  1. If you would like to know how many rounds of brass you have lying around, as I did, you can use the information below. If anyone wants to count them out to see how close my calculations are let me know what you find out.

    9mm, 59.46gr/ea, 117.7cases/#, 8.5#/1000

    38spl, 68.06gr/ea, 102.8cases/#, 9.7#/1000

    40s&w, 70.1gr/ea, 99.9cases/#, 10#/1000

    .357mag, 78.3gr/ea, 89.4cases/#, 11.2#/1000

    .45acp, 89.58gr/ea, 78.1cases/#, 12.8#/1000

    .223, 95.28gr/ea , 73.5cases/#, 13.6#/1000

    .44mag, 114.38gr/ea, 61.2cases/#, 16.3#/1000

    50bmg, 865.26gr/ea, 8.1cases/#, 123.5#/1000

All weights are uncleaned fired cases with the primer remaining.

Individual case weights were derived using an average of mixed brass weights (except 50bmg)

    So, if you picked up 8#s of 45 brass: 8# X 78.1cases/# = 625 cases+/-

If you use 1gal ziploc freezer bags to store your brass, each (full) bag contains:

    9mm, 15.6#, 1836cases

    40s&w, 12.2#, 1219cases

    45acp, 11.4#, 890cases

    223, 11#, 809cases

If you use 5gal buckets each full one will have

    9MM = 8500-9000 pieces

    .40 S&W = 7000-7500 pieces

    .45 ACP = 3800-4000 pieces

    a few more

    CASES per POUND:

    .380: 145

    .357 Sig: 96

    .45 GAP: 86

    .32: 168

    10mm: 96

    FN 5.7: 124

    .25 acp: 260

    .30 Luger: 120

    .38 S&W: 120

    .38 Super: 104

    9mm MAK: 124

    .45 Colt: 60

    .30-M1: 100

    .308: 40

    .30-06: 35

    7.62x39: 54

    .50 AE: 48

    .30-30: 52

What? No 5.56?? Under 'cases by pound'

  2. Hello I'm Gregory and I bleed Dillon Blue! I live in Alliance, NE and work for the BNSF Railway, I really like to reload and I just bought a Super 1050 so now I'll be able to knock out those 17,000 rnds of 5.56mm I have to get loadedbiggrin.gif

  3. How much do you want for it? Have you tried calling Dillon while at the machine? They really helped me get rid of the same feeling I had about mine. Each one has its own quirks and you kind of have to work through it to find them out.

Of this I am sure. They're closed today. I will try on monday, I have a Super 1050 comming in a week set up in .223 Rem I hope it works out of the box 'cause I got 12,000 rds to load up! :goof:

  4. Where do you live? Probably someone here who lives near you who could be talked into coming by your place and giving you an inservice on the machine.

I live in Alliance, NE. I know that Dillon make quality machines, This one was set up for .45ACP came with a xtra toolhead and powder measure in .38ACP, I changed the primer parts and swage rod from large to small and put my 9mm dies in and finally finished 300 rounds

  5. Hi, I got this RL 1050 used but I've had nothing but trouble with it :angry2: and I want to get RID of it. The primer system sucks, half the time the cases have no primer in them and the machine keeps jamming all the time. The problem seems to be in the primer system as sometimes it won't feed a primer or it will and cause a jam that I then have to teardown the toolhead to clear it. I can load faster with my single stage. in 8 hours i was only able to load about 200 rounds of 9mm. I have looked at the troubleshooting guide and been all thru this website and am at the end of my rope.

I have read the manuel and looked at lots of pictures, Maybe i'm stupid :surprise: but i can't get this thing to work. When I had it running it's GREAT but then it messes up and i have to stop to clear the jam every few rounds. I'm in Alliance, NE if I can't sell this thing you might be lucky and find it in the trashcan outside......

P.S. thx in advance for any opinons, help, comments, ect, ect.

  6. How BIG is BIG?? Me thinks I need one of those little cement mixers so's I can clean 100 pounds of brass at a time!

I also use the BIG Dillon vibatory cleaner got it used for a song best money i ever spent

  7. Hey! I'm Greg and I'm new here. I have a question and I need some opinons, I own a RL 1050 that I got used for a screaming deal but I found out that the largest rifle round I can load is 5.56 :( ! It came with 2 sets of dillon dies, .45ACP and 38 Super, 2 cal. conversions .45ACP and 38 Super 1 xtra toolhead with powder measure. I was going to sell it and replace it with a XL650 from Brians store but now I have 5000 rds + or - coming in of 556 and I'm thinking I might just keep it and use it for just that one caliber and run all the other stuff on the 650 waddya think?
