  1. Actually ... after thinking about this a bit more and how I use the tubes --- I probably lean in way too close to make sure I am picking it up right --- I decided that the $300 for the FT100 was not such a bad deal after all ... so went over to Brian's store site and placed an order. Might be an over-reaction but ... hey, I have gotten used to where my fingers are after these 65 years together ....

  2. I have a friend that bought the SLP with a slug barrel and ordered a new smooth bore barrel from someplace in AZ .... think it was something like arizonagunrunners ... they told him it would be a couple of months before they had it available however ..... look at bottom of this page fn 22 barrel

don't anything about this company and since he has not received his barrel yet, I have no info on how reliable they are either ......

  3. Thanks Chris.

Hey HK let me clarify Bass Pro. Hornady said on the phone and internet bass pro is a seller of it. I went to bass pro, they said they don't carry it. So go figure that one.

Flatland No I did not order any from them. they had some when I looked though. OMG, first primers and now one shot!! I am sure it will show up on line for $50 a can. :surprise:

Must be an individual store thing as I bought three cans at the Bass Pro here in Richmond VA a couple of weeks ago ... I know ... it doesn't help you at all ... guess if one of the stores in the whole chain sells it, it qualifies as a seller .......

  4. Started out with a Square Deal bought direct from Dillon and have used in about three months .... realized I wanted to do more calibers (including something for my AR-15) so I did a lot more research (now that I was a lot smarter about what I wanted) ... a lot of it right here on this site ... and a lot of reading-- mostly on this site .... and just placed an order for a new 550B via Brian .... looking forward to get to work with a new press .... thank you very much Brian for what you are providing here ......

  5. a few months into and I realize that I really do want to do two calibers

    Can't you just change calipers?

    A.T.

yea, switching calibers on a 550 is no more or less work that switching a SDB. Get the caliber conversion kit so you don't have to remove the dies.

I had heard that changing the caliber on a SDB was a real pain ... very happy to hear it is about the same effort as on the 550 ... I obviously have not tried it but was told that it was a problem by a couple of different Dillon dealers at a couple of gun shows -- guess maybe they had a new sale in mind when they answered the question .....

  6. I honestly wish I had room for TWO of 'em but I just don't. I can see why shooters often DO have two or three of them rigged up in different calibers...

I find myself in a bit of problem .... I started with the SDB to do .45 and felt that it represented the best choice since I was only going to do one caliber ..... well, a few months into and I realize that I really do want to do two calibers .... and while I like the SDB I don't have room for two of them ..... guess I am going to have to try and sell the SDB and move into a 550 ..... if I had a big room and place for two SDB's maybe it would make sense to add another one ... but I don't .....

  7. The Hearthco moonclips are invaluable for the 8-shot revolvers, but I don't use them in my 625s and 25-2s.

The Ranch Products moonclips work better for me in the .45 wheelguns.

How do the Ranch moonclips work in the 627 - 8??
