  1. Need some help - Just got a Chargemaster and my 6.5 Creedmore groups went from .30 to over an MOA.

I had done some work on the gun, so not sure the cause until today I loaded a few rds and double checked the powder wt. Should have been 42.0, but varied up to 42.4.

My charger sits on a bench about 4' from the upstairs AC return duct. Could this be the problem?

I've heard about stray air currents, but never had this experience.

  2. I shoot the RPR in 6.5 CM and a JP 6.5 Grendel.

Both sub 1/2 MOA but the Grendel has the recoil of a .22 and it is a 1000 yd shooter too.

The 6.5 is mild, but your wife might like the 6mm CM even better.

In the Triangle area we've got a BUNCH of everything.

Closer to you, there's Pitt County Wildlife Club who does USPSA and the occasional 3-gun match I believe.

I think there's a USPSA match in Havelock too.

I've got all the triangle stuff on my calendar at http://triangletactical.net/calendar and then there's the NC Section website at http://www.ncsection.org which has all the USPSA matches in the state.

II called Blackwater - now Academi - and was transferred to a number that let me leave a message, but never  called me back.

I understand they don't have a range for civilian use.

There is a range listed in NSSF in Moyock, but it doesn't really exist.

C-2 over in Pungo is the best bet locally, but expensive and no bays to practice movement. A range near Hertford is available, but has a waiting list.

May be something in the Raleigh area.

I'll try the links you posted and thanks.

May be from using pistol length gas system on 300 blk?  100% of my 300 blk is suppressed, which makes a mess, so I couldn't compare apples to apples.

I think a combination of lower bullet and gas velocity clearing the action is the crud culprit.

Certainly nothing that is a big problem, and I wouldn't change my lube practice over a bit more crud. I do expect it to worsen when I get my can out of jail and on the gun.

  6. I use 0-20 Synthetic on the bolt and carrier and wet it down.

    Works for me.

But - on the 300BLK I've noticed it carbons up around the tail of the bolt much more quickly than on the 223 or Grendel.

Oil, or just the nature of the 300 BLK?

  7. This is an old topic and post, but as I've just moved to Moyock, NC it's pertinent.

I've been to C-2 and it's a nice, commercial range with firing lines and Range Officers.

Mostly stand and shoot, but several different ways to do it there.

Max range is 300yd and no runnin and gunnin.

I'm hoping someone will respond with information on where I can find an IPSC club and range and a 1000yd range near me.

  8. Thanks for the warning!

A bud in NM is into this now and every time I hear from him he has something new for his toy.

I'll probably start like he did with a Ruger Precision and add to it as I get better on the trigger.

    Already have a Vortex PST 4-16 x 50 I can start with.

I'll probably bug you about loads and OAL and stuff like that.

    Thx again

  9. That's a nice group!

I'll do some research, but likely will go with the 6.5 - more data, more parts and brass and such.

I do reload. Dillon 1050 for mass quantities and a 650 for less. Rockchucker waiting to be (re)used for precision.

Have shot IPSC and 3 gun in New Mexico, but not here yet.

Just moved to Moyock, NC and have not gotten with a club. Ranges are different here.

Long range rife is a JP heavy barrel Grendel. Shoots well, but not like that group you sent. Course, could be the shooter...

I'll probably have to sell an Open gun to be able to afford to play this game, but I do have a back-up.
