shows a large mass on the left kidney and several nodules in the left lobe of the lung. Oncologist attached to case. Testing over the next several days planned. Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma highly likely.

01/17/2014 - Prepped for surgery and his left kidney is removed to stop flow of possible cancer cells to the lymph system.

02/08/2014 - Emergency surgery to remove gallbladder due to infection. During this week pathology from the biopsy they performed on his kidney confirmed suspicions of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma. Prescribed Nexavar, a oral small cell inhibitor.

02/19/2014 - Emergency surgery for impacted bowels.

04/02/2014 - Progress CT Scan to see how my father was responding to the treatment, no signs of improvement but tumors were not getting worse.

05/16/2014 - Emergency procedure for impacted bowels

06/02/2014 - Admitted to hospital due to not eating for a week, trouble breathing, bad cough.

06/03/2014 - CT Scan of Chest, Abdomen/Pelvis and head. Nexavar failed. Multiple tumors on the liver >1.3cm/ea. Large lung tumor in lower left lobe 5.2cm, many smaller tumors present in both lobes. Percarnial and subcarnial lymph nodes are very enlarged with central necrosis. 1.4cm mass on his brain.

06/04/2014 - Nexavar stopped, replaced with Torisel, an intravenous chemotherapy.

06/05/2014 - Oncologist tells me my father will probably live 6 months, possibly a year at absolute best. He takes the news incredibly well, in fact, better than I did. Somehow, I think he knew all along... He tells me he wants to go fishing.

I apologize for the long post but I am completely devastated. In less than six months my father went from a guy who worked out with 315lbs on the flat bench for 3 sets at 6-8 reps at a body weight of 205lbs to a bed ridden 144lbs. He taught me how to shoot, how to fish, how to camp, how to drive, how to grill a steak and how to be a good, honest man, among many other things. He is only 58 years old, this disease has come and robbed my father of so many wonderful years of his life. When he is gone there will be a void in my heart that will never be filled. I really hope the hospital lets him out so we can go fishing this upcoming Father's Day weekend.

  3. Same as before:

I spoke with rainier about their match barrels. He wouldn't say who makes the barrels and told me that they had no idea when they will be back in stock. "They will be here when they get here" He was really short with me and was a huge turnoff for me regarding that company.

Thats odd, ive dealt with Ari and Terry on many occasions and both have been great to talk to.

  4. I agree, I think 8x will be the ceiling. Past that it gets to be a little much for our game. People in the military get minute-of-a-man accuracy out to 1,000 yards with a 10x scope so 8x might even be a bit much for pinging steel at 500 yards, lol.

  5. Out of a 5" or less gun, 180gr no doubt about it. Less snap than the lighter bullets and easier to make major with.

ETA: Why are you trying to make major with a .40 in IDPA? Correct me if I'm wrong, as I very well may be since I don't shoot IDPA ever really, but AFAIK the only division that scores major PF in IDPA is CDP and you are relegated to shooting a .45 ACP in that division.

  6. I just bought the 24" three days ago and shot a 3 gun match with it on Saturday. Smoothest shotgun I have ever shot. I didn't find the 24" to be any sort of hindrance as far as swinging the gun, but I am also a big guy so YMMV.
