  1. Hey guys,

I have an Accu Shadow 2, and am having a bitch of a time figuring out how to remove the Accu bushing so that I can do a barrel cleaning. Can anyone reply with a link to a how to video (can't find one for the Accu Shadow 2, or any other CZ with the newer Accu bushing), or walk me through with some step-by-step instructions? Thank you.

Check out the end of this thread. Should give you what you need.

  2.

I believe the milling is considered internal to the slide so it’s OK. The new rules actually call out the installation of bushings as legal explicitly.

  3. Doesn't the Accu bushing require milling/modification to the slide? Or am I misunderstanding that?
A bushing upgrade/replacement (eg, CGW) would be allowed under 21.6.
However, a modification to the slide to make that change would be prohibited under
21.1 "INTERNAL    modifications    that    do    NOT    conflict    with    other    clauses    of    this    appendix,    are    ALLOWED."
And 21.2b "A slide    may    be    modified    specifically    for    installing    sights,    and    for    no
    other    purpose."

  4. My conversations with Troy.

If you take a 91254, 91255, 91256 or 91257, do a trigger job, do short reset, change sights and have the ACCU bushing installed. that is considered work allowed under the production rules and is legal.

However Shadow 2 ACCU SKU 91763 ( and  96214  )  would not be legal under production rules because it is considered a new model.

That’s ridiculous and runs counter to the spirit and stated rationale of the recent rule changes.

  5. I’ve been informed by both my Area Director and Section Coordinator that the new Accu Shadow is considered legal.

  6. Edit: It is the same thread with Troy's response I am thinking about. Were you concerned about the Area 8 Sectional/Championship?

Not sure who you are asking but no I’m not concerned. Though I have a S2 Accu, I’ll be using my standard S2 until things get more definitively resolved. Definitely need to get this Gun on the list though because it’s stellar.

    My bad.

Supposedly the USPSA powers that be have production gun rules near the top of the agenda, not sure what if anything will change. I thought the plan had been to have that discussion this month.

I hope not. Production rules are fine.

  8. I wish it was clear. I'd buy this gun right away... It's time to add it to the list officially.

Agree. Getting it on the list is the way forward.

The problem is it can’t be added until people buy it. 2000 people to be exact.

  10. What area are you in?

    8

The word I got was from a section coordinator and the logic provided seems legit to me. Not that it matters but also received opinions from a few GM’s on the matter. Even though there’s an email (referenced in this post) from the NROI, it hasn’t been stated as an official ruling. Soooo...am thinking it’s wise to wait on the matter until she’s on the list. Here we go 2000 sales!

The natives seem to be getting restless on this whole email-from-NROI thing.

  11. Interesting that allowed in other areas and at nationals, yet not in your area.

Not sure that’s true. Are you definitively aware of a major where one was used?

  12. Looks like it’s a big fat no in my area as far as being Production legal. 21.2b is what’s being cited. Looks like those 2000 sales will be needed after all.

That is, a loss of focus during stage execution resulting in a Mike due to say coming of a target early or pulling the trigger before gaining an acceptable sight picture

You've accurately described the reason or the source of the mysterious Mike. Shoot some stages where you consciously back down 5 - 10% off the pace that you'd typically shoot at. The goal being - there is never a moment that you are not fully aware of what you are aware of. Just calmly cruising along... Seeing everything you need to see to call each shot.

The next time you have a mysterious Mike, search your memory for the stage and see if you can find a "blank spot" - just a brief moment when there was not a sense of certainty about what you did or did not see.

Yes. I definitely experience “ blank spots”. Will certainly be experimenting with your suggestions. Thanks again.

Wow!!! This is gold. I believe I have also heard this described as match mode as well. Everything just sounds cooler coming from Brain.

Take this one to the bank people!

Going to go dig out my worn copy of Practical Shooting: Beyond Fundamentals, right now.

  15. Train this in practice until it becomes an automatic skill.

First, to define the goal. Keep your eyes or focus moving - you only pause long enough to - see what you need to see for every shot to know you hit the target without seeing the hit (or hearing the ding). Visually, you don't care about anything else.

Think of what you are doing visually as shifting points or areas of focus. Say you are shooting two shots on each of four targets placed between 7 and 25 yards.

At the buzzer you are looking right at the A-box perfs on the first target. During the draw your focus is coming back to pick up the sight alignment. After the second shot fired and you know it was in the center of the target, immediately shift your focus to the next target's A-box perfs. Maintain that focus until you peripherally see the sights coming into that area - transfer that focus from the target to the sights and keep it there until the second shot fires. Repeat that process for every target. If the target is too far to see the perfs, your target focus becomes looking right at the center of the target.

To sum up, there is never a moment when you are not consciously directing your focus from one specific area to the next specific area. That has to become a shooting way of life.

Awesome post Brian. Thank you. I wonder, would this be something that would help correct the mysterious mike? I have a tendency to experience surprise mikes during a match. Im in the hunt in other areas like raw time and accuracy - excluding the mikes of course but the mikes drop me down quite a bit in the standings. I’ve been exploring the Steve Anderson match mode concept in dry fire where he suggests you simply work to maintain your focus on an array at normal match pace over increasing periods of time and am wondering if these two approaches are getting at the problem in different ways? That is, a loss of focus during stage execution resulting in a Mike due to say coming of a target early or pulling the trigger before gaining an acceptable sight picture. Interested in your thoughts as it’s been an illusive problem.

  16. OK.  Mystery solved.  After much frustration I've learned that yes, indeed, the RH detent is the same part; however, the RH safety itself is not identical to the Shadow 1.  After trying the RH safety that came with the extended safety on my Shadow 2, I saw that it is in fact a thicker part.  The RH safety of the Shadow 2 reaches deeper inside the frame when compared to the Shadow 1's RH safety.  Once I used the RH safety that came with the gun things went back together as expected.

Learn something new every day!  Thanks for the help yigal.

  17. Tried it.  No joy.  This part clearly doesn't fit.  It seems like either:

A - the tapered down part that is designed to slip into the groove of the RH safety is too thick

B - The overall part is thicker than spec.

I believe A is the issue here because when I look close I can see that the part is directly butting against the safety preventing it from rotating.

Any advise is appreciated.  I'll be calling CZ custom in the morning if I am unable to resolve.

  18. 6 minutes ago, yigal said:

    it's the same part.

look if it has small burrs on the end of it .

remove burrs with  sand paper only. and lube it

be careful not remove material. only burrs.

OK.  After looking I do indeed see (thanks to my magnification visor) some burrs.  I'll take a crack at light sanding.  What do you recommend?  400grit?  800?

  19. I should also mention this is on a Shadow 2.  When I ordered from CGW, I spoke with someone and they gave me a part number for ordering.  When I look on their website the part is in their Shadow 2 section but is listed as a TS part.  Think it matters?

  20. Anyone ever have trouble with the RH safety detent not fitting?  I am able to slip the detent into its normal position, but when I try to rotate the RH safety so the detent slips into the groove on the safety, I can't get the safety to rotate.  This detent was ordered from Cajun Gun Works, is it possible the thin part of the detent isn't thin enough?  Or am I missing something subtle?  Any tips/tricks to getting these two parts to fit?

  21. Sorry gents for the slow reply.  Been away a bit.  Rowdy, regarding pinching, its still happening to me but what I've decided is to finish this season using my S1 and begin the transition into my S2 over the offseason.  This would include the experimentation with the S2 mag release paddle.  bsand, I'll keep your offer in mind as I go through the transition process described above.  Thanks to both for your input on the topic.
