  1. Don put a couple $1,000 discount certificates on the table at Battle in the Bluegrass 2015.

I was fortunate enough to get one of those.

I sure appreciate him supporting that match, I just stopped by his shop Saturday to order my build.

I got to handle several examples of his work. All of them felt great and looked great, I can't wait to get mine and put some rounds through it.

Get on the build list now....

  2. if you don't want to spend that much money, you don't have to. I've owned/shot some CZ owned Dan Wesson 1911s and a valor is about the only gun i regret selling. it was fit and finished at least as nice as an Ed Brown, if not better. They make nice stuff, but like anything, you gotta pay if you want fancy.

I would imagine a good shooter with practice could do darn near as well with a 2011/CZ/ or tuned M&P/Glock. But i LIKE the fancy stuff, so I pay for it. Same reason I could be driving a 2001 Kia. But I don't ;)

Ding Ding Ding on that practice point.

Me and my ratty looking 6 inch Eagle beat guys classed higher than me shooting full customs pretty often.

But, I find myself being drawn more toward Production these days so I can shoot a little more affordably on the ammo side.

  3. Let me offer sum advise, their are people that use words like that all the time, weather or knot ewe agree with how they use there words, ewe should support and love them irregardless.

Seriously, I know what you mean, it is really annoying.

  4. This is why, I'm moving more and more toward production, and picking up some IDPA....I understand market demands and if you have the money and the suppliers can get the prices, good for each of them, but this could be a market limiting factor.

I REFUSE to pay that kind of money... I make a pretty good living, but I can't see going well over $5K into a Limited gun by the time you get mags and such.

The prices of used guns have skyrocketed as well. Again, I get it, supply and demand. I have a feeling, I've already bought my last Limited gun (lightly customized 6 inch Eagle) and I'll never get a chance to get back into open....you gotta pay if you want to play, however, there are a hell of a lot of other things I want to play and if I drop all my money on equipment, then I don't get to play this game nor any other.

So, I will officially be driven out of Limited someday,,,,if anytyhing ever happens to that gun and I can affordably/safely repair it, I may be "out".

So, it is more Production, SS (with factory guns), SSP, and ESP....

  5. Simple, calculate it with the standard set for each class.

If GM is top 5 percent, the bottom score at that top 5 percent becomes hhf.

That should create a sliding scale that should align with the rest of the classification system.

Also, I know there is no way in the world this would happen, but for years I have said there should be downward mobility in the classification system as well. Sandbaggers are going to game the system anyway, but why not encourage some consistency in shooting?

Now, you can 'hero or zero' classifiers with no penalty, so there is no risk to trying to grandbag, completely blow a classifier,,,,,,who cares, it won't count against you.

The one way nature of classification systems in most of the shooting sports I play is something that has bothered me, but I just go on as I like shooting.

  6. I can only stomach about 15 minutes of some other shooting forums. There literally is nothing out there like BENOS!

I've mentioned this to Brian before, BUT, keep in mind, there have been forums for years and year. BUT, this forum is one of the first really successful social media sites I can think of. He pre-dates Facebook, twitter, myspace, and etc by YEARS. Keep in mind, Brian paired the social aspects of a forum with business aspects.....the vedor areas and advertising and such YEARS before the rest.

This site is though hugely popular in our shooting community, is relatively unknown outside of it, but was proving out social media business integration LONG before it became "cool". I was a lurker in the earliest days,,,,becoming an active member about 11 years ago.

  7. Things I've noticed over the last few weeks since I haven't been traveling as much over the last month.

I think my actual shooting is back to about what it was before I left the sport for my 7 year hiatus.

Things seemed to have smoothed out a lot, I think I may be a bit more efficient, and though they are still an area of focus me entries/exits are better than they used to be, my accuracy and consistency is coming back, but damn I move slow compared to 8 or 9 years ago.

Still love the game, wish I could shoot more bigger matches, but it is, what it is for the time being. My Thursday night shoots are like my little super bowl. LOL....

  8. I haven't posted in a long time. 2013 has been a BEAST of a year with work travel. Anyway, I have gotten some shooting in.

Here's a few stages from recent matchs,,,,these are some of my favorites since my comeback started about a year ago. I think I'm back to about where I was before I left the game. I may actually shoot a bit faster and be a little more efficient, which I think makes up for my failing mobility.

  9. Nice truck. You will have that 5.9 forever, they are like cockroaches, you just can't kill 'em. I hope this 6.7 proves to be the same.

Sorry for the delay. No DEF. It uses a diesel particulate filter and exhaust gas recirculation.

So they are choked off a little bit, but it is still a beast.

From what I understand, they had some issue the first couple years with managing the regens, but I have been told it is all squared awayby the 2010 trucks, I have had mine a few weeks now and haven't gotten any emissions messages, but I believe I can tell when regens are occurring. It is the only time you ever smell diesel.

The truck is a blast to drive. Although in town it is pretty thirsty, but due to the city's layout we have an insane number of stoplights and stop signs. Seems like they are everywhere.....

Someday I am actually going to be at my pc and I will get some pics posted.

  10. What do you guys think about those factory extended warranties?

They are pricey. Ford's top end plan runs between 2,600 and 3,000 when I called them up to price them out.

I know repairs can be pricey, but nearly $3k to cover you upto 100k miles seems stiff.

I am tempted to set aside the $3k, keep my maintenance up to date and take my chances. Then if I need the $3k it is on hand and use it for repairs, otherwise it is rainy day......or limited gun build fund. Lol
