  1. Hey Everybody,

I joined up a long time ago, but just recently thinking about getting into shooting sports. I dabbled in some IDEA type stuff years and years ago. Now I am living in the Phoenix area and looking for a place to start.

I have been a .45 guy for a long time and am wondering if I can keep using them. Really I am not looking to win any competitions I just want to have fun and get some practice in.

    Any thoughts?

  2. I know a cheap bastard who extended the tube another 2 1/2 feet up with a piece of copper pipe. That allowed him to triple the number of shells it would hold before he had to refill the tube.

    Don

Actually I bought a bunch of clear 5' tubes with the same dimensions as the stock tube. It holds about 70 .45 shells. I have 5 of them so I kind of use them like gun magazines. Load all of 'em up then then just replace them when one is empty. Cheap bastard? Yes. I bought the press w/o a casefeeder on craigslist but it was brand new. I hope to afford the feeder some day, but it gets the job done for now.

    Just go for it.

  3. Hopefully you or someone like you will start to mass produce something like this with some cast plastic parts that will be cost effective. Hope you make a million bucks! The primer loading operation is the one big time sink that holds up the reloading process.

Yeah! I know, we can call it the... Vibraprime!!! :roflol:

Does/did the Vibrprime only cost about $10?

  4. My attorney advised me strongly against using ammo I loaded in my self defense guns. He said that this would be used against me in court, with obvious statements that I loaded them with intention to kill the scumbag. So buy factory self defense ammo.

I wonder if that's ever really been used against a lawful person in court. We've all heard it forever but why would it really matter? I think it's more likely just something someone made up and everyone else just repeats it.

Kinda like no swimming for an hour after eating.

Not busting on you Coco, just thinking out loud.

Well sometimes old wives tales are true. I had a friend drown in a lake soon after he ate lunch because he cramped up. So take that for what's it's worth.

As far as the original question, I would say yes that it might be a "good shoot" by law enforcement, but you have to consider the civil action that WILL be taken against you by the perp's family, ACLU, NAACP, Whatever Group Dislikes you.... It is that situation that you would need to be concerned with.

Remember, in a civil trial you must testify... there is no "I plead the 5th".

You can do what you want, but I would stay away from it. I also think that that is the reason why there are no specs on reloading components released by the companies. I am sure they do not want the liability of having a lawsuit brought against them.

  5. I know it's late, but I am in the process of building one myself. I just found some 1" thick playwood at homedepot. It's used for flooring, but I am planning on doubling that up and using some 4x4 posts for legs. I'm hoping that will work well. Cost of everything should be about $50-$60.
