About 7-8 years ago I was shooting some steel and some jacket came back and hit me under my eye. In our world, this isn't too abnormal. It broke the skin, and I was able to remove the piece of fragment. When I got home, I took a closer look and it seemed like there might have still been something left in the wound, but I couldn't get it out. I figured it would work itself out over time.
The wound appeared to heal, but there was always a little discolored little bump; like Blue'ish green.
Years go by and this little bump where the injury happened begins to get larger and larger (about 1cm x 1.5cm). I mentioned it to my doctor at a routine check-up and she wasn't quite sure what it was. I was referred to a dermatologist and she thought it could be a cyst, but couldn't quite know for sure. My doctor nor the dermatologist would cut it open since it was on my face, so I was referred to a plastic surgeon.
Yesterday, the Plastic Surgeon cut it open and she was surprised. She said it was just filled with black liquid, which she explained our body doesn't produce any sort of black liquid. I explained my theory that it could be from the left over copper fragments. My theory seemed to make sense to her, though she's never seen anything like this before. She said that she couldn't find anything that was metallic under the skin, but if it came back, they could do ultrasound or something else to see what might be there.
I was curious if anyone else here has ever had anything similar? I figured of all the communities, this would be the most likely where this has happened to someone else.

There is a new version in development (CS7.1) that has a much shorter drop tube to correct that error, up date in the comparator to sense when brass has cleared, auto homing and a few more updates.

I've tried to get into Scotch, but just couldn't. It has a strange medicinal taste for me.
However, I've drank a lot of Bourbon, Rye, and American Whisky over the past few years (maybe too much). My most favorite has been either Weller 12 year or George T Stagg. Those are both very difficult to get, but as for something that's obtainable and priced very low, I have to say the Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch was surprisingly good! And so is the Jack Daniels Single Barrel Select Rye.

@X5SigChris, yes, I've been pleasantly surprised with brass juice. When I used to shoot PRS, some guys turned me on to it. What I like about it is that it's simple, it's quick, it's idiot proof, and it's not harsh on the brass.
I tried some of the Brass Juice brand case lube, but it's stickier than I'd prefer for loading on a progressive, so I just stick to Hornady One-Shot.

I've been shooting an Atlas Titan in 40 cal for USPSA Limited Division.
I carry a Glock 43 with a +2 Taran Tactical Mag extension. It's small enough to carry easily, and with the mag extension, I can still get all my fingers on the grip to shoot confidently. I figure in a real world situation, if I have to give up my pistol to LE after a shooting, I'd much rather lose a cheap glock than something crazy expensive/nice.

I wet tumble and used to use the Dawn and Lemi Shine combo. I couldn't always get the mix quite right, or maybe it was the timing, so sometimes the brass would turn out super clean, sometimes it would look like nickel, and other times it would come out pink.
I then switched to using Brass Juice in the Wet Tumbler, and it has provided very consistent results. You can buy a big jug at a reasonable price that will last a long time. For brass that isn't too dirty, I don't use the SS media. If the brass is stupid dirty, I use the SS media. This is what I use for 40 cal and 9mm.
For precision rifle, I stuck to walnut and Nufinish, as the necks seemed to get "too clean", and seemed to create some inconsistency for seating projectiles.

I was in a similar predicament recently and went with the Shadow 2 Optic Ready. No regrets. I mounted an SRO and it points very naturally and has stayed attached with no issues. As someone who shot a Glock 35 in limited several years ago, I gotta say that I'm a big fan of the Shadow 2.

I started with a Red Hill Tactical but then later got a GX Products holster and really liked it a lot. If you don't mind the wait, I think the GX Products holster is hard to beat.

Wow! That's incredible! Hearing stories like this certainly make me want to continue to purchase from them.
All of my experiences have been top notch with SC. I recently placed an order, but then the next day (over the weekend) needed to add something else to it. I just placed another order, added a note to that order asking if they could combine it with my previous one, and they responded early the next morning basically saying it was done, and shipping adjusted. So quick and so professional.

You need to look back a few posts, I was definitely here talking about Sao carryops before you lol. Glad to see another gun come out to bolster the new division, or modification to a current division that is coming. Just a quick count in my head has at least eight factory guns now that would be excellent for the division. I'm sure I can come up with some more, and that's not even counting custom rigs....
I thought I remembered seeing this as being available in 40 as well early on, as I was considering that direction for a limited gun. Either way, it's exciting to see even the 9mm coming to life.
I just decided to give CO a try and have a Shadow II and SRO on the way... I'm starting to wonder now if I should have waited to see if SAO CO is going to happen... If gun manufactures truly do have anything to do with driving USPSA divisions, I'm certainly starting to wonder how soon we'll see SAO CO.

I saw massive differences comparing a Walther PPQ to a Glock. In that case, I learned that the Walther PPQ had a stepped chamber, and I attributed the velocity difference to that. In my situation, to keep things simple between guns, I just ran the same load for both guns as it was.
In the precision rifle game, we've definitely seen "Fast" barrels and "Slow" barrels come from the same barrel maker, cut with the same reamer, same length, same twist rate, etc.

This is all really good advice and good things to know! I'm just getting equipment setup for CO (coming from limited) and I was wondering these same exact things. Just keeping the dot on during the entire match definitely makes a lot of sense.

For a Level 2, 1 day match without staff reset, 12 stages would be my max. I've never shot a full staff reset match, though it does sound amazing.
However, as others have mentioned, I think a lot of it also depends on the down-time between stages, which I think can be directly correlated back to stage reset complexity. If there is a bunch of steel, disappearing targets, swingers, activators, etc. that also need to be reset, then this obviously creates a lot more down-time. Weather and available amenities is a factor too.
Though Area 3 this year was obviously not a 1 day match, most of the stage reset complexity and round counts were very ideal to keep things moving along promptly.

Most of this year, I ran:
180gr Blue Bullets
4.7gr of N320,
1.185 OAL
WIN brass
CCI 500 primers
This load was shot in an Atlas Titan, and averaged 952fps with an Extreme Spread of 15fps. I was loading at 1.20 OAL, and shortening the OAL helped with velocity consistency and boosted my velocity as well.
I also tried some Alliant American Select, and 4.7gr - 4.8gr gave me 955fps with 23fps Extreme spread, and 1.20 OAL. This is kind of a flaky powder, so it didn't meter that great, but it worked well enough.
Last year, I shot quite a bit of the E3 powder and really enjoyed it. It became pretty challenging to get a hold of, so I switched. However, when I was using E3, I used 4.3gr at an OAL of 1.2 and it produced 948fps.

That sounds good. Thank you for your insight! I just like the way the G10 grips look anyways. Either way, I should get to see for myself sometime this week.
And you're definitely right. In this game, replacing grips once a year might be about the smallest expense one could incur.

We shot this one back in August, and it did show up as a Classifier for me last week. I don't quite remember how I shot it the stage unfortunately and forgot to record it. My time was 8.93 seconds, with 71 points, and a HF of 7.9507. Shooting Limited Major.

Thanks for the info! I had heard some say that the G10 can kinda wear down, but good to hear that you've not experienced that yet. And I do agree that you can get your gun "too heavy", and slow down your draw and transitions at a certain point. Going from my Titan to a Glock for example, it feels like I'm moving a feather around by comparison to one another.

I'm new to the CZ Platform (coming from an Atlas Titan) and I just ordered a set of the LOK G10 Bogie Palm Swells. I figured this would be one of the most aggressive, but it sounds like the Brass might actually be the way to go?! Plus with a bonus of some additional weight.

I'm also a fan of the dropped Offset style. I've enjoyed how much you can adjust the T-1000 Holster Hanger from Henning, coupled with a GX Products holster with the retention clamp. I previously had good luck with a cheaper BOSS Holster Hanger from Ben Stoeger Pro-Shop. I just ordered the DAA MAX holster setup, which includes their adjustable hanger, so we'll see how that goes.
I recently started using the Henning T-900 Magnetic mag pouch, and I like it a lot just due to how well it stays in place. It doesn't feel like a traditional magnetic mag pouch to me, but feels pretty slick. Otherwise, I've stuck to the Ghost Mag pouches.

I had just finished up the section in Brian's book a couple of weeks ago where he writes about the awareness exercises that were just mentioned earlier. I tried them and I also learned a lot. I've been shooting USPSA off and on for about 2 years now, and I realized that my grip really isn't as neutral as I thought it was. Doing these awareness exercises really proved that I was gripping too much with my right hand, and also at a weird angle; I've been working on these awareness exercises continually.
When I look at my targets after shooting several rounds, I notice all my pasters are in the upper left most area, and I know I'm not using too much finger. However, I noticed that my thumbs were resting on the frame, nearly pushing against it. These exercises pointed this out, and now my groups are straightening out since I've changed my grip.
Also, these exercises prompted me to change the angle of my holster. Now when I draw, I'm right on the money almost every time. It's incredible how much a few degrees on a holster can make a difference, and how far a little awareness goes.

If the ammo was reloaded, that could also be the problem. My rifle will double (or more) if the primers are not fully seated. If you reloaded military brass without fully dealing with the crimp you may have had some primers high enough to get some slam fire action. Or not, something to check.
I can contest to this. I believe this is the problem I've been having as of late since reloading for .223. Kind of crazy stuff.

Thanks for everyone's input and experiences! I really appreciate it! It sounds like it was probably that copper jacket/metal fragment, as our experiences all sound very similar. I'll have to be a little more diligent/thorough next time the steel shoots back like that.
