  1. As a long time IDPA and USPSA competitor, range officer, I too have gotten close to burned out.  Discouraged that I've never made Master in anything, but was competitive 10 years ago.  Age has taken it's toll, not as fast and frequent brain farts, and watching all the young guns demolish you gets old.  I've sometimes shot something other than CO/LO or PCC just so I could say "I won my division in old man gun division (CDP/SS)", but even that is not satisfying since in local matches it's all "who's overall", ignoring divisions.

I've stopped working major matches but do try and shoot once a week with our club.  I will keep plugging away at it until I can't pull the trigger or see my sights anymore.

  2. Just ordered Black Scorpion rig for my Rival S.  Belt, 3 Competition Magazine Pouch Single/Double Stack, Ambidextrous, and the Pro Heavy Duty Competition holster.  Let you know how it works when I get it next week.

  3. Mine arrived, picked up Friday, shot it cold in match yesterday and took high Limited.   Could have been faster but that dang holster sucks.  Gotta find a good Comp holster.

    Shot 124gr CCI Blazer, 124gr MEN, 124gr S&B, 124gr AE.  Flawless.

Is it only the 18 round Canik mags that work in the PDP?

18/20 work in the PDP Full Size.

Haven't tried the Canik Elite 15 round mags in the PDP Compact.  Should work.

  6. So the way it's applied seems silly.

So if you are engaging targets from a POC and you run dry and the next target to shoot is behind a vision barrier, you get a PE if you don't reload before you move into the open.

The problem is they way it's typically implemented is you to move down a wall before you can see this target you are supposed to shoot.

YOU CANNOT SEE THE TARGET UNTIL YOU GET DOWN THERE SO WHY IS IT A PE TO RELOAD WHILE MOVING DOWN THERE TO THE POINT YOU CAN SEE AND SHOOT?

Well, the explanation goes, "Well they can see you even if you can't see them" .  WHAT?!?!?!

Vision Barriers are not hard cover, so theoretically, if the target can see you why can't you reload at POC and then just shoot through the cover, even though you can't see the target?

I don't have an issue with "surprise" targets that are visible as soon as you leave a POC and know that reloading before I leave and engage is reasonable, but if I have a 6 foot wall and a barrel stack to go down before seeing the target I am going to shoot, I should be able to reload down the wall.

    Dumb rule.

I don't really expect the changes to have much effect on matches. The reloading rules are probably the biggest thing.

Around here is basically the same, the top 50% of the field is pretty much all CO now. I think that goes back to everyone thinks HOA is a real thing so the ego wont let us shoot divisions that are seen as a disadvantage.

Which is why I've gone back to shooting CDP at our local IDPA matches.  Everyone else seems to be shooting CO or PCC 😉

WHut??  "(CCP) Power Factor reduced to 105" this all seems so arbitrary and capricious.

I would guess it has to do with the P365/Springfield Hellcat/Smith & Wesson Shield Plus with their short barrels having a hard time meeting 125PF with most 115gr Factory Ammo.  And these are the most popular carry guns that people will be shooting in CCP now with 10 round bump.

  10. Yes you can leave EMPTY magazines on the ground with one in the chamber.  No longer does it need to be an EMPTY GUN.

We used this rule at our latest match last Thursday and LOTS of shooters took advantage of it.

Just wondering if anyone has their own personal review/opinion on using the PDP. Can't seem to find them around here. I've read conflicting things about the future of the PPQ line, as well, based on the PDP introduction.

Lots of activity/discussion/opinions on Walther Forums https://www.waltherforums.com/forums/

I have the full size 4.5" and love it.  508T installed on it.  The grip is fantastic, longer 18 round grip better for competition in my opinion.  Trigger great as usual.  Unfortunately 18 round magazines are no where to be found - a failing by Walther.  Don't count on finding any.  However, if you have a Canik TP9SFX/TP9SF/TP9SFT the 18 round mags DO work in the full size frame.

Just bought a 4" Compact, looking forward to getting it.  It will replace my 4" PPQs.  Uses same mags as PPQ M2, PPQ Q4/Q5/SF.

PPQ is still in the line, but focused on Q4 and Q5.  Standard will be phased out.

PPQ SF still in the line, have to think they are looking at larger frame version in the near future.

2021 is last year of production for P99 and they will disappear after this year.
