The industry and competitors have had discussions on holding events just like this throughout the years but the issue always came up on how to balance the scoring. There have been similar events on a smaller scale across the country, all had the same problems. How do you recognize the difficulty of precision (bullseye, hi-power, etc) with a speed sport? I'm still scratching my head....
The staff at Peacemaker and Trijicon did a great job. Most importantly is that they are asking all the right questions so that they can improve the event.
and for the record, nobody wanted the bullseye stage to stay more than me.

Having it back to back is not easy for me. It's going to be tough for me to get off work that long for the worlds and the cup. I certainly want to do both but darn..... work has a way of getting in the way of all our fun.

I think mine was one of the first done by C-Rums. CAUTION: this is not a Bennelli and some of the materials are not the same. Some metals don't bend... they just snap. I know this first hand. Welding the lifter helps with the thumb bite but I needed to put a little channel on the inside where the shell is raised. I've shared the photos with Jeff at C-Rums so I think he's modified his process since then.
Be careful cutting coils off the mag spring or any other spring. I haven't touched my springs and all runs well. The shell catch has a sharp edge to it so hitting that "just a little" with a sanding wheel helps the feel dramatically.
Another note of caution.. there is no need to lighten the bolt on a Versamax, in fact this will cause more problems. The bolt velocity on a Versamax is way higher than any B - gun.

My comp comes off every time I clean it. I clean it for every match. I shoot a match, then at least one practice session. 200 - 300 rounds in total I would guess on an average. The crown is vitally important to accuracy.
I would bet that this is your problem however there are other things that can cause tumbling:
1. Really cheap bullets
2. bullet twist wrong for bullets. (your gun is fine with 55's)
3 Most common cause of tumbling bullets.... something touching the bullet in flight.

I've been running a VersaMax since they came out and I have not had that problem.
I shoot Remington STS or my own reloads with International Clays, which is very clean.
Not sure what's up. I would guess it's the ammo.

Because it was very sunny this year and the trees are growing around that range, the shredded tires were in the shade and made it look very black. Naturally, the black iron sights were lost in the black background.
Exactly. What do you propose for a solution for next year, Bruce? I'm thinking green.
I brought it up with the President of Green Valley R&P and the NRA Staff. They are looking into painting the background.. Anything but black.
For the past 20 years in Open Division and ever since they allowed us to shoot both guns, I've never missed a plate. When the sun is on the backstop, it looks grey and isn't too bad. But when it's sunny and between 11am and 1pm, the background is in the shade of the trees and it turns BLACK. I painted my entire front sight red but visually lost my rear sight.

the 11 thru the 15 is too many days. That's Weds. thru Sunday. We normally shoot Fri Sat and Sunday with the staff shooting on Thursday.
Anyone know the details? I'd like to make travel arrangements. Fly in on Thursday, I hope.

I run my brass thru a Dillon full length die and trim it to length on each reloading, pretty much have to when loading for an AR-10.

What he means by oversize is how you have your sizing die set. If you have the die too far down, then the brass is oversized and the shoulder is too far down. Even with a safe load, the primers will look FLAT and sometimes even blow out of the case when fired. Imagine a short case in the chamber when it fires. The case goes forward as the primer actually moves out of the case. At full pressure then the case is shoved back against the boltface, flattening the primer. If the case is sized just enough to fit in the chamber, then the primer cannot back out of the case. You should only screw your sizing die down until it just fits flush with a case guage. Better yet, RCBS sells a case guage that works like a micrometer. You can precisely set the sizing die to just a couple of thousands under your chambers dimension.

October 2010 I tore a ligament off my thumb, tore bicep tendon, torn rotator cuff, torn labrum. Thumb was operated on immediately and shoulder was done in March 2011. While the doctor was in the shoulder, he ground down a bone impingement spurr at the same time. Between the surgeries, rehab PT, and the pain pills I was out of shooting for a Looooonnnngggg time. I can confirm that you will not like your physical therapist. I'm still not 100% and may never be. My advise is take your time and be careful.

My 6" Caspian 1911 slide has an 0.072 rear and a 0.095 front... all black - no fiber optic.
I tried a wide set and didn't like them at all. My eye keeps checking each side of the front sight and the wider the sight, the further I have to move my focus.
I've settled on the narrow set.

I've been playing with it and am seriously considering using it for USPSA nationals. USPSA Major is not caliber specific as the AMU used the 300 Gremlin last year.
It will make major. I got 175's at 1885 out of a 16" gun.
30 round mags / 48 round mags / I haven't tried the Beta Mag yet but whispers do fit and function.
trajectory arc works out pretty good with my Burris 1.5 x 6 XTR reticle. Once past 175 yards, each reticle line is 50 yard increments.
As far as the wind issue, according to my Sierra ballistic program, the 175 gr. at 1900 fps is within an inch of my current 3gun .223 load of 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings at 3100 fps, so the wind argument is null.
I'm still working on it, having fun in the process and will keep you informed.

In your other post you stated that you mailed it to 305 E. Nifong and the address is 503 E. Nifong on the app.
My Bad.... I did put 305. Hard to believe the postal carrier couldn't figure that out, especially when I had the PO Box on it also.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen a shotgun squib? I would imagine you could just pour out the shot?
yes... Just as dangerous.
A primer will unfold the crimp, send the shot 10 - 15 yards downrange BUT LEAVE THE WAD STUCK IN THE BARREL.
Manually cycling the action and pulling the trigger will ruin your day.

Not to put down any shooter, especially anyone that has done as well as Nils, however my comment on making penalties more costly comes from and in conjuction with the scoring system used is some 3 gun matches which is two hits anywhere is a neutralized target (no penalty). Without heavier penalties, we're almost condoning and encouraging "poor shooting".
I guess I'm just "old school" where a "miss" was thought of as REAL BAD... not so today.
It's all still fun and that's what the game is all about.
Bianchi Format Change

I too just finished reading through the thread. I can only speculate on the reason for the changes as being a more exciting finish for filming. When I first heard of this change, I was not in favor of it and made the suggestion that the same results could be obtained by awarding the Bianchi Cup to the Aggregate Winner. Shooting both division shows who has mastered the sport as a whole and after all, this is how it is done in NRA PPC and NRA Bullseye. This would keep ALL sponsors, OPEN, Metallic, and Production specific fully involved and invested in the presentation of the Bianchi Cup. Apparently, that suggestion wasn't well received.
I love shooting in general so I'll go along with whatever format they throw at us. They have to consider how they are going to assign the Top 16 when some of those Top 16 are going to be in other qualifying Divisions (Senior, Ladies, Juniors, Metallic, Production). Are they going to be considered Top 16 and bring up the next 4 from the other division or pull all sub-categories out of the Top 16 results and pull the qualifying people from that list?
