[Shortening the Mossberg 930 SPX's LOP]

I enjoy shooting the 930SPX a lot, but I think the LOP is too long for me. I'd like to shorten the Stock LOP. I can shorten the recoil tube length a little and then shorten the stock, perhaps even use a recoil plate instead of the recoil pad. However I'm hesitant unless I can hear other opinions or examples of what you did. Any help would be appreciated.

When you guys talk about the "new" vs "old" Smith's, what is the cutoff point of differentiation? So far I only have 1 Model 60 with the frame mounted FP, no lock. The rest are the hammer mounted firng pin. I still plan to get more Smiths though.

[250gr 45ACP with Titegroup?]

I have a lot of 250 gr RNFP (45Colt) bullets and I'd like to try this in my SW625 only. I have a lot of Titegroup also. Any suggestions for a good load?

Appreciate all the good advice. Redmist, the difference between the 2 is $100, $400 for the stock newer version <1000 and $500 for the 1989/unknown action job one ( may be >1000 rds.)

To complicate matters now. Another fellow has a 5 in 625 with and action job, older version (model of 1989) hammer mounted firing pin and Ahrend grips. for $500. We don't know who did the action job and does the version make that much of a difference?

Hi all,

I will be looking at a 625. It has the 5in barrel, transfer bar and no internal lock. According to the owner he has about 1000 rds through it and it is stock otherwise. Is $400 an ok price if the condition and lock up are all tight? He will let me shoot it first also for accuracy.

I use teflon tape from the plumbing supply. It keeps the screws snug.

How stable is the gorillarack bench? I have 2 of their shelving units and I like them so far. Does the bench have any tendency to wiggle?

I have tendinitis in my right elbow and so it hurts after shooting. I use my left arm to manipulate the lever on my SDB. Sometimes I alternate my right and left arm. On the 550 or 650, you're pretty much stuck with using the right arm (I asked Dillon). Something to consider if you have arthritis. Also, use One -Shot to lubricate your brass! (thanks, BENOS).

Titegroup in .38 special and .357 magnum

I'd like to ask for experiences using Titegroup in .38special and .357magnum using 158 grain SWC, lead or plated bullets. My goal is not Hot loads but perhaps light target to medium loads. Why titegroup? Well, I just bought 8lbs of that stuff for 9mm and .45ACP and I like it a lot. It meters very well out of my SDB and each complete turn of the powder adjustment nut is about 1 grain, so it is easy to change between 3.4 to 4.5 grains for 9mm and .45 ACP respectively.
