I have done a lot of gun testing for various gun magazines over the last 30 years and the Federal American Eagle 147 FMJ load has proven to be the most consistently accurate  load in every 9mm I have tested it from. If it's not "The Most Accurate" it will always be among the top 2 or 3.

Similar experience here over the last several years.

I used to use the Howard Leight Impact Sport muffs. They're great for the price, but they give me a headache after wearing them for a couple hours, especially with eye pro.

I splurged and got a set of MSA Sordin's with the gel cups and I love them. They're pricey, but I can wear them all day with no problems.

    Similar experience here.

  3. I've been using the Harbor Freight welding cart for several years now. I typically haul it in the bed of a pickup truck but when hauling it in the trunk of a car, I pull off the handle and wheels.

I replaced the nuts that hold the handle with wing nuts so no tools are needed. I replaced the cotter pins that hold on the wheels with some pins I picked up from Home Depot. They look just like the pins used in Dillon primer tubes, only larger.

Dewalt makes a heavy duty plastic tool box that fits nicely into the cart. Two of those stacked on top of each other will hold a lot of gear. If its mid-summer, instead of the Dewalt tool boxes I place a small ice chest in the cart with a shooter's bag on top. To help hold everything together, I made a rail out of 1x2 wood bolted to the frame. Bungee cords also help.

I also added ATV gun racks so I can use it for 3 gunning.

One local range had rough terrain between stages and the big wheels made it easier to move gear than my Rugged Gear cart.

I have the same cart set up in a similar fashion for 3 gun except that I use a larger MTM dry box that sits on the bottom shelf. Wing nuts, washers and longer bolts (with some spares) solved the handle issue.

  4. My load for now is 3.1gr TG with the 147s seated to 1.165" and it gives me ~130 PF. 3.2grs gets me to 135 PF out of my 2011.

Just talked to commercial loader here in Michigan, I have a pound of WSF that I am going to try out and see how it does. Doubt I will switch this year as im sitting on about 12lbs of Titegroup which will last this season.

I've had consistent accuracy using WSF with 147gr bullets.

  5. If anyone is tired of or bored with either USPSA or IDPA there is always NRA Bullseye !!!

I had a great deal of fun, and learned much, shooting informal bullseye when I got started 30+ years ago. If I didn't enjoy shooting with those men and women, I didn't have to go. The same principle applies today with IDPA and USPSA activities. It's the people I get to shoot with more than the rules of the game that brings me back. If/when that formula changes, I suspect that other ways to spend my free time will become more apparent.

  6. I tried shooting some with my normal 'computer' glasses and it seemed to work well. I was switching between them and safety classes when not actually shooting and on one stage I forgot to switch back and I actually feel like I shot better with out prescription correction so for now, at least, I'm leaving the prescription glasses in the case at the range.

My shooting glasses Rx insert has a "computer" Rx, and it has worked much better than my progressive bifocals for IDPA/USPSA shooting.

  7. Turns out my eye insurance company was giving my eye doc a hard time about me getting safety glasses so I cancelled the order. I've tried shooting for the last couple of range sessions with my computer glasses and they seem to work pretty well. The only problem is they don't offer nearly the coverage the safety glasses would have. Looks like I'll be hunting for some other glasses that have inserts I can try.

I have been using ESS glasses with the Rx insert for the last couple of years in IDPA and USPSA. My Rx was described as one for computers. The front sight is clear at arms length and I still have the reading Rx. Targets at 50+ yards are more challenging when shooting 3-gun because the targets are a little blurry. It's a work in progress.

  8. I run the "pro grade" Ready Tactical kydex AR mag pouch. The only difference on the pro grade is that the belt loop is closed. I really like how little belt space it takes up on my belt and it works with both USGI and pmags. Add in a sub-$30 price point and I think it's a good option.

+1 for the Ready Tactical AR pouch. Pretty good bang for the buck.
