[XL650 Primer disk not indexing]

Let Dillon know and they will send you a new arm (not sure of the real name) for free. The piece (arm) that grabs the disk is bent causing the issue you described.

My primer disc is not flat, or something. Took me a long time to figure this out. One time it would work, next time it would bind (when taking it apart to clean). I think there might have been some divine intervention going on, 'cause it just hit me what might be going on. I experimented with flipping and tightening the unit. I just marked it and moved on with life.

Just sent two cases off to Dillon at their request ...

The .327 generates a lot more pressure the the .32 mag from what I have read. Federal beefed up the web for this reason I assume.

BTW, my size die says 32 S&W on it, so I assume they are all the same up thru .327 Fed Mag.

I messed up.... I am actually using 32 H&R mag dies and it was the nut not the pin. The right nut is not knurled to get case mouth clearance.

Dillon did not have the 327 mag dies when I set up......The 32 mag is plenty of punch in my six shoother for practice and plinking!!!!

Someday I will get the 327 dies for my single stage as I do not plan to load them in high volume.

I am thinking they are same dies. I read a post someplace that stated the poster was using 32 mag dies for .327. Dillon would have to verify.

The .327 case is 0.125 longer, but I can't see that being an issue. The web is way thick, however (about 3/16") and I think that's rub with my depriming rod. Email me your address, I will UPS you a couple empty cases. I just bought 1,000, and can spare two. Ruined two, so I will be down to 996

I forgot to call Dillon, but will report what I learn.

Not sure how else to say it ... the spring loaded rod the holds the depriming pin and collar is too long. Hits the bottom of the case. Backing out the rod about four turns takes care of it, but a band aid.

A heads up for anyone thinking of loading .327 Fed Mag.

BTW, the dies are brand new.

Well, upon further evaluation ... the pin itself is not too small ... the spring loaded rod is too long. I think I totally misunderstood the above post about getting the wrong pin, I thought you meant the little pin itself, not the whole assy.

I should have seen this right off, but the web of the .327 case is apparently way thicker than Dillon expected, because the pin holder (the threaded thing) hits the inside of the case way before the stroke is finished. Being basically stupid, I just kept pushing the handle thru its stroke, not realizing the nose of the pin holder (the threaded thing) was pushing against the inside of the case deforming it and swageing it against the depriming pin itself.

Big Dillon screw up to not see this coming, but big ME screw up for not realizing the problem sooner. Hey ... only been two days ... normally it takes dumb left handed Swedes months to discover stuff like this.

I backed out the depriming rod four turns and it works fine. Pass this on to anyone you know loading .327 with the Dillon dies, although I am sure most people just figure it out after a short period.

I am calling Dillon tomorrow and report what I found. They most likely don't sell lots of .327 dies ...

Yes sir ... that's on my list of things to do today. I am going to look a the pin in my RCBS dies too (9mm).

They say nothing about this on the Dillon sight ... just offer a bag of (6) pins for $5.

Funny how they included two case feed adapters too, one with a notch for the longer .327 case. Credit to them for that.

I just tried to load 327 Fed Mag brass, and had my first stuck case ever. Turned out the deprime punch was stuck in the flash hole ... that's a new one for me.

Anyone else load 327 Federal brass ?? The pin is 0.075" dia ... I guess I need something smaller. Tried the Dillon forum, and gave up. I can call them, but just wondering if anyone has been thru this ... maybe an after market deprime pin.

[Fast method of setting case mouth belling? beginner question]

Does anyone make a setup thingie that replaces the powder measure when setting bell mouth.

It would be way easier to set the powder funnel if you did not have to have the powder measure in place. I agree separate toolheads are the hot set up, but if you had a gauge you could place on the charging die/powder funnel that replicated the throw of the powder measure, it would make the whole process easier.

Just dusted off 10 year old 650 and getting to know it all over again ...
