  1. I've got a new upper on its way and I'm shopping for 6.8 magazines but there are so many mixed reviews. Sounds like you get way you pay for, c-product, acs D&H they seem to be the cheapest but also have the most problems.

So which brand to get? anyone have an opinion?

    Thanks

  2. How many mags to carry? Well just remeber it is better to have mags on you that you don't use then to meed a mag you don't have. I carry 5 mags plus a barney mag. I prefer to start with 9 rounds instead of 8....... I need every extra round I can muster...lol

  3. Thanks guys, I don't have a place to get my hands on both stocks and check them out so the word of others has to work. Magpul is only a few hours away I wonder what they would say if I showed up pounding on their door wanting to check out their stocks

I was wondering since I have to order buffer tube as well is there any preference to milspec vs commercial?

  4. Putting together a top shelf AR, I have a few months to kill while the upper gets built so I'm getting my lower together and I'm hung up on stocks. I like the looks of the UBR but the ACS is lighter and lighter might be better for what I'm building. So does one handle better or lock up tighter then the other? How does the vltor stocks compare to the magpul?

  5. Just thought i'd post in case someone is planning a cheap build. Palmetto State has their lowers back up for sale for 49.99 plus 7.00 shipping. A 50.00 lower is hard to find, to bad i'm in the middle of my 6.5 build so no spare cASH FOr a spare lower right now.

  6. A $200.00 price tag sucks but if that is what I need to do to build a nice rifle then so be it I don't want to cut corners that will effect accuracy. I know barrel and trigger pulls do a lot for accuracy.

Thanks for the input guys I'll plan on getting a nice LPK and the drop the coin on a trigger. I know Gieselle are top shelf does any one with a smaller price tag even come close? Also does any forum sponsors carry a LPK and the gieselle.

  7. I'm building my first AR, I have the lower but now need the LPK, I know most mil spec kits come with a junk trigger. Does anyone sell a kit with a nice trigger? I thought I seen Palmetto selling kits with geisslie trigger, does anyone else offer a kit with a good trigger or do most people buy the LPK and just toss the parts they don't use? I have the grip I want and the trigger guard I want so these parts I don't need.

    Thanks for the help guys,

  8. I found this thread will reading up on clay loads for .45 I'm thinking of switching powder from titegroup to clay but was trying to find pet loads that make major with 200 gr swc, but most seen to post on 230's. Can someone chime in on 200's will 4.0 make the cut? I don't own a chrony so figuring power factors is a hope and pray for me.

    Thanks

  9. shooter steve, thanks I'll check into the del-ton kit as for ammo prices I'm not to concerned there I reload for everything so that will cut my cost. The .204 just seem s to be better choice for what I'm looking for.

  10. OK So I'm way out of my element here so I thought I ask you guys. I've got the AR bug, not for 3 -gun but for H___ing (sorry had to be a smart a$$) So I was thinking about building one just to do it. I enjoy playing with 1911's and thought the AR might be a similar pleasure. But then I found a Bushmaster XM-15 E2S .204 for about $750 which is about what I would build and I don't think I could build one for even close to that. So my question is, is this a good deal on a good AR or would I be better off to build one.

Thanks guys for any help you can offer

  11. I'm sorry but I'm not agreeing with all of what I'm hearing, there can no be a premature shot, you either pull the trigger cause your ready to fire or you pull the trigger "Accidentally" there should be no gray area if the gun is not pointing in the direction of a target upon discharge then it is a AD.

But I don't write the rules I just play by them I live with what the RO calls

  12. yeah it was just a few feet in front of the shooter, not even close to the 10 foot limit...........the malfunction was the shooter. Had it been me I would have DQed myself. but to each their own.

Thanks for shedding some light though, seems to me there is no difference between a accidental and premature and that what the main thing I wanted to figure out.

  13. My thing is there is no difference between premature and accidental. If the gun goes off and your not on target it is accident right? the bullet hit the ground so he was not on target. I wasn't about to stir the pot, the RO was there it was his show so his call I kept my mouth shut and did my best.

  14. OK so I was at a match last week and a shooter finishes a reload and the next thing I see is his gun discharging and hitting the ground a few yards in front of him. (let's not bring up finger on trigger while reloading, not sure if it was or not we know that is a DQ) but any ways I figured well that guys gone that is an accidental discharge.....RO calls it stops the shooter and a guy calls out saying it's not a accidental discharge it is a "premature discharge" and there is a difference?......WTH I call BS. any ways the shooter was allowed to reshoot the stage and finish the match. I think is was poorly handled no big deal to me but just want to know for self gain is there a PREMATURE DISCHARGE??????

  15. I'm a full blown single stack guy I'll probably never leave SS but I've been seeing a few guys shoot limited with plain kydex holster and mag pouches and wondered at what point does a stock pistol it become a disadvantage?
