  1. It seems as if the insert (STI) of my race master holster is “warped” there is a gap of about a 16th of an inch on both sides of it and the metal. No matter how far I back off the tension knob (until it falls out) and it’s still pretty tight. I’ve even purchased and sprayed it down with silicone with no positive results. I considered trying to heat it and to bend it into position I believe to be correct, but for what it costs I was worried to try. I also purchased 3 Race Master Magazine Holsters and while 3 work flawlessly the third is very tight even if I bottom out the adjustment knob. Anyone have any suggestions? I posted on Double Alphas Facebook page with no avail (I have no idea if they check it regularly if ever and have reciently sent them an email.

  2. Does anyone have any experience with N320 and 200gn jacketed hollow point bullets (HAP)? I’m shooting them through a Dawson Precision Super Tuned EDGE. I bought 3600 of the 200gn bullets a year ago or so from a guy who was getting out of the game (really cheep, I think I paid $125.00) Helpful ideas or recipes?

  3. Have always had great luck with Dawson Precision base pads and frankly everything else he sells. Use the springs supplied and follow his instructions for the follower and you shouldn’t have any problems, I never have. I will be a bear to rack the slide with 20 rounds loaded into just about any 40 cal. magazine for the Glock.

  4. Here is what Bob Londrigan says:

Keep the gun lubed up well during the entire test

Clean the gun after the first 500 rounds or so or if it gets so dirty that it slows the slide down. Otherwise, don’t worry about the buildup of dirt. The powder residue mixed with oil makes a good lapping compound.

Do not try and speed up the break-in period by polishing, filing, or using any type of abrasive compound. You just might end up with a sloppy fit by the time you finish.

If you are using new magazines, use just one or two for the initial break-in. This will speed up breaking-in the magazines and it will limit the number of variables if you have problems.

Remember to check the zero on your gun after you have it sighted in. It is possible for your zero to change a little as the parts take their final position.

Don’t heat your gun up so much that it could cause damage.

If followed, the break-in procedure I have described will result in a gun that is clearanced enough to function reliably without losing any of its accuracy.

  5. I have the Kimber Tac Pro II in 9mm and it has never had a problem with 115gr ammo. I have only had one experience with Kimber's customer (no) service and frankly it left allot to be desired. I'd have a smith you trust check or replace your extractor, I don't think you'll get too far with Kimber, unfortunately.

  6. Fairly new to reloading and looking for advice on a good load work - up for a 180 grain HAP bullet in 40 cal. Got a great deal on the Hornady bullets at Area 3 and now need to build a round around it. Currently I’ll be turning them into noise through a Glock 35 but have a 2011 being built.
