  1. I guess there's no reason you can't give it a whirl and see what you think, but I think you're really asking for trouble. I've been picking up once fired cases at the range and the Glock ones look damn near ready to burst in some instances. This is with once-fired, factory cop ammo.

I just have to wonder, given the small incremental cost of bulk jacketed bullets, why even screw with lead in your Glock? 40 Glocks really, truly have an issue with not handling excess pressure well. I'm a big Glock fan, but this deficiency is an undeniable fact.

In the end, I guess you just have to weigh your HMO deductible against the cost of the proper ammo, but flirt with disaster if you must.

I promise not post about this any more as this has already been beat to death a thousand times over.

We are kinda stuck using lead, because, at our club we shoot a combination of steel & paper. So, I bought a Storm Lake barrel.

  2. I am currently loading my 9's with: 4.1 grs. Unique, 125 gr. Precision FP (lead), OAL 1.13, PF about 130. Although, I haven't checked the PF recently after shortening the OAL a touch. I would like to switch from Unique to 700X just for the reason I have a good supply of 700X from my trap shooting days.

  3. Yes, I just loaded some 147g TC bullets over 2.9 grains @ 1.1" for a steel match tonight. I haven't had a chance to chrono them yet, but I'm thinking ~125pf.

I'm not a big fan of 700X, but I didn't have time to work up a load, so I just used a book load with a powder I had available. The last time I loaded 700X is was with 125 grain plated bullets and it was pretty harsh; I prefer Unique.

Currently loading 125gr. lead bullets with Unique and I like it but, I have a lot of 700X on hand that I used to use for light trap loads.

  4. What barrel length is considered best or do the trap models only come in one length, also do they have screw in chokes or fixed chokes for trap ?

I believe 30-32" is best, I prefer 32". Trap guns use screw in tubes mainly with full chokes. 34" barrels are also available but, they're a little slower to swing.

would be best. My preference is 32"
